The house looks great so far. I have a tip for wood planking if you don't mind unsolicited advice. I go to coffee and tea shops and grab a handful of wooden coffee stirrer sticks. They cost the store about 15 cents USD for 1000, so I'm not breaking their budget by nicking 20. Then I stuff them in my pocket with my pens, change, and keys & carry them around for a few days. The result is realistically battered miniature wood planks. It adds a level of detail that would otherwise take me hours to duplicate by hand. Just something to store away in your builder's bag of tricks.
Looking forward to seeing more from this project. Not sure how you've passed under my radar up till now.

Nice work on the knight. It does look like a bought model.
House is coming together nicely. Keep it up.
And as an alternative to wooded stirrers, you can also make small wooden planks etc. from sprue. Y'know, if you have lots of free time and don't mind putting in some work. Just saying.

Great looking knight - excellent job on restoring and painting him up, like him a lot
Also really digging that house - definitely stonework for the lower storey, will be a great contrast to the upper.
Yeah, after seeing Doc mention Oblivion here the other week I had to go and seek out my disc and put in a few hours (honest, only a few).

Hey warboss_wazaaarg thanks for the tip - and you've reminded me that I've got some somewhere. Too late for this building but for the next....
Dr H I'm not sure I want to take the risk with my fingers, sharp knife, sprue, its bound to end in tears. Maybe for small detail work.
Haha monkeytroll I'm putting aside at least 24hours of the holiday for oblivion, which is a very apropriatly named game. I love it so much, the frumpy elves, the luminous green orcs, the transendentally mellow soundtrack. Its so big and mysterious and full of flowering plants. I'm currently a nord called Red Sonja and I'm loving the eyelid ruins.
Thanks Shasolenzabi, I've been at it again today, doing the sides.

I'm in the shivering ilse at the mo, I love it, so trippy. I like to jump between giant mushrooms to level up acrobat.
Anyway, while I'm bottling up enough courage to milliput the hovel, I painted the bones pirate captain. He looks pretty good for a model that cost 2 pounds new. Not a lot of detail but enough, my only complaint is his sword is bent and his fingers look like sausage.

Yup, thats good old milliput, textured by running a splintered lollypop stick over it.
The blue is a sky blue, then blue ink, then a wash of pale grey 1:1 flesh, Highlighted with pale blue-grey.
The grey/flesh wash stops the blue from being too blue and gives it that sheen. When colours strike me as too vibrant and jarring I often give them a wash of a dull contrasting colour.
The red is a pink called old rose, several layers of red wash and some more of the grey/flesh wash over the top. Automatically Appended Next Post: Well actually living in a pirate town I have seen the hands of a seasoned fullrigger sailor, and yes they do look like sausage.

Well I finally got around to finishing off the milliput stonework and the beams, still needs gaps filling, windows making and bits trimming. Those gaps for bottom floor windows will be filled in with wire for bars and a sort of stonework frame. No big windows on the bottom floor or the goblins will sneak in.
Nothing doing for a bit. Family comes first!

Spanish Lager? I must ask, what do the Spaniards know about Lager? Wines, yes, but Lager?
The stonework turned out very well indeed. With those minis (Reaper Townsfolk?) in front-- shows scale-- I can see that it is a good size too.

San Miguel ain't a bad lager. Maybe its not as good as german/dutch lager. Or Cornish and Irish beer of course, although those definitely aren't lager. Maybe I'm getting confused and it's actually mexican?
Anyway, I'm back from my family visit and looking forward to finishing off that cottage. Its definitely a good scale(not like some GW vehicles) and you really could get a family of 28mm miniatures to live in it. I need to do an even bigger one to be the tavern one day.
I have totally got bus-lag. 15 hours of uncomfortable chairs is no joke. Better go to bed.

Well that seemed like a long break, although actually it was just because my SD card reader broke again (I've got to stop getting them from poundland).
In the meantime the house was finished. (needs a little base around the edge but is otherwise paint worthy).
I even did the back, although its a little dull (I might just put a hatch in the upper floor and a little pully block above it for quick escapes)
And finally this guy got some pigment. He confused me, but I've decided that he is an ex-gladiator who made good and likes a bit of bling. Sort of a neutral rogue type. A very odd sculpt, if anyone can place him let me know.

Do you know what range that fighter came from? Year or anything on the tab? I poked around over on Stuff of Legends and didn’t spot him, but there is a lot to sift through there.
Your work on dwarves a few pages back inspired my to get one of my own painted, and work on my freehand. I blatantly stole your pattern, hope you don’t mind.
House is coming along nicely. One of these days I need to make some terrain for my table...

I think it had a blank tab - which is a sign of being from marauder minis I think. I could be wrong but its buried in milliput now so who knows. Anyway someone might remember it as he's odd looking. He's a knight/harlequin/gladiator with an ice pick and a punch dagger. If he had a back story it would be unconventional.
Nice work on the shield nevelon. Automatically Appended Next Post: I reckon he is a nobleman who is exiled from high society because of scandal and gambling debts. Faking his death he uses the last of his money to escape from the bailif to the distant land of Tilea. His violently sadistic tendancies led him to put on a mask and sign himself up to the local gladiator's arena in the hope of winning the grand prize and becoming rich again. He hopes one day to return to the empire and take revenge on his enemies. Complicated revenge like in the count of monte cristo. Automatically Appended Next Post: Well I cant see him in the marauder catalogue. He is a mystery.
