Wow your models look absolutely fantastic! Well done sir.

How did you paint your bronze on the missile launchers and multimeltas? I'd like to try and duplicate that

Thraxas Of Turai wrote:Wow...just wow. Astounding BA army. It all looks amazing, excellent modelling and painting. What is your technique on the armour?

Thanks Thraxas! My painting technique is listed throughout this thread but it's all done via airbrush...either on a black basecoat or red basecoat (I've changed up the steps over the years) followed by red highlights and shadowing and manual brushwork. These most recent models are painted for gaming so they've gotten an extra layer of gloss and matte varnish afterwards.

Thanks - Bronze is just the old GW Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal on black undercoat. It's then shading using an airbrush and black ink.

Managed to get some old school 2nd ed tac marine models and painted them up as BAs:

Still working through all my backlog of models. This time it's a Death Company drop pod - the 2nd one of my collection. Did this one in DC colours since my first one was a straight BA red drop pod.

Iconography for BA and skull are taken from various FW kits:

Old school marines came out awesome. I am a little jealous. I was thinking of drilling out some to add beakies. I paid 6$ for a lot of them.

That black and red is jaw dropping. Love the weathered caution on the sides of the doors.

Very well done as expected. I noticed you didn't go for installing all the guts on the pod.

Thanks GiraffeX! I actually took out my old standard BA coloured DP and compared the two and now I'm actually going to work on repainting the old one

Thanks! Got to love the old style Space Marines. Even though they're simple, they still show where many of the current models started out from and I just had to add them to my collection.

Thanks SL! Yeah I left out the guts as I didn't feel like painting the details. I did the same for my first drop pod as well.

Haha, never - Blood Angels for life man! Actually I do have Orks, Dark Eldar, Chaos Space Marines and Mech armies bought and sitting in boxes. Maybe if I do get bored of painting the BA one day I'll switch over to one of the others but for now, I'm still focused on expanding my BA force - which reminds me, I need to pull everything out of storage and do another photo shoot with all my collection soon!

I contacted Chessex a few weeks ago about ordering some custom dice. Since I plan on getting into the gaming side of the hobby, I wanted some good looking dice to go along with my models. Ended up ordering 25 of two types: Signature Velvet Black/red and Signature Scarab Scarlet/gold both with custom BA logo on the 6. They just arrived and look fantastic! Hope they roll as well as they look...

(Ignore the dice on the left, they're a friend's order)

You could totally use the blue ones for your librarian

BTW how much did that cost for just 25?

Ha, except the blue ones have the horrible trollblood logo on the 6's!

The pricing on the dice was quite reasonable - 0.75 cents per model though shipping to Canada was $25!

They are even cheaper the more you order. When we do dakka dice we have several hundred, and they are very cheap.

I have a set of dice that matches my army, red and black marble with gold dots. They look amazing...Unfortunately they are cursed to roll only 1's. One round of assault I managed to roll 18 1's!

Test them out first!

Yup I know - I came across some previous Dakka group orders which is what pointed me to the custom chessex dice. Definitely some good stuff and way better looking than GW's BA dice.

Wow 18 1's is bad! Hope these do better than that but I got 50 of them anyway so I should be able to get rid of any "bad rollers" and still have plenty for playing with.

I have a set of those as well so and I only use them when I need to roll low. so...

However the Adepticon dice roll constantly well for me ( most of the time )

It was bad, I nearly Rage quit! I haven't used those dice since.

Ah yes the luck of the dice. I have some see through purple ones which have really good luck on them. It's unfortunate I don't have a purple army (yet!) to go with them.

Also great contrast you got on the drop pod and marines.

Amazing work here mate! Glad to see someone else who does nice and gritty blood angels

I love the look of the second ed marines with the modern paint job, makes me want to break out all my old marines and bring them up to date!

Thanks. Will report back on how they roll after I get my first intro game in.

Thanks! My collecting OCD compels me to have them all so I knew I had to add these classics to my army

Spend this past week painting like mad on the last three rhinos for my intro list. Here's how they started out:

Also pulled my old drop pod you might have seen near the beginning of my project log back to the painting table to finish it off so that it looks similar to the rest of my army. Here are the results:
