Thanks Miss Dee, I will investigate further.
I've got a few of their paints and they are really nice. Automatically Appended Next Post: Another update this time an old mini that I keep adding too every few months between projects my Empire General.
Today I painted the Griffons legs (need to repaint claws black) and the Snow Tiger body, still need to do his puds. The Eagle will be a Great Eagle so it will have a white head to match its body.
No idea when I'll finish this model

Back into the world of 40k now
I came back from work on Thursday to a large number of parcels on my painting table.
Of course I went for the largest first which was also the one I didn't remember ordering. I checked the postage stickers and it said it was from America the senders address on the top corner kinda gave away what it was.
It was from none other than Git's himself but unfortunately I had to work that evening so had to wait a few hours before opening the large box which contained the below
one very very large tin of cookies and my MW prize model.
So after a quick dance round the room, I had to go to bed without sampling Mrs Git's cooking skills or have a decent look at the MW.
Roll on Friday the first thing I did when I got home was to move said tin of cookies to their rightful place in the kitchen and delve in, the results were as expected top marks to
Mrs Git's some very impressive cookies. I then checked out Git's MW model and it is as cool as the picture, cant wait to paint this guy up with his squad.
You remember I said I had received multiple boxes well this is the contents of the others.
More Space Wolves and some FW goodness to make even more Space Wolves, I should say Dark Wolves wouldn't want you to think I've gone all Imperium on you
Today I started the assembly line, the plan was to build all of the models I needed for my next tournament but I only got this far
Normally I would update on Sunday but I'm working some bizarre hours tonight so may not get a chance to get anything done tomorrow.
So thats a squad of Long Fangs completed and 16 Grey Hunters partially started, close ups when the painting starts.

Right time for a bit of an update
I've been slacking a bit lately on the painting front even more than normal as I've had this week off, mostly been spending time with my legged family and chilling out.
I actually have finished something though and it took me all week, I had planned loads of painting but you know how it goes.
This is my efforts for the week a Long Fang squad for my Skyrar's Dark Wolves. (click for big pic)
I tried to do some stubble on the sergeants head, I would have entered it into NF09's painting contest but I had already started painting him.
If you don't know what I'm talking about check this out http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/550772.page
I've also been quite lucky on the ebay front and sold most of my Thousand Sons minis which has given me a nice pot of money to fund future projects.
Speaking of which I picked up the new Space Marine codex when it came out and am very impressed. I think its a really nicely laid out book with quite a lot of inspiration for starting new armies. I'm currently working on lists for Omega Marines, Black Templars and Hawk Lords. I'll be doing one for NF09 shortly for a loyalist Alpha Legion army.
I also picked up a copy of Mantic's kings of War book which arrived today, haven't looked at it yet as my head is filled with Space Marines but expect some fantasy stuff to start appearing at some point although I wont be using many of their minis as they are quite poor in my opinion.
I've still got some more stuff in the post which I'll save for another time.
Tomorrow is my kill team tournament so you may get an update on how it went, need to remember the camera....
I think that's enough blabbering for now, I need to go check out NF09's hell bitches

Must apologise for the lack of updates once again
Well hopefully todays update should have been worth waiting for
Its a bit of a mega update, carry on from my last update I went to the kill team tournament and did about average which was expected and this is mostly why there have been no updates since I didnt get best painted army Now I'm not big headed far from it but sometimes you know when you've been had. It was mostly club members who turned up for the event (which I'm not one of) and one of the guys had a new Tyranid army which was painted to an ok standard, yeah need I say more. I was gob smacked to be honest that he took best painted
So my Dark Wolves will be going back at the end of October to try again for best painted, I dont mind if I'm out painted but....
Now on with said update (rant over). I'm in total random mode at the moment apart from painting Wolves so your going to see lots of completely unrelated things next.
Starting off I've been inspired by Filbert's Specialist Games blog which you can find here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/552580.page So I went off and decided to try and find some boats to start a Man O War fleet with. I've managed to pick up half a Skaven fleet so far aiming for 1000 points, of course I need a second fleet and need to make some scenery..... I did manage to find all the rulebooks online in PDF format which is not bad going.
Next we have some rulebooks I've already mentioned the Space Marine codex which I'm in love with and kings of War which I'm looking to get into for some fantasy minis to paint. I'll probally use GW minis as they are loads better but I'm not keen on all their silly new machines etc I like to play with just fantasy races and monsters (last WFB I played was 3rd edition). The other book is the army list book for the Warmachine Convergence of Cyriss fcation which I'll be getting more models for, I've yet to read the main rulebook I like to have two playable forces first as it makes learning easier.
Next up is a cheap bargin for Malifaux which has just had a new rulebook brought out which I've added to my list of things to pick up. The minis are very delicate so I need to get some clippers to remove the from the sprue, I just use a knife for 40k stuff
Even more randomness if thats possible
A start to a Black Templar army, I always pick up metal characters on ebay when I get a chance.
Also inspired by the recent Iron Hands Contempter from FW I tried to copy the paint scheme and came up with this, let me know what you think.
I've also got a mini ready for NF09's face comp, running late as the deadline is at the end of the week but I'm on my hols again this week so its all good.
For those of you looking for some kind of painting update I've not forgotten you heres the last batch of Grey Hunters I finished last weekend, the rest of the squad is nearly finished.
I think thats all from me today I'l be back in the next few days with the rest of the squad , and there's still a load more random stuff to come in the post

