@GiraffeX: Thanks, glad that comes out well.
Just a quick little update with three more minis:
The lady in the left you may remember me doing in late 2012 IIRC. Twice, even. So this is the third time I'm painting the mini. The old guy in the middle is an amazing sculpt .Very funny. I like the lady in the right too, unfortunately the casting around the mask and her eyes especially seem to be a little wobbly for some reason. Maybe I'm just misinterpreting the mini though.

Update!
Hope you like it.
Over the past weekend I got some more work done on my Persians as well. I also started project logs on this army, including a very, very, very much shortened overview of the history of the ancient Persian empire. That took me a while but I really love looking up all the historical stuff and put it together and whatnot. Anyway, here's a picture of the current state of things:
First batch somewhat finished. Shields need some more work and I realized that I need to finish the javelin/spear heads on all the units:

@Rogue Wolves: Thanks very much. Really glad with how the leopard skin pattern shields turned out.
Okay peeps, I've got a question for you. I'm doing a piece for Project Alchemy, a charity project run by the Oldhammer folks and the Collecting Citadel Miniatures wiki. You can donate money or even moneys through their Just Giving page and the money all goes on to UNICEF. Good stuff, I believe. Between all people who donate a number of really, really cool prizes (master resin casts of miniatures, actual masters, original artwork, signed books, unreleased figures, even some Evil Suns cufflinks and much more), amongst them a piece I currently have in the works.
It's Banzai Jones from the 1987 Space Pirates range:
Built a little scenic base for him and so on. Now I need your help because I can't quite decide weather the surface of the base should be snow-y or covered in vegetation. What do you think would work better?

@Rogue Wolves: Oh yes, those minis all really got something to them. Even the guy in the right, on who the sculpt's a little rougher, he's got this very characterful mask and ..well, a bomb. Also he's got a unique colour scheme within the group.

Here's a random one for you:
I recently ordered a mini from Hasslefree for a conversion that may or may never happen. Along with that I looked through their catalog a little and this one struck a chord with me. No idea what I'll do with her but it's a cool mini I think. Hope you like her!
Automatically Appended Next Post: In the mean time I finished the rest of my Black Tree Design Soviets. A Maxim machine gun with gunner and loader:
..and a squad of scouts:
I'm still a little wonky on what I'll actually do with them. Mr. US Forces in Europe got pretty much a US platoon done in 28mm and the initial plan was for me to do the Germans for giving Chain of Command in 28mm a go. As you may remember, I did about two squads of the guys for the review of Warlord's plastics, in a weak moment even bought a full platoon of the buggers on top of that (also from Warlord Games almost all plastic, meh). THEN I ran across the BTD Soviets and I really, really like these minis so I painted up one platoon of those (and some more plastic Warlord Games soviets which are decidedly less nice but I did it for a review). Now the latest plan was "hey, 'late war' Germans are boring and I don't like the models I got" - "a-yup" - "let's do something different and go for a 'Cold War gone hot before it got cold'-thing".
And that's the current idea. Anyway, that's the state of things, I got quite a bit more than a platoon of Soviet soldiers painted up, now I'll do some more Germans just so I have a full platoon of those guys as well in case - yes, I can hear you snicker back there already! - I want to give someone a demo game of Chain of Command with the cosy, family-friendly super theme "Wehrmacht vs. Red Army". Of course that's never gonna happen. Whatever. What's even worse, I'm really tempted to just drop the idea of a regular rifle platoon and do Soviet Tank Riders on top of that. :p According to the TO&E from the Chain of Command rulebook that's just seven guys per squad, 5 with SMG (including the NCO), rest are LMG crew I think I have 13 with SMG in total. Wait, I'll check... it's just 12. Oh well. This means if I order say the two Assault Soldiers packs from BTD (4 models each, with SMG) I got the full tank riders platoon PLUS the option of adding a scouts squad for support. GENIUS!
Have I mentioned that I'm not entirely convinced that Chain of Command works as well in 28mm as it does in 15mm? Oh well. Hope you liked the pictures, excuse the rambling. I chucked two Red Bull which somebody left last Saturday and I usually don't drink that stuff.
Here's the same stuff as above with funky backgrounds:

@Rogue Wolves: Sneaking a Squat in whenever I can! It was nice getting out the old IG for this one. For the fact that I own silly amounts of IG models and that they pretty much always were my "primary army" they saw the light of day very rarely over the past five years or so. Usually I take my Orks out for games because I really enjoy the way they work and look of course. @Dr H: Cheers! @Gitsplitta: Thanks very much, mate! Yeah, the "broken" links must be the photobucket ones. They should pop up again in a few days. From what I hear you don't get the "look who's popular - bandwidth exceeded" message on mobile devices but they ask you to download the Photobucket app or just show the picture as a dead link IIRC. Quite weird but that's the world of mobile I guess. For WIPs I'll use the other photobucket account for now, the older pictures should pop up again in a few days time. @Dysartes: Indeed. The Squat medic was snuck in as well. Alright, In the past week I had my birthday happening to me. It's slightly embarrassing but I have to report that now I own a lot more unpainted minis than I did prior to this event (amongst them a Horus). To counteract I did some painting of my own stuff. These are some more Persians, WIP: Two elements of medium cavalry, one element of medium cavalry command. One of the guys on the command stand I think I have to bend to the left a little. In DBA one of your army's elements will contain the general of the army, adding a little to their combat abilities but when he's dead that's no good. Later Achaemenid Persians I think give you a choice of having him either with cavalry or sitting in a chariot. I'll do both because I got the models for it. Once these guys above are finished all that's left to do is the two chariots. Then, using the momentum gained from doing the soviet infantry, I pushed on did a plastic T-34/85 AND wrote a review of the kit: A very fun project to work on. It's nice getting into all those "realistic" weathering techniques again for once. Going on from that my quest for universal equilibrium required me to do some Germans with anti-tank weapons (plus five more plastic Germans who couldn't hide quick enough before the brush hit them): The anti tankers are by Artizan who have a very good reputation for their WW2 ranges. Review will follow in the latter half of the month. And that's it really. Going back into full commission job mode again. Hope you like the pictures!

@Moltar: Yar, thanks. Only bad stuff is when I get a bit too enamoured with doing my own stuff.
@Dr H: Cheers. They do look rather fetching, don't they.
@Gitsplitta: Thank you, mate. Yes indeed, it was nice playing around with some proper weathering in between. Not that I've done much extravagant Sci-Fi stuff (= 40k) in a while but still. Did a bunch of Fantasy stuff recently (Freebooter's Fate) which is quite different to historical ww2 stuff of course.
So last year around this time I did a 15mm Soviet army for Flames of War. Maybe you remember them. A few weeks ago I was asked to add some reinforcements to that army.
Here are some impressions of the main army I did last year:
I added a little map to their table just so it doesn't look as empty. The temptation to add some pencils and D20 was there, believe me. At least I can make up some dialogue for them. Officer on the field telephone ordering pizza, guy in the far right having changed his mind about what pizza he wants at the last second (as he ALWAYS does), guy in the back re-read the rules about Rangers because guy-in-the-front's character seemed way too strong with his "favoured enemy: things in sight" and accuses him of cheating... er, let's proceed to the next picture.
So much for that. Fun project and I only had two weeks to finish it then. Now for the additions:
That was four days ago, now I got these finished.
Some IS-2, plastics from the Plastic Soldier Company (review coming up):
Another IS-2, this one's from Battlefront:
A few SU-122 (fifth one coming up soon, I had to repair it):
...and some more T-34/76 from the PSC again (review coming up):
Here's just a fun little one I took because I still had my 28mm T-34/85 standing around:
Hope you like them. What's coming up is a platoon of ISU-122 (absolute monsters), a platoon of Katyushas and a platoon of assault engineers with body armour.

Stuff's finished, here's the pictures:
The ISU-122s along with the platoon commander's IS-2 tank:
These ISU-122 are huge. Absolute monsters.
A battery of Katyusha launchers:
At first I thought these would be hell to put together but the proved to fit really well. Nice. Here they are along with two spotter teams:
Then we got a platoon of assault sappers with that famous soviet body armour:
...well, and that's that. I hope to take some "army shots" tomorrow.

Alright peeps, here are "army shots":
Displaying my recently finished 10mm scale buildings. Really funny thing about the whole ground scale/miniatures scale conundrum: They fit quite a lot better with these 15mm figures than with my 10mm ones. Even though you notice that the 15mm ones are way too big if you really set them up next to the houses and take a close look. But on the table from more than 50cm distance they look like they go together like Space Marines and huge swords. Craziness. Oh well. At least I got 15mm houses for middle Europe now, eh? Shame I don't do anything to go with that personally. 28mm middle europe, sure. 20mm middle europe (Germany even), sure. 10mm too. But 15mm? Nuh-uh. Oh well. At least I got them. And I guess I'll buy some 10mm scale terrain for my TYW stuff then. Or even make some and learn how to cast properly.
ANYWAY, hope you like the pictures.

Army Shots are great. Love the 15mm and 10mm stuff. Charity Jones looks awesome, but I'm wowed by the sculpted goblins. Loving those little buggers.
