Lots of rapid progress recently, great stuff!

If you're looking to customise Primaris, I find the Deathwatch parts work very well, especially the arms. Being slightly chunkier than the regular Marine arms, they suit the proportions a lot better, and have plenty of poses suitable for adding power weapons, pistols, one-handed guns ect.

Just ordered a mini that will fit that contest theme perfectly, so count me in!

So a quick check-in: having now... acquired a copy of KT I'm kitbashing a couple of things for the boys:

Harvesting parts from the bits box. Astonished I still have any SM bits left actually.

Better shots of the gunner

A mate (the blogger hendybadger, for those who know the name) has kindly thrown together 3 primaris with Auto-rifles for me from his bits box, along with parts to make 3 with sniper rifles also. Gives them lots of loadout options, and I'll pick them up a set of Reivers. That way, they'll both have a full team to play each other or take on However, I'm open to suggestions for other things to build for their smurfs.
Damn you, GW

GW are truly knocking it out of the park at the moment, but I think the gaming scene is really growing in general at the moment so many other good games, and of course GW just coming out with cool stuff every five seconds.

Nice work on the marines, got nothing against marines myself, got several ideas for marine armies, and KT is a great little "in" for that, can try a few ideas.

The idea of being able to play in the GW sandpit with 6 models is a joy. It's brilliant marketing and a lot of fun to boot.

CommissarKhaine wrote:Your kids must feel quite lucky . I'm getting my son into warhammer quest, and love making things up for him

Well, possibly. Bloody kids. What we are looking forward to is "having an adventure" on Friday - boys are off, I'm off. Much fun to be had.

Theophony is, as I've said, a genius. Feldherr and A-Case have both got back to me and are sending me stuff to review so thanks for that suggestion. A-Case is a magnetic transport solution, so should be interesting.

P&M Updates: First Wave of Nameless done!

Love these crabby buggers.

Especially happy with my Ogres.
That's another 11 done (318 total so far) - I still have the 4 resin flying critters, leader and monster to do but, like I say, trying to clear the decks of primed things. Back to the bat next

Thanks old son!

A lovely day off with my boys. As well as discovering a new café locally, which was very cakey and coffee-ee, we got to grips with kill team.

Threw together a rough team of my own, Kill Team Thiasus

Not really sure what makes a good KT but then again, doesn't reallymatter, because I'm not going to totally murderise my kids... yet.

We started with conquest mat, plus some 3D terrain as it's easier for the kids to visualise:

Then moved on to a small board using what random terrain I had lying about.

Lots of fun had. They won. I may have taken unnecessary risks with plasma guns very pleased with KT and the kids really enjoyed.
Any suggestions on how to enhance our KT experience much appreciated, I've got bits for making them primaris snipers next I think? Not sure what specialist roles are best either.
Long weekend ahead, but limited Geeking available, away for dad's birthday. There will be beer and a lot of food. Will try to sneak in some painting Monday... shhhhh !

SO true
But with the wee fella's birthday coming up, wondering what to do for him, particularly.

Tiny person got up very early this morning and wanted (a) daddy and (b) cartoons.
So, given that she was awake and, therefore, I was awake, got some painting done. Lots more work on the Shazam family:

Face and hair need finished, then general tidying up. Still not sure if I'm happy with the custom base but it is what it is.

If anything uncle Dudley is slightly further along. Actually really enjoying painting him. Cape needs more layers though. Tell you something, my kids are never playing White Scars

Meanwhile, robins and Ra's are less far along, but still progressing:

I'm delighted by how rescue Ra's is coming along, for a model that was simultaneously caked in paint/glue and broken in multiple places.

Cloak's doing alright. Much more fun than doing white.

And Boy/Girl Wonder

Lot of face tidying to be done. Boy robin lost a fight with model air black

Many more layers of yellow to go...

Try to finish these late Monday, but through the week is more likely tbh.

A wee reminder about my contest:

Hello again, my lovely gravelings,
Sorry it's been a while since there was a proper update. On the plus side you get a week's worth of photo dump

So here's what I've been up to. First, a tidy, of sorts.

Yes, that's a lot of storage. Not finished yet, but the whole place feels better as a result. Even Mrs G approves.

As you can see this is a *lot* of Feldherr. I'd like to thank Theophony once again apparently KR are sending me some stuff, I've not been impressed by their foam in the past, but still better than GW
I've also got an A-Case to review, a magnetic storage system. Going to try this for my Deadzone as they feel very light - too light - and their bases are tab free so easy to add magnets to.

Also got done some building. The most recent km stuff has decent quality control, finally, and minimal clean-up required.

So we have...
King Shark!

Stunning model. Needs a cool base. Any thoughts?

