well then, where do i start today? how about with a package from Dsteingass! I thought I was scoring myself some sponsons (and I did) but he was kind enough to include for me a whole bunch of other goodies for me! some wargames factory soldiers, a bag full of IG arms which is truly going to be so useful! some plasticard and pvc foam?! I am gonna be a Nerd tornado! lol!


and as excited as I was I stopped dancing around and got to work adding the sponsons to my tanks here's where i got too with them, I only need to get some really thin plastic rod to make some welds where I damaged a couple of bits

Oh I can't forget what made me dance like a loon now can i! I am now the proud owner of a genuine Dave special Nuka Cola machine! and it turned out quite the Lord Commissar's favorite beverage, he had to stop the Guardsmen pilfering it all!


I also got stuck into the tanks I bought from here on dakka, the Devil Dog more precisely, I had to pry off the barrel cover for painting which damaged the links on the rear so I made some now hoses to fit into it and then gave it some hazard stripe treatment as that stuff is VOLATILE!


I did remove the hatch too, as I hear the drivers of these kind of assault vehicles are pretty reckless? and i wanted to add a suitable head poking out the top roaring head first into battle!

Now, for the main part of my day, it was both fun and disappointing as i was painting the pilots for my Vendetta's I was planning to give them a basic paint due to the canopy's being semi opaque now, but, I ended up really enjoying the journey and doing a job i really like so now I need to find myself some more canopies on ebay as i want to be able to see these top guns in the seats! especially as JASON STATHAM is piloting one but first the hull interior, just a fast one.

and now the pilots!

and I tried to be tricky here and paint a representation of the Australian flag on their uniforms!


and I took these the other morning at work, I was retrieving a guests vehicle and the sun was coming up hitting the mist over the lake and was too beautiful not to photograph! I know it's off topic for a hobby forum but i hope they give you guys the same feeling of calm and happiness they gave me (even though i was working! )

Wow. The pilots are snazzy and the view ain't half bad either. Also, I'm going to steal your hazard stripe board edge for my rob, I think.

Nice to see someone is getting the sun, it's all snow here...in spring! I think England is gearing up to completely ignore summer and just go straight to autumn after it finally gets round to raining through spring.

lol, ah the fickle weather around the globe eh! :-) but yes sometimes it is nice to see what's around us that we miss with our busy lives! now when you combine that with our hobbies! wow it's good sitting outside on a nice day maybe with an ice cold pear cider over ice clipping off models from sprues and reading some old decent white dwarf mags!

the Detta's are coming along nicely now I've painted the tricky parts, i'll mask them off when i prime and paint if i've read the instructions correctly! the pilots I am pleased with, I wanted to give my IG as much personality as I can throughout with bare heads and named guys! so I can really see these guys destroying tanks and performing daring manoeuvres with Jason Statham at the stick! although I think he should be re named to suit the grim dark? perhaps he should be JASON STRAFE-EM?

Dave, the box arrived pretty quick too! I wasn't expecting it until next week! I really am grateful for the parts and extra's! you didn't have to give me so much mate! I promise it'll go to good projects :-)

I'm a little late to the party, but i like what your doing with the IG stuff.

I'll be hanging around to see where you go with them

Yay! it's update day! I got cracking with my Vendatta's, got them both built and primed and then had a chance to whack on the camo pattern too I think they are looking sweet! especially with Jason Strafe-em in the seat!





I was also thinking about my Storm Troopers and all the lovely MadRobot heads I have and want! originally I was going to use the beret heads i painted but I think more tech warfare heads would work better? so, I am using the beret heads as my Sarge's for each Vet squad and when the nvg heads are released I'll use them for my stormies!


that's today done and dusted! Chimera work again tomorrow! I MUST finish them

I might be doing very minor weathering on them but not much, I imagine they are maintained better than the tanks as they either return from the field of battle or they get blown from the sky, where the tanks are the brawlers the Detta's are the kickboxers

I want to finish the Chimera's first and i'm just about to go and start on them again right........now

Thanks dudes! a temple of Nerdfest! now that sounds like a terrain project for sure I'm glad everyone likes the progress on the Guard, the Detta's are going to look awesome I think, the models are really beautiful and i enjoyed the assembly for once! I did plan on spraying the underside of them in a sky blue but I don't think i'll bother with that now

the 3 Chimera's are nearly finished too! I just ran out of time by about 2 hours I was going to take pics but then i thought it would be better to just show you finished examples rather than nearly done ones.

Steve, your heads were the sole driving force behind my army, without them I honestly would not have even started IG but they give so much personality to them and are a lot of fun, not to mention the quality of each and every single head you sell! I have a headless driver of my Devil Dog waiting for this weekends release! I shall also take some better shots of everything soon and then send some through to Mad Robot as well as chuck them up here, that last one with the beret head was rubbish!

The cockpit models look plenty fine. I didn't realized you switched to Imperial Guard. :-) I agree, berets on IG makes them all look like Green Beret from the Commandos franchise.

Ahh , I think you should do the undersides in blue or grey or blue/grey. But they look great as is.
Are you not going to carry the camo' pattern over the cockpit frame either? I do realise that would be really difficult with the colour fade.

Nope, i think I'll leave the canopy frame the base colour, I like how it stands out and acts as kind of a focal point for the flyers :-) I did think about making them metallic originally but changed my mind after I'd already camo'd the planes lol!

Ta Daaaaaa! 3 Chimera transports finished for my MechVets! I'm pretty pleased with the result on them, I like the style which to my eyes is a cross between weathered and cartoonish, but in a good way, the bold highlighting on some additions juxtaposed with the muted chipped dusty body of each vehicle

they match my Russ nicely too which just makes me want to paint more tanks I'm really enjoying them! so, next I need to force myself to paint some more Vets squads, I have about 60 Guardsmen to paint up!

love to see what you think of these guys!















and I started base coating my other tanks that I want to paint! do you think I have enough? seriously? what else can I obtain to use efficiently? I have now 2 Punishers, Devil Dog, LRBT, Executioner! that's a lot of painting! not to mention my Vendetta's and troops!


well, I hope you like my progress today! I'm gonna go to bed for a rest now, I'm not feeling 100% and i start work again tomorrow
