Great work vik. This really is a masterpiece that does justice to the original design. Now you just need to make the spiral helicopter top that can be swapped out with the banner for air dropping this into battle.

That damn thing is the most riveted amazing ufo treaded death machine i have ever seen! Simply love it. I wish to see its painted wheels of doom tread across the field in the Viktorian way.

As for the painting part...I have added the last lil details to the hatches, and after that I aplied the first coat of cheap acrylic metal paint... The whole tank is now a dark metal color...pics of that will follow in the evening CET...

hello ladies and gentlemen...

welcome to the happy landscape of paintville^^

at first the whole tank got a coat of metal paint ...here are some pics:







and then I worked on the actual scheme...this provided some decisions that I couldn´t quite decide ...yet...

so I made some try outs...

basic color will be the red of my imperial guard...

here with in combination with (a thin) white...


and here in combi with black...


and then the last try was with DA green...





tell me what you think...

of course all that you currently see is so heavily WIP that it might change completely...

I like the red and black, but green is right out, unless your going for the inquisition Christmas tree of death look. The lasers firing could look just like twinkling lights on it. I suspect you wouldn't open the presents underneath it either until you ran them over first. It does have two chimneys so you could model an Ork stealing all the presents out of it

Love the metal paint, really even. Makes it look really metal. Thats hard on such a large area. Showing us how it's done yet again sir.

Mmm, festive! I like the metal too, and I would go for red only. You could probably get away with the green too as long as you weathered the heck out of both, though.

Theo...the Christmas tree of death...the conical shape sure speaks in your behalf......I guess that mention ruled out the green...

At cam...the metal job was achieved by stippling the paint on...thus you quite easily evade the brushmarks you usually get on such big surfaces...not that big a deed really

At graven, a red only job?...could work, the shield details and the hatches will break up the redness...hmmm will think about that for sure!

How about red and metal alternate and then use black as a spot colour to pick out little details...

wow, Good to see the paint going on, those red and black panels work really well .
Is it going to be weathered at all, or are you going for a straight of the production line, brand new and shiny look?

The well kept look is probably easier to be achieved by my below par painting prowess... but it would no doubt look cool all worn and battle weathered...I am very hesitant...

At Dr h ...the metal for the riveted parts is a must... But the bigger surfaces with hatches and shields in metal too? Thats something I didn't think of and I doubt if that would look good?

At hk1x1 ...black and red is a darker and stronger combo for my army...I favor that scheme currently too...

No need to suppress yourself here, you are right...it does give the whole tank a comic look I hadn't attempted...sadly even in the building process I was aware of this but not able fix it...

You could always put a skirt around it....just like a Christmas tree . You keep reminding me of Christmas, which reminds me there's a local church that does a Christmas service all in German. I keep meaning to take the kids so they can hear German spoken fluently. Plus they sing oh tannenbaum

Make it an inflatable skirt and It could be a hovercraft turtle.!!

Just kidding. I love it, and personally would go with the red and black btw. Though I am probably late now.

well...totally not...

let me describe todays hazardous happenings...

around mid day my wife took a nap, my kids played with as less noise as they could to relax a bit and not wake their mother...

so daddy thought... : "ye could as well play a game or paint your tank..." well he choose the latter...

so i went and tryed my hand in painting the tank red completly to try this look as well...

i started with the turrets white fields...and...the former white came off !!! ...shocked as i was i tried to rubb the peeling white color of...everything... in fact i got so bold as to rinse it off under the tub... and even then the red came off too!!!... seems the metal paint underneath didn´t allow the other paints to bond to... after this shocking revelation i tested the other two parts too... and the black came off and the other red too... only the DA green of GW didn´t came off... i was livid...



well actually i didn´t felt livid... i saw an opertunity...

so after nap time and some hearty snack of waffels^^... we went shopping at our local DIY shop... and dad got a new shiney broush on 2 in 1 paint, that is a primer in itself too...

and the stippling methode again saved the day...

so here it is... a true red tank...(needs another coat of that red paint still...but then detailwork can start anew...)

I felt so bad for you when ou were describing the paint not sticking , my wife asked why I looked so worried. Glad you were able o pull it out, I had faith in you .

well.... i went into some kind of forrest gump feeling then.... i just riinsed off everything... somehow it was quite relieving while doing it... there was something itchy about the former paintjob... you know when peeps say it looks better in RL...it looked worse in RL for this one... so kinda a blessing all in all ...the red coat now is way sturdier and now even dry... tomorrow i will aply another on...and then even nukes wont get it off...*crosses finger*

as for the caps shield ...i had a fleeting moement during these days in that direction here and then too...even made slight wooosh noises too^^

and thanks mate for feeling my pain(t) too...we have to have a bit of pity now and then too^^...it is a most close to heart hobby, isn´t it?...