Nightmare Batman and Zurr-En-Arrh Promos

New Clowns:

Joker's daughter

Terrible in game, but a lovely model.

Killer Croc

Unfortunately mispacked minus a hand But it's on its way, apparently. QC note - he's an earlier release than the rest.

Hal & Harley:

I've left the extra sprue on Hal to use as something...

New Poison Ivy.

Breathtakingly pretty fig.

And her new plants:

The Brave and the Gold. the Dynamic Bluo...

Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, that is.

Darkseid is... quite large

And Animated Batgirl. That's going to become a street sign.

First HP mini, the promo Luna:

Also Kitbashed Vigilante from 'Arrow' for a friend:

He wants to paint it himself. He's a huge fan of CW, but hates converting things, especially metal. Plus he's been ill, so needs cheering up.

Did some stuff for the kids too. Some Kitbash Reivers:

Yes the legs are wrong, they're regular Primaris. Shhhhh!
And Stalkers:

These guys will get Beakies, as the boys want to go Raven Guard.

Speaking of kitbashes, I think I've had a brainwave for a Daemon prince. A kid at my local gw stuck bloat drone fans on a regular dp model - great idea - I'm not a fan of the regular dp though, all end up looking far too samey, but it got me thinking: bloat drone as the lower body/"wings", beast of nurgle for the upper body, head and limbs. Reckon that could work?

But done some painting too.

Rescue Ra's al Ghûl

Considering the awful state he came to me in, I'm happy enough.

Boy wonder, who's not quite finished.

Need to fix the eyes, and I'm not sure about the skin/tights colour.

And "Boy" wonder

Say my name: Shazam!

And my favourite the lot, uncle Dudley.

Shazamily!

So yeah, that's me
5 more models for September. Not shabby. 313 total. Aiming for 365 in the year

Still plenty of time to enter my I AM THE KNIGHT contest:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/763977.page

It's not been a great month at work, for me or wife. I'm hoping October is better. Kids are good at least.

Nice haul , glad my idea worked out for you.

As for king shark base, I don’t know much about the character, but I feel he should be standing on something large that got overturned. If it was a diorama I’d say flip an armored car on its side with the doors ajar and cash spilling out and him on top of it. But since the base is not that big how about an old fashioned hot dog street cart . Even King Sharks got to eat. Besides hot dogs come in all flavors, beef, turkey, pork, chicken raccoon and squirrel, and that’s just in the standard hot dog.

Succumb! Give in !

You wait ages and ages for one update to come along and then two come along at once.

Had a cracking game of Kill Team with the boys, teaching them to use movement and terrain to their advantage

Not as 2D a board as it looks, we had different areas designated as different heights. Makes me realise I need some simple multi level terrain, however, that's easy to assemble/disassemble and store. Something involving boxes maybe ?

Been meaning for ages to do a Daemon Prince, as I said. But it's finally come together in my head. That idea with the fans was the impetus required... and I got a bit excited:

Yeah. He was fun to do not sure he needs any more cabling or pseudopods or anything. And should be fun to paint too. Gribblegribblegribble.

More to come, some Deathstroke militia and more building of models. A good weekend with good beer and family cures many ills.

Lovely Prince there, lots of lovely gribbly nonsense

I'm sorely tempted by a quayside base or some such. The studio paint has him on a shoreline which is lovely; bugs me that they didn't to a sculpted base insert for him. I could repurpose my Joker's Titan Weiner stand for him. Mind you, I do actually have an SUV I could wreck, too...
I'm dead chuffed with the Prince. Did go through an entire packet of milliput right enough. I wondered whether he should've been more spectacular-tentacular but I think he's about right. He certainly seems happy

Oh, man, I'm with you, the Ivy is off the chart pretty and insanely good in game (but much more balanced at the same time, which is no mean feat). The King Shark pose is really evocative too, even if I much prefer his comic incarnation (he's the best thing about Dan Abnett's current Aquaman run, which given how good that reads is really saying something).

I hate the generic DP model, and the FW one, whilst rather tasty, isn't game legal (no guns allowed on a DP). Plus, you've got to have wings, right? Close Combat specialist without decent movement? Don't think so. I need to make sure that his armoured sections are obviously though I wonder whether to make them very pale, in a pre-heresy way. I've also realised I haven't added any bells to him at all, which is not in keeping with my classical greek-inspired Putrid Choir theme. Also, he needs a name. Probably Pierus, father of the muses (at least in one version).

I don’t know about needing the bell, he has the three fans which would make a loud almost string section sound. He would be bringing a whole new sound to the choir.

On second thought it might sound like a hum and lots of the old fluff of papa Nurgle has him humming or whistling a merry little tune .
