Yeah at this point xcom 2 is just destroying me so badly. Man that game has a habit of destroying your spirits doesn't it? Time would be so better spent doing anything else. I may just do a 6 man run considering how much easier it is.

Metal Gear Solid V. It's the first one I've played, but I definitely agree that popcorn is as important/more important than a controller for the intro. Other than that, it's been pretty fun.

I powered through the Unchartedr collection over the last week, finished 3 last night. Uncharted 2 is the best, 3 felt like they rushed it out the door. Also, "it was just a dream" trope is lazy.

Overall great games and well worth the time spent.

Still playing Dark Souls. Fought through Blight Town, which was actually mostly frustrating because it was so confusing to navigate. Chaos Witch Queselag or whatevershe'scalled was not too tricky to beat. Getting back out of Blight Town was actually a good bit harder! Killed the Great Wolf Sif, though that was a melon fether too.

Trying to platform my way over to the crow, as I hear he brings you back to the Undead Asylum. Then I'll try Sen's Fortress (already took a run at it, and I can confirm, it is unpleasant.)

Is there a lot more game? I feel like I'm probably finished with the start of it anyhow.

You're about halfway through I'd wager, depending on which route you took. At this point the game will look like (in the recommended order):

Sen's Fortress --> Anor Londo --> Darkroot Garden --> New Londo Ruins --> The Duke's Archives --> Crystal Cave --> Demon Ruins --> Lost Izalith --> The Catacombs --> Tomb of Giants --> Kiln of the First Flame

Oh and please PLEASE don't miss out on The Painted World of Ariamiss. That was one of my favorite places in the game and it is completely optional.

Good luck

Cheers!

I went back to the Undead Asylum and I've been ramming my head into the Stray Demon's butt for must be 30 deaths now. I've stripped off all my armour and have the Grass Crest Shield and a Crystal Greatsword (because hitting his butt with my +9 halberd was too difficult.)

He's worse than the Capra, because at least with him I knew if I could just survive long enough to kill the dogs I could handle him. Fatty though, you know that chipping 118 health off him per slash is going to take forever, and you just have to stick really rigidly to pattern. Last time I had him maybe six chops away from death, accidentally rolled slightly in the wrong direction and he sat on me, killing me instantly. Arrrgh. Frustration levels maximal.

(Cliché victory edit Haha! Switched to two handed, gold pine resin, and chop chop chop in the big fat butt. The Demon is dead. Not sure why I didn't just quit it, but I have a No Bosses Left Behind policy apparently.

I'm going to try out Wildstar, I really like the art style of the game, so we'll see

I also tried out another game of Hearthstone today. Lost on turn six thanks to Mana Wyrm + Coin + Mirror Image on turn 1 by my opponent, then second turn another Mirror Image, and I didn't draw any of my removal. This game is clearly fair and balanced. Third time I'm totally fed up with this pile of gak.

Will do

Combat feels more like Guild Wars 2 than WoW so far, if that's of any help. I haven't had any difficulties with the game so far yet.

I've been enjoying Total Annihilation lately. The game may be pretty dang old these days, but it still kicks ass! It's easy to see why it gave the original Starcraft some good competition back in the day.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Wildstar was sub-based when it was released. But they did away with the subscription fees last year.

More xcom 2, more getting owned by it. It's usually around july or august that my 4 man commander difficulty ironman runs go sour. Usually about when I'm sporting plasma weapons on a bunch of my guys. Starting to use battle scanners more and scouting around for un-activated enemy pods/patrols so that I don't activate one when moving somewhere or trying to flank.

F2P, optional subscription and an in-game store. The currency for the in-game store, which seems to be mostly cosmetic items, can be earned in-game as well.

Surprised you managed to take down Smough on your first go. Haven't gotten that far yet (actually... still stuck on Undead Burgh), but from videos I've seen, they look FAST.

I did more Tabletop Simulator with a friend. This time we found an Aliens TT game, and had some fun with that. We did a home brew game mode of getting the marines from point A to point B due to the official games being very time consuming and would require more than the two of us.

Long story short is that I got one marine to escape while the rest were either getting a face hugger to kiss them, or were lying dead on the ship's floor somewhere. RIP Hudson, you were my favorite.

Threw Until Dawn into my PS4 and am doing a play through where I'm hopefully going to get that elusive gold trophy where you keep everyone alive.

I failed right at the end of my previous attempt at the trophy a few months back. I forgot about the series of 'don't move' sections that sort of pop up rather fast at the end of the last chapter and moved my controller. I know better now. As long as I don't screw up and get Matt killed, which is actually way too easy to do, I think I'll be in the clear to get the gold...

Skavenlord: I was stuck on the Burg for ages too. I nearly put the game down at one point - I think the bridge with the drake? I didn't find the shortcut with the ladder so I was having to do the whole trek every time I messed up, it was soul destroying!

I'm not sure why I was able to take down Smough - I went into it thinking I'd just see the move-set and get used to it, as usually it takes me lots of tries to beat a boss. But then I didn't actually beat him, so yeah.

War Kitten: I think it's just luck and repetition. I've seen some talk of killing them with poison arrows bought from the undead merchant. I tried encasing myself in stone armour with a giant greatshield and turtling up, and they still knocked me off. I tried running for the one on the left, but he killed me in melee. I tried running for the one on the right, and got hit in the back til I fell off. I tried shooting with normal arrows but only did 1 damage per hit.

Eventually I just pegged it past the golems on the door and all 5 demons and up the buttress, rolled twice, luckily got missed both times (since I couldn't even see behind me it was sheer luck) and then managed to knock the bastard off the ledge and get inside. Huge relief. The rest of the palace was a piece of cake after that.

Edit: Turns out it was beginners luck the first few fights, or I was playing more cautiously. Been killed upwards of 12 times since then. Running out of humanity to summon Solaire with, too. Man. I might put the game down for a while.