Cheers guys.
Nash the Iron Hands attempt was black dry brushed with Vallejo Gun and then washed with GW Baal Red, when that had dried I washed with GW Sepia and added Nuln oil to the edges while the Sepia was still wet.
---------------------
More wolves for you today I'm on a roll trying to get these guys done before the end of the month.
This guy had a second agenda and was entered into NF09's faces painting comp.
While waiting for washes to dry yesterday I also had a play with my Eldar basing.
I made my test mini look more wet as the intention of their basing is to look like they are fighting Guard in the trenches, I like to base my armies in unusual surroundings
I then played with a few others as well and made my first bit of barbed wire, my fingers killed after that
Today I received my Hyperios Air Defence Platforms after spending ages trying to get the sensors to fit into their platform I gave up (after two hours) and phoned FW to say I wasnt happy with them. They said they had included wrong parts in some of the kits and will send out replacements, I do love FW.
Oh speaking about sending stuff back last week I discovered one of my GW paints (new range) and my liquid GS had gone all lumpy and generally unusable, I was told to take them to my local GW and they replaced them which I was quite surprised about.
Well with the current iteration of my Skyrars Dark Wolves army coming to a close at the end of the month I've decided before starting the Exorcists that I need to finish my World Eaters army (bring them upto 1750). This means it will probably be a bit quiet on here for GW models for the rest of the year as I need to save up some cash for them as its mostly FW parts that I need. There will still be stuff of course I cant stop painting, currently I have on my painting table some Eldar, Man O War boats, a box of Malifaux minis and the second Vindicator for the WE's still in its box, theres a lot of other random stuff as well

That face is really well done. You already knew that, but I still wanted to mention it.
Idea for future barbed wire- I've made barbed wire many times and at first I did the same thing you did. That wire is too thick, too hard to bend, too many sharp pointy ends that sink nice and deep into the meat of your thumb, etc.
What I use now is floral arrangement wire.
It is easy to find, inexpensive for a significant amount (I'm still using the original wrap I bought in 2010), and incomparably easier to use. Soft thin wire allows you to wrap barbs around the main strand w/ multiple loops, and the thickness of the wire lends to a more accurate scale. If you want to get really hardcore you can take two pieces of wire for you main strand and double-twist them together, thread a smaller bit of wire between the strands, give it a few wraps, cut to length, and have the best DIY barbed wire anyone will ever see.
Hope that helps. If you like I can post a pic of some of the stuff I've made for a comparison.

Those wolves came out great... and the iron hands test is intriguing... so many cool things to do with layering effects.
As for barbed wire... the pipe cleaner buring method is good and cheap... or if you can find wire window screen, cut it into strips then twist the strips.

I might avoid that as I'd probably have an accident, but thanks Meade
Skalk Bloodaxe wrote:Barbed wire tut is on my Terrain thread. Hope it is of some value to you.
Cheers Skalk that was a great tut, when I get round to making more I'll try and give it a go or I may buy some hand made from ebay similar to what you found
-----
Kind of lost my hobby flow at the moment and havent got much done, still painting Dark Wolves at the moment. Waiting for some replacement parts from FW before I have anything exciting to show you, they are taking their time with re-sending parts I hope they get here in time for me to paint the models before the tournament at the end of the month.
Here's a Long Fang pack leader I finished on the weekend just gone and a piece of scenery I've been working on between washes drying over the last few months. Its not great but I dont really enjoy painting scenery to be honest. I will paint the edges black before using and I hate flock
More Dark Wolves will hopefully follow this weekend.
