The laser cut plastic is tremendous! I've been wondering about windows myself, that's a cool idea.

Also like the shattered glass, where did that come from? Is it better than cut up blister plastic?

Oh alright I'll hunt around the 'ol bits chest and make some Mantis Warriors anything I should adhere to when creating them,& would Gits be interested in one as a gift from 'ol Nerdy? even though he already has Mantii (sic)

and Ruglud the laser cut plastic is much easier to work with than cut up blister pack it's already 'shattered' and you trim it off with scissors and then plastic glue it onto your frames, the sheet I pictured cost me $15- but it will just about do my entire village when I get my other buildings! especially as you don't have to do 'every' window!

Oh, and let me wax lyrical here for a moment, I scored off ebay 12 old issues of WD for 4 bucks including an old space marine codex in excellent condition! :-) but I digress, I had a flick through the WD's and was choking on my Gweneth Paltrow's at the prices I saw! it's amazing how soon we forget that once apon a time you could buy 20 Imperial guard troops for $29.95! and I saw a voucher that said when you buy a GW Battle force for $125.00 you get a second one for FREE! I mean, that's crazy talk now days! and don't get me started on the cool photo's of battles and terrain they had! pics were poor quality but the ideas and execution was 10x better than now! I wish I could scan and post pages on here 'cos some of it is just so nostalgic!

I absolutely love the marble effect. I may try that out!

Also, I seem to have forgotten, what was the liquid in the tanks made from?

@Squig, the 'liquid' is actually a silicone that is 18x clearer than normal silicone I found in the shed in a tube used in a caulking gun, I mixed some green ink into it and it went similar to a stiff sticky jelly if you stir it around, it's hard to manouvre and don't drop it on the carpet! :-0

The main reason I skip pages in my old ones... There was a full page of coupons in one for a store opening. And the Mordheim one complete with that rectangle on the front that says "free miniature".

Yea I used to have some old WD that showed step by step how to build AWESOME terrain and even some vehicles they didnt make yet. It was incredible. Now.....BUY OUR PRODUCT MWAHAHAHAHAHAAA! Also, I still have the very first codex I ever bought, when I was 15, it was an IG dex, and I paid a whopping $13 bucks for it....infact it was $12.95 to be exact. Yikes, considering I have to pick up my sons Chaos dex for $50 But I will admit, current codices, have WAY more content in them so theres that at least.

O.k I caved..... I wanted marine statues...... and i went and bought 2x honoured imperium boxes! Gah!

so now, I've decided to paint the large statues as bronze and verdigris as suggested by Viktor von domm! but the quandry is now the shattered aquila's? one i will do in a black and gold flecked marble finish but what about the other? should I do another marble colour or convert it into a chaos type objective I can use in game to destroy?

Wow nerdfest. Just wow. Read through your entire blog....(and by read I mean looked at the pics) and I have to say its all amazing!

Your red and green painting are both incredible with their smoothness, Its made me very jealous and will have to redouble my efforts to get half as good!

Your marble is also stunning, its wierd (having read your blog backwards) seeing how you gradually got worse at it. (that sounds very harsh, but to give it context your latest ones are absolutely 100% perfect in my opinion whereas before they were only 90% perfect.)

You have also inspired me to give some scenery a serious try, the broken glass in particular is brilliant.

Oh J-Paint! dude, thanks so much! that's one of the nicest positive comments i've got I know what you mean about reading backwards and getting worse lol I love the fact that in a couple of years i've improved a fair bit and really enjoying the process of learning more and more! I gotta say your work is amazing too and I subscribed to see what I could learn from watching you paint ages ago, so i'm sure your influence is in there somewhere!

if you want someone to bounce ideas for doing things off in regards to strange painting ideas or terrain? i'm all ears and that goes for anyone who hangs out here and wants to figure something out!

I'm currently working on a Mantis Warrior for Gitsplitta and should have pics this week of him hopefully finished! i'm going to try something with him that hopefully will look cool!

O.k last night I bought Gits marine into work with me, it was assembled and just primed with Angel green primer from The Army Painter range I just gave it a couple of coats of Warpstone glow and a wash of thrakka green ink:


Then tonight at work i went from that to this using warpstone glow, Camo green and daemonic yellow

Looking great! It always confuses me when people use these new fangled GW paint names. I miss my skull white and chaos black!

I know I know! the new names are stupid imo! but in old name circles i used Snot green/Camo green & Bad Moon yellow :-)
