That must be a UK thing, can you guys buy surgical stuff on every corner there? old-fashioned #11 X-acto blades are much more predictable IMHO....and cheap.

Surgical blades are designed for cutting soft tissue, perhaps it's not the right tool for cutting plastic? I have a couple, but I don't like them, the blades are only curved (which is anathema to cutting a straight line), and the blade and handle are not separate, once it's dull, you have to throw the whole thing away. Perhaps yours are different?

Why do kids think hobby shops are old fashioned? Do you know there isn't a tool or technique made by GW that hasn't already been done a bazillion times over 50 years by scale modelers or model railroaders? You're cutting off your proverbial sack by discounting those. go get a proper knife for $3 man!

..I think this is my purpose and destiny..to teach old farts that modeling isn't dead, kids didn't give it up for video games, we just have no interest in building models of cold-war planes because the old farts have already done them all..and to teach young kids that GW is just a commercial tip of the hobby iceberg that is out there...

..The only problem with old-fashioned hobby shops is the old farts that work/haunt them. For instance..go into your local model railroad shop, walk up to the man and say " I would like to buy some Grandt Line Rivets Please"- then he'll say "we don't stock them and I can order them for ya- have it in two weeks"- and then you say "I want to see them first to see if they fit my necromnunda terrain"- and he looks at you liek you were speaking Japanese...

I don't i just think the best ones have an old fashioned feel to them which i like and is different when compared to GW stores. But unlesss the owners or people who work there have had children or freinds or themeslfs that have collected warhamemer they won't understand a word! lol... Yea i think that modl;ing isent dead too, but may have mioved on a bit ie its more wargaming and airfix now and less milltary moderlers, yet there are still loads of them left too!!!!

Dude, ouch. I got myself pretty good this last weekend but it wasn't stitches. The longer you model the more your hands will look like torture victims.

Regarding photos...

I use my painting lamps, but put up matte boards for pics.

See what direction the lamps are facing?

I don't know!

Hi guys,
The second reposed guy is nearly done! This is the guy who I cut my thumb over, I decided to give him a bionic leg as I lost the other shin. The shin is far too long however, yet still like the model! The plate on the rear of the shin is meant to replicate muscle structure and reform balance (both of which is used in prosthetic limbs today) so is the foot like the shape of a shoe (longer on one side).

Thanks again for looking,

HAZZER.

Nice looking bionic leg. Shortening it will give you more practise. Should be faster the second time around. Good sign of things to come.
