I'm liking the round viewpoints more...

The square ones are probably more in keeping with the design (as you already have square holes for the firing points)...

But, for view points, you want a wider field of vision. Which the larger round ones give.
Maybe larger square ones?

I still like the round ones though...

In have to support the Dr here I enjoy your round view ports quite a bit.

I like the round ones better, but I wonder if they (square ones) would be better with more of a slope to the top of the box (less box and more raised wedge - if that makes sense). I love it. How will you distinguish F/S/R in a game? Or will it be the same AV all around?

Round ones for my vote. Although rhomboid in line with the panelling maybe more true to type. I like the round.

And view ports and ( again in keeping with silliness.) Maybe a couple for pouring tar out of.! With nice brass "gutters" to dispense said tar over the miscreants daring to approach you beautiful tank.

Hmm . Well, round, but with a bevelled edge and rivets. Almost like a ship's clock, if that makes sense?

well i like the debate about those viewpoints... but...well things developed a bit during that debate...and into a totally different direction...

i hope i can still catch you all with details...even if there are not that many round viewpoints to be seen...these pics are rather self explaining, eh?







these are square ones, with shutters and they stick to the hull rather than stick out...so a kind of mix of everything mentioned here...except that the roundness vanished almost completly

Yeah, those work for me, even if they aren't round (these do fit the build better anyway).

Makes them stand out a bit more this way and goes with those support beams.

interesting idea didde...i am currently not sure on what kind of light arms i will settle... i like the current scheme of a renaissance steampunk scheme...so mere lasguns are probably not fitting the bill then...

Very much shaping up. Hmmm, would not the cannon breaches bang into one another when firing as they are so tightly lined up as you have it Vik?

dang...! i got busted...(original quote of one canonier )... i think you are right shaso... also...the barrels are too long...when the turret is ontop of the upper tier the smokestacks are in the way for a full turn...hmmm....any suggestions? should i do the barrels on just one side?

Twinlinked on one side and shorter so when it turns, it does not clash with the stacks.

Ill see what I can do about that...

I just found this thread..... LOVE the idea! Really taken the Da vinci idea and raised it to another level! Really looking good!

One small suggestion: All these hatches, could they do with a rod (doesn't even have to be a visible piston) to open and close them?
I know it's possible to have hatches work from the hinge, but it's little things like that, that I like to add...

You could keep both cannons if you make them nested barrels, like a recoiling system.
