hello my dear audience...

today...after way too long a time of neglecting this thread... i have an update...yeah!!!^^

well first i like to draw everybodies attention to skalk bloodaxes new competition thread...staring a junk pile competition...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/563097.page;jsessionid=4A7505C0E586A4B7651D8604DB85ED11

which i am of course joining...

i have already started to build some means of line of sight blocker only to realise that actually the item later on should look like junk...thrown away rubble...and i have currently build something more differently...so i need to start something new

but here is what i have worked on so far...

a small boiler like thingy....not totally in vain as it will definitly see paint soon...i am quite fond of this lil something...

well...this is cettainly no junk

also... already mentioned in theo´s thread...

i worked on a steampunk/clockwork horse...
took an empire knights horse...sanded down almost every detail on the legssections...and added hexbolts and screws there... the horseface got a serious makeover too...

here it is:

the roughrider on horseback is sponsored by camkierhi....thank you mate...i´ve got two more of these nice fellas...that need new steeds too...

well...i need to figure out what would look like junk...which is no small feat i might tell ya...

cheers, vik

Oh now that is very mecha tasty indeed! And as for junk I advocate just taking a fistful of random and pasting it to a base

Nice start on the boiler

Now the horse looks pretty cool in the blurry pics

Was the horse inspired by the He-man horse by any chance

Not where I should be

Horse looks excellent. So simple yet brilliant additions making all the difference.

As to the boiler looks brilliant too, all you have to do to get in the spirit of the competition is take a blowtorch to it and make it look like it blew up!! There you go, build a perfectly good model, then blow it up! Simple.

Great work on the boiler, I knew what it was before I read the post, so either it's good or were both daft....... no comment.

such a simple and effective idea for the mechanical horse. Well done Vik. I have about 50 of those from the old battle masters sets that I could update.

well...skalk wants actual junk... but if i do this quite often it will be out of scale...thats my biggest issue currently...

you could say that^^...ispired by the big horse...but the big one is still hiding itself on the shelf of shame...sadly as i have no ideas...mebbe i should just post how far i came with that one...
as for the current horse...i primed the horse just the other minute... better pics will happen once the paint is dry!

aye...simple it is... i used those can like looking thingies of tau guns for the face/gasmask of the head...now where do i get four more me and my self destroying ideas^^
the blowtorch idea is actually quite a nice one... hmmm...i have a small gas powered soldering tool that might have done the deed...if i hadn´t already gone for a more rusty crusty look on the whole thing with a mix of PVA and superglue... for those of us still new to this... this creates lovley random patterns...

wouldn´t dare to comment on your state of sanity i keep my gob shut if you do the same good deed for me
i am wondering if there is a secret production line at GW where they have tagged the conveyor belt with theophony... seems you have almost everything in abundance

He-Man's HORSE?!? BATTLECAT bro! Horse is for She-Ra =)

thans storag... where would i have seen that horse and carriage setup?... i imagine it is from a game?
and well...he man rode his battlecat for sure... but the whole gang one of his cronies had that horse... man-at-arms maybe???

Dr H wrote:Nice boiler Vik and good idea for the robo-horse.

thanks doc...timely arrival for a new update by the way...
what you now see is already primed...you now see a glimpse of the past so to say

i covered almost the whole model in PVA and then sprinkled it with superglue... now i have a totally ruined surface all over... tho the details added are still recognizable...

more of this later^^

cheers, vik

Awesome job on the horse looks the part very SP indeed, plus the colour ties nicely with your SP guard troops will we be seeing these rise there heads.

Also waiting to see the he-man universe horse, what is causing the hold up then ?

Is it something in particular as I thought you had quite a strong idea as to what to do with it.

yup...i tried to do my best to get them tied in with my steampunk soldiers (the ones made from pistoliers...)
i will take pics tomorrow of the big horse...then i will explain...basically i have gotten rid of the seat section, the bum gun and the front guns as they were soft plastic...you cant really trust that material in my opinion... now i need to think about what to do next... the steering part and the seat part all got sealed with plasticcard...but after that i was bereft of any further inspiration...

Camkierhi wrote:Beautiful work on the horse.

that is the question... i am currently thinking skalk wouldn´t want such an entry... i really think he is insisting on junk that looks like ...painted junk...but i will finish the boiler anyway...
