I agree with Klaus here, this thing oozes Soviet stylings. The real metal hinges are brilliant btw! What are those for, jewelry box projects and such? You've hidden it well too!

I should have taken pics inbetween...damn... I only guess that the jewelry box usage is the right one. Saw these at home depots too, but these were a zillion years old bitz from my wife, she owned them even long before we got together...
And thanks mate , the halftrack is a really fun project! Very motivating, also I am eagerly looking forward to all that riveting...

well yesterday I did nothing on that front....BUT my son felix and me played a game of Lego hammer...yeah...!!! we made up some very simple rules on our own, used even lego parts for measuring... and some nice dices ...color dices for the shooting phase...it went so far that we played four games that day... if peeps would like I could show some pics I did...classic empire troops against hoth rebels...that was literally a blast!

3 all round covering fire nice concept
4 well just dam well rocks I think you should make a separate one for Orks once you have finished this one

Love to see the pics of the lego Hammer sounds really cool, although I thought you would have made your own lego dice

The half track looks fantastic, cant believe how much I've missed in such a short amount of time .

What kind of details you planning for the interior?, as you could probably fit quite a lot in their if you wanted,
leaving just enough room for troops of course.

lego hammer will be shown if I get to upload the pics... need to filter the amount of pics I made tho...and thanks matey...nothing bad in repeating what other thought too^^...keeps me motivated^^...and you bet your bum there will be a grot or orky one too sooner than later^^

the question for the interior details will be answered in a first part below...^^ and thanks mate!

n0t_u wrote:Wow, can't believe I missed that halftrack until now. It's like a much better version of the taurox already.

I take that as a very high praise mate! tried to stay to a certain RL known design but still stay creative as well...

Theophony wrote:Legohammer? Do tell, and show sounds entertaining. I know I've considered doing Legomunda before, talk about a game with conversion potential .

ha! well today we even played a game of three teams and oskar and my wife played as one team... they tabled my son felix and my own lil team of five each in a blood shed no demon army ever has seen before... man... what a fight...and indeed... it is almost instantly convertible...

but now to some other stuff....still interested about interior details...well... happy to oblige^^:

well I skipped the direct gun controls of the gun drums... it took away way too much space inside and made it not convincing looking...so I first worked on the walls...made controls that more or less are comparable to a fancy arcade machine...
made a connecting door to the drivers cabin too... with a security failsafe...
and a bench for the centre place...

what to do next?... well...I see some gunracks still at least.... also I still think that if the ramp hatch opens the soldiers emerging from here will need extra cover and thus I want to make a weapon that can be swivelled...

so here are the pics....:

hope you like mates...cheers, vik

thanks mates... I have a good feeling for the interior too... but it will be a pita to paint... I have currently no real idea how to... but that will time tell...

also...lego hammer pics...:

hoth troopers against snow storm troopers... and evil always wins.... so far we played six games all in all... and always the evil side won...???...regardless of the man behind the minis...
weird eh?^^

scenes of carnage...
all happened here on the living room table...
we used the 10 cm long technic sticks for measuring ...
and these color dices you get in toddlers games... in essence ti is a 50% chance to hit a target... (according our own made up rules...) which made up for some very dramatic fire fights...

good thing is that if you stick to a 10cm and 20cm distance for the amount of moveable distance by feet of each mini lego is the easiest way to do the measuring... every two dots on a brick equals 1cm...
easy and reliable...

and fun!!!
we didn´t work with any weapon options... to get a basic feel for the rules... but I will upgrade gradually ... sniper guns with long distances, jump packs, grenades, and demolition charges... later we will probably include vehicles... but that will make the game very big I think... we need to think that over...

Well I'm sure the 3 or 4 Americans* (out of ~317 million) who pay attention to La Copa Mundial might be upset, but the rest of us won't be bothered in the least.

Now, if Team Deutschland beat us at basketball or baseball... Do Germans even play baseball?

*Kidding. I hear the US-Ghana game drew an TV audience of 15 million, which is pretty good. But it was broadcast on ESPN (cable) and on the Spanish language channel Univision ( where I watch the World Cup. SPeaking multiple languages is a good thing, eh?)

Now get Felix to scratch build some things (with supervision of course) to scale for Legohammer. Could be fun. And result in some cool stuff

I love that interior detailing-- the center bench really sells it. Please explain about the hinge though. It looks re-purposed.

The interior detail on this behemoth of a halftrack is amazing! The lego stuff is little less so. Did I miss the post that said what this transport is supposed to represent? Is it a giant Chimera or is it a forgeworld thing or a custom?

I knew I should have taken some pics before assembly...
I used these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12x-Small-BRASS-HINGES-clock-case-repairs-parts-clockmakers-other-uses-/200687227946

two of them... and where the holes are...you usually use lil screws... I put small holepunched discs of 2mm diameter... the hinges got sandwiched between plasticcard below and above and thus securing my crappy superglue glue job...

I saw some germans play a game of baseball... but it is really some specialists game here... and well... we have our secret agents of basket ball...dirk nowitzki anyone?^^

and...multi lingual?... what else beside spanish and ...obviously English do you speak?...

after this promising start into wargaming I think we will start also with a warhammer-ish kind of game... not the full in your face rule book rules... but a bit of a all you can eat buffet kind of rule set...^^ and both my kids are more than eager to start working with junk and bitz and plasticcard too... makes me proud and still a bit overprotective in the same second too...

thank mate... the truck is a kind of tauros / chimera mix... a giant sized mix

and you have to take into account that all that you see was built in his own time by my eight year old son... and I know the crude color mix is somewhat off... but well... you never have enough bricks to make convincing coloured buildings....sadly...

Well, the Lego stuff looks great then, but I would argue that that boy needs about a million more pieces. Get on that, dad! No child should ever have want of more Legos.

I know I'm late to comment, stupid work. But the interior detail is awesome, great use of the chimera piece as the consol screens. Also the lego hammer game looks like a blast. I know they make Lego dice for the Lego board games, so you could use those to make your game as well.

we even own one lego dice... that is actually a good idea to use it...hmmm...need to get me a second one I think if this goes on....
but in fact lego hammer is only a prelude to the true game

and thanks... I still have two more of the chimera bitz and I just thought...lets risk using two of them for this idea...I am often such a miser when it comes to using bitz...

ha! just bought me eight new lego dices... for just 3.60 all in all P&P...thanks mate!!!

If you think about it Lego hammer will be more cost effective in the long run, new landscapes easily achieved simple conversions with a pop of a helmet easily altered weapons.

Looked like fun as well plus using your own rules has to be more entertaining, buying lego dice now seems like the bug has bitten

definitely bitten... I currently think about knew rules... a shop system like you have in ´munda games... equipment charts and then army setups... we´ll have to see how much rules my sons can cope with... but I bet he want sniper guns and lasersaber to be useable...

and indeed we need to make cool looking landscapes...

the infection grows... today the contagiousness of felixhammer (legohammer in our house...) was spread into a new befriended household... we had a friend of my son felix at our home for a play date and they all played the game ... and when his mother came to bring him back home she viewed the game and instantly saw that this will be played at their place too...*punches the air*...

and lego against transformers...sounds cool... but you need a lot transformers then... our lego collection is quite fast and would need some serious opposing forces ...

and of course any game worth playing would have these MT !

at dave... yeah I know... but we are of course of one mind when I say the American team needs to be tabled next week ....right?
