Well at last I can openly comment on your Portapotties.

THEY ARE AMAZING! Absolutely brilliant. So funny, and I totally love the head on the surprised soldier, that mOOoostache is great.

I wanted to scream at you to add some more to the base, some foliage or something to break it up a bit. And you really need to try some of this special technique painting, like a bit of OSL, you would have stolen it if you had.

Now where is this Bastion, get it done so you can get on to your next competition entry with plenty of time.

inmygravenimage wrote:It is completely brilliant. And the working doors are the business!

well... they still work... but you have to be extra careful... I think I have reglued each one about three times....if I do such stuff again... then in a slightly different way... the gluesurface was just very small... so the pull and tear on the door blade quite often ripped the angles off...also... paint has really a thickness we might underestimate...

thank you sir!

well... I had quite a very in detail review of the whole work by dr H....all his musings will be taken in for further projects for sure... the base indeed was compared to others works very bland ... and that´s something I need to work on... to create convincing looking terrain there is so much else needed... as for OSL.... I know there are tuts out there... but it is a door in my head I need to open up first I guess....

the bastion will be shown further down with an update... (actually that one is a week old now...but nothing more has been done then... as I have a kind of problem how to work further with the lower lights to cover them and make them look as the ones above... so instead I have started with the next competition and my entry... but more to that after a short advertising break....:

LoER Terrain Contest: Round 11: On The Road

The title pretty much describes the theme, a scratch-built piece of terrain that show how our little metal and plastic meeples get from point A to point B. Simple? Ah, there are several catches. The first is that it does not need to be an asphalt road. It could be a game trail, a railroad, a bridge, any sort of pathway really, just something that creatures (who says it is for humans ?) will use for travelling on or under the ground, or over the water (probably not in the air or through space, although that would be interesting to see, and if you can pull it off, then by all means go for it.) The second is that you may (and probably should), at your discretion, include some roadside attractions. You can use your imagination here or you could use your imagination for the road. Or both. It's all good

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/609100.page#7093794
and you can klick the banner in my sig to get there too

sooooo....my own ideas have been a bit mushy for now... I wanted to make a steampunk bridge, a lifting bridge...
what you see here on the first pic of this endeavour is the middle part of the bridge...

more to follow....

also... as I was recently working on the bastion... I did some riveting... added a door.... railing for the upper section...and generally riveted the upper light section...

here are the pics....:
lighted upper section...

bunkers for the pointed parts...

rest of the pics show the capacity of the floors... upper section can support currently ten models on their base....but it needs a trapdoor or other to get outside...

so...see you later...

cheers, vik

In all fairness, a Capuchin monkey could do that This bastion is way better.

The bastion is good stuff. The bridge, moving parts? Ambitious. A good sign.

The top of the bastion has the appropriate number of sides too.

If I were ever transported back in time, I'd owe my lilfe to having knowledge of the star fort, and being able to convince historical people I was some kind of engineer who could build them fortifications better than other people.

You're from Connecticut, Vik? Oh, that was a solar eclipse.

A star fort would make a great table too. The whole table, or most of it.

I always dreamed to make a table to look like the inside of an airship... a star fort would be cool too...really... one of my long time goals was always to create a full table... modular if possible just like space hulk...just a different setting... more steampunky/cobblestone/Victorian...hmmm....ach...^^ one still can dream...right?^^

and of course it was a solar eclipse...... lunar eclipses happen each month so that would be no stuff to scare the uneducated masses with... silly me... and thanks for the catch... I think I should actually read that book and not watch movies based on it that were sooooooo bad.... (once you start facepalming there is no stopping...)

lone dirty dog wrote:Vik you gone Plasticard mad man Crazy fortress design and with electrics

indeed... I have used up quite a large bit of my last supply drop...the stuff gets used up like nothing by me atm ...but I have a question to everyone here concerning working with plastic glue and plasticcard... has anyone ever had any skindistortions happening to him after a longer use of both materials?... I have a weird looking skin condition on my middle finger that is recently extending to the rin and the index finger... (me being a manly man of course I have avoided to go to a doc...) ???

M0rdain wrote:Wow those lights are really cool. It does mean that you will have to play in the dark now though.

funny thing is the way I got that warm diffuse light is by letting the masking tape inside still on the clear plastics... it gives a really lantern like look, wouldn´t you say so?

update later on...^^

cheers, vik

Maybe you're having a reaction to the glue? If you take a Benadryl (and then a nap) will that help maybe?

How long have you had the rash/discoloration? Might just be a reaction like Dave said, but if it's going on for a while I think it might be something else.

Either way it's a perfect chance for you to take a photo and let dakkadakka see your middle finger.

Yeah, possibly the glue, sometimes can cause reactions with sensitive skin. Is it causing any pain or discomfort?
