Those tiles are pretty neat! The price seems right as well. I imagine shipping would probably double it, though T_T
The tin man is coming along quite nicely, as well. Big fan of the feathered wings

I'm not sure. In the UK, the postage for one sheet is about £1 as it is the size of a large envelope and doesn't weigh much
I'll check later and work out how much US postage would be for one or more sheets

Much appreciated!
I occasionally see some version of the 'Headless Horseman' (strangely enough often sporting a pumpkin head to alleviate his headlessness) that comes close, but nothing yet has been able to scratch this particular itch...

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. No Dr Smith yet I'm afraid. This year I've been meaning to paint up a WW1 model, given the anniversary. A nice model that I found was T E Lawrence. He of Arabia fame...
He'll be good for mythos-y/pulp games. I just need to sort out some troops to go with him on his sandy adventures

Nice metallics, and can see how beaten up he is more clearly now therre's some paint on him...good job so far.
You could have the remains of a broken axe on the base if you still want to incorporate that iconography?
If there's only small, heavily weathered areas of paintwork left on him, some green and brown probably wouldn't jar too much with the Emerald Inquisitor....

Thanks! Some of the flaws were miscast elements on the model enlarged with a knife; others were just plain ol' carving. He does look pretty beaten up. I can't decide if he's too shiny though. I might try to dull him down a bit with weathering later

I think maybe give him a well known chapter, something to bring him back to the 40k side of things. Very minimal though. Maybe something like Iron Hands or Son's of Medusa?
Edit: Better idea. What about a repentant Celestial Lion? Hanging with the inquisitor, chapter icons covered, proving himself without repair.

I'm involved in a painting challenge over on Blogger to paint up as much as possible over the next few months, which should hopefully kickstart some updates on here. Unfortunately anything with paint already on it is disqualified from the challenge, so the Tin Man has had to go on the back burner for a bit.
Because I'm fickle and utterly incapable of sticking to one project at a time, I caved recently and bought some Perry plastic War of the Roses models so I could try the Medieval skirmish game, Lion Rampant.
So far I've built 6 mounted men at arms, 12 archers, 12 pike, 12 dismounted men at arms, a spare kingly type (just because) and one standard bearer. These all use bits from all 4 WotR plastics, plus some Warlord Commando bits when I needed new hands or some bare heads. These Perry plastics are *really* nice to work with. Much much better than the horrible malformed Empire plastics from GW.
The basing is designed to work with individual figures on 20mm round bases, or in the trays for larger battles (either Hail Caesar, or Warhammer... depends if I ever get around to joining out local gaming group). They should also see action in 7TV/7th Voyage games too.
This little force is going to belong to Richard Woodville, 1st Earl Rivers. Why? Purely because I like his magpie livery
After a little chat to Citadel6, they kindly made me the livery transfers for him last week to go with the banner they already do. The transfers are now up on their site for anyone else that wants them.
Here's a sneak peek at the dismounted men at arms and the pikes. The middle MaA in the first photo is clearly saying "I'm coming for you..."
Eventually the second small force will be Henry Stafford as my wife is from Staffordshire and I went to university up there too. I've no idea if they ever ended up facing off against each other, but I'm not all that historically ocd that it matters much.

They are highly, highly recommended. I've been having lots of fun kitbashing them all. The Bows/Bills set and the Mercenaries set contain the same bodies and heads though, so there's not quite so much crossover benefits with those two kits as I was hoping. The equipment arms and the command frames are different though.
If you don't have anything to use them for (other than WFB) Lion Rampant is also worth a look. Automatically Appended Next Post: Llamahead wrote:Look great been idly considering basing an Empire army on these and the Warlord Games historicals for a while.
It would certainly look a lot nicer than a GW based one... if a little smaller as they are a lot more realistically proportioned. The only issues would come when trying to get wizards, monsters and some of the more fantastical warmachines. It'd be an interesting challenge though

The four crossbows you see here all started off with exactly the same pose body, but two of them have had leg swaps to provide a bit more diversity on the figures. Hopefully I can use the remaining bits to get at least one archer out of it so the models aren't completely lost. The swordsman head is another Warlord commando head.
These won't be usable in a game of Lion Rampant yet though as I only have one more body left and they will be coming in groups of 12. I need to find another 6 of this head type and 6 of the body with jacket over a breastplate... why oh why did I decide to make the mercs have a uniform?! If anyone has any of this body or head going spare that they would be willing to swap for some of the other bodies/heads on any of the Wotr kits, PM me
The first batch are currently sitting in the cold cold garage being undercoated as tomorrow marks the first day of the painting challenge... so expect painting updates soon!

Just to make it even more fitting, I painted this beat up while watching Cowboys Vs Aliens just to get the creative juices flowing. The model is from the long awaited Shadows of Brimstone kickstarter which, for those of you that havn't been paying attention, is a weird wild west dungeon crawler, similar to Warhammer quest. Your party of cowboys venture into some mines in search of mystical Darkstone crystals and gateways to other worlds, while fending off large, lovecraftian beasts such as the Night Terror. He's going to work just as well for something to be mauled by in Strange Aeons too
The model has lots of lumps and bumps all over it's shoulders and looks mightily annoyed... so I wondered if those lumps are actually chunks of darkstone that have become welded to some poor beast's back somehow; driving it insane with pain.
It doesn't take a microscope to see the joins in this model. I didn't really have time to sit and carefully sculpt over all of them as this was for a painting competition; though I did manage to at least lessen the impact of them with some liquid greenstuff before undercoating. The next two, along with all the other multi-part SoB models will probably be left until after the challenge is over, so I can spend time properly filling in and hiding all the joints. I hope the rest of the models aren't this gappy, though I'm not holding my breath as whoever did the sprue layout or QA on these wasn't paying much attention.

Just to give some semblance of scale to this thing, here he is next to a WIP King Richard III. I'll bet that fight didn't happen in the film, or the book!

Oh god. I've gone done it again and forgotten all about dear ol' Dakka :(
I aten't ded. Not yet anyway...
Just because I've not been here, doesn't mean there isn't anything been done, I just... forgot to update Dakka. You've a *lot* to catch up on. I'll update this slowly over the next few days so as to not drown you in pictures. As I mentioned earlier, I'd started a painting challenge to see how much I could paint in 3 months. The answer is actually rather a lot!
Here is everything in it's glory (minus a few presents given to friends at Christmas)
So where to start? I guess where we left off would be good. When last we spoke I had some unpainted War of the Roses figures. These got expanded upon and painted in one big batch, giving me a small, but playable force for Lion Rampant or Hail Caesar
We have 11 archers, with their sergeant/whatever
11 Bills, with their commanding whatever
12 dismounted men-at-arms, plus a standard
6 mounted men-at-arms

Supported by some merc crossbows
I'm rather pleased with how these guys came out, especially the hand painted livery on everyone
