A small update today for you of the piece of scenery I finished during the week last week.

It's very unusual for me to paint during the week as I'm too tired but you don't need to worry about staying in the lines with scenery

Here's a few pics, there may be another update tomorrow as well.

Nice to see some added extras on the aquila, really a fun piece to do, and surprisingly big, certainly makes a regular appearance in our games. Now they just need to add rules for a 'defiled imperium' set *grumble grumble imperial bias*

Thanks it was more fun than I thought it was going to be, I really enjoyed using weathering powders on it.

Dr H wrote:Broken eagle thing looks good. Like the shade of rock you have done it in.

Thanks Dr H, I went for a normal slate grey stone effect with a bit of green here and there.

Its quite funny I don't like painting scenery, but always manage to pull it off at the end

---------------------------

I managed to finish some more Relic Knights minis over the weekend, they didn't come out really well to be honest but the models weren't great to start with. the skirts look a bit better in person and I find it hard to paint minis with no faces.....

Relic Knights Purifiers

Nurgle stuff hasn't been posted yet, I guess it could be a while so I decided to start something else now while I wait.

Next update should have some Malifaux minis, I've just strated painting the Latigo Posse and quite getting into them, it's very different to paint in browns for a change.

More to follow next weekend.

A short update for you tonight I have a lot of things to show so will spread them out through the week as its too late for me tonight but I didn't want to leave you empty hand at the end of the weekend.

So I bring to you my first Malifaux minis, The Latigo Posse. I know the Enslaved Nephilim isn't there but he will be in a future update as he requires a different palette so has to be painted separate, well it makes him feel a bit more special

Here we go, I'll leave you with these until tomorrow when I have something else to show you....

Perdita Ortega

Santiago

I love the fact that the only thing you can see of Perdita is her breasts. Lovely model really.

It's to disturb the opponent. ^^
The team looks good. I like the bases... they are simple, but fit perfectly to the theme.

Must admit I did spend more time on those than the rest of the model, had to get them just right

Solar_lion wrote:Lovely indeed. However Santiago is well done. Very Dramatic pose.

Cheers, Yeah his pose is really cool, i really like how his leather jacket came out.

Makes a good distraction

Yeah I chose basic bases for these guys due to their very dark colours I wanted something bright but not too distracting.

Now we have todays mini. Dr Doom

He was entered into a painting comp on another forum but sadly didn't place. It was really hard work blending the green into the metallics to make it look like reflections.

More tomorrow...

I really like Santiago as well. Jacket is awesome, I'm impressed at how much it looks like leather.

I think I join the consensus when I say my personal favourite of the Posse is Santiago, lovely understated palette and a suitably dynamic pose works for me.

I also don't think it's possible to not like a Dr. Doom figure. Kudos on working on the reflections, I find the mere thought of that alarming.

Cheers, I'm glad people think the leather came out ok, I managed to do it without using washes.

Thanks those reflections were a bit worrying to start with, once I got the mix right it was all good.

Weclome to my blog

---------------------------------------

A WIP progress shot from the weekend just gone, not sure how I managed so much its very unlike me.

So we have my second Malifaux crew No Shelter Here led by Pandora

And some Ysians for Darklands

My priming box is getting quite full now so hopefully it will be warm enough this weekend to whip out the spary.

Still no sign of my Nurgle dudes yet which is a bit disappointing as I'm in a 40k mood at the moment, I've still got one of Perdita's crew members to do this weekend and then might see if I have anything in my primed box that needs painting for 40k. I know there are some Swooping Hawks in there, we shall see though.

Ooh I rather like the neverborn from Malifaux, really shouldn't be starting yet another game though, hard enough to do anything with the current ones!

Is there a game to go with the Dr Doom mini or are they just for the fun of it? Cape looks good large areas of cloth are still a bit of a nightmare area for me.

Yeah I don't play much of anything to be honest so it doesn't really affect me if I get distracted multiple times during a project

There is supposed to be a game in the works for the Marvel minis, no idea how long it will be until we see it though.

You could blend the colors a bit much, but it's already good looking as it is.

What range is it ?

GiraffeX reporting in

Lots of things going on in my model world at the moment but sadly no time to do any of it, work has literally taken over my life, cant remember when I had a day off last

Every now and then I get a spare half hour and do a bit of tinkering, too tired to paint.

My current painting project is my Biel-tan Swooping Hawks they aren't really fit to show but I wanted to do an update to show I'm still alive. So here they are I'm going to repaint the beaks green as they look like budgies at the moment The weapons will be black highlighted turquoise. The green armour needs a level or two more highlighting and the suits under the armour need to be darkened, the new GW Nuln Oil isn't up to the job so a replacement is on order. I'm probably going to be blending some ice blue into the white armour as well. They will get there its just sad to see them sitting there every night without any progress.

Next we have a finished mini from just after I finished the Malifaux Latigo Posse, well he's part of the posse.

Enslaved Nephilim

Then we have the next batch of Darklands minis that I managed to glue together on Friday. This is Baagath's Herd led by Naraa, Tain of Baalor, looking forward to painting these guys.

Lastly my start to my Kings of War project. I've been collecting Wood Elf models over the last few weeks and this is my first unit of Wardancers who will be acting as Palace Guard. For this game I'm going more for the scenic base effect, I'm never going to play anyone real so thought I'd do something more interesting. This unit represents 20 Palace guard, base sizes will always be right, model counts not so much. I've a few pics of the steps I've gone though making the base.

Initial stone and model placement

Filling in with cork to make the base up to the same level as the models bases

Adding the sandy paste, I really should have painted the models first but I like a challenge

I've got a few characters as well but the standard size base seems too small, I was wondering what people thought of using 32mm round bases? It would make them stand out and give me a bit more of a modelling opportunity.

Looking good! Different base sizes for characters wouldn't worry me. I pretty much do the same for some of them myself!

Yeah I like to mix and match projects helps keep it interesting, The Mierce stuff is very nice really looking forward to painting more.

Azazelx wrote:Looking good! Different base sizes for characters wouldn't worry me. I pretty much do the same for some of them myself!

Thanks Azazelx I think it will help them stand out a bit more on a nice scenic base. I've got a few Character models for my Wood Elves so hopefully I'll get a chance to play with them this weekend.

Not really much to report still, I think I've just finished my work marathon so hopefully hobby stuff will pick up again. I did add some more paint to a Swooping Hawk yesterday and he looks much better now without the yellow beak, he's not quite ready to show yet but hopefully I'll have him finished this weekend then his friends will follow.

I always find Kings of War basing interesting without having to remove models from units - it definitely opens up modelling possibilities! Love those wood elves so far.

Thanks RiTides, I've got ideas for quite a few armies. Going to start each one off small and then expand out slowly.

It's nice to have some fantasy minis lined up in the painting queue as well.

There not fantastic as I don't really like painting up from a white undercoat but I'm quite happy with them.
