Well... it's not easy to tell which category I should join...As many other contestants I can't choose between "aspiring" and "exalted" (there is a gap between my modelling and my painting skills).

As I like a good challenge, I'd go for "exalted".

@ Camkierhi and Desubot- - Yes to both. Use whatever you wish. The spirit of the contest is random junk from the gutter or driveway but in the end it is your model on your table.

@ Joe- Go for Exalted. The paint is not Golden Daemon fades and highlights, it is gritty brown and chunky rust.

@ hk1x1- You'll be in a tough category and I think the motivation will push you to your best.

Work is very busy today so I'll keep up as I can. I have some time blocked tonight hopefully starting around 10pm-ish -11pm EST and I'll do some cleanup on the rules and post a list of of current contestants and the category they are competing in.

I think the level of participation supports it, however with no WIP shots, there won't be much content until the end.

I think another blog would be alright, especially if it gets more contestants. Not that we don't have enough for a gaggle right now, but a google would be EPIC.

And Gits I agree but I'd still rather no WIP (or early finishers) to not scare anyone new away. The 4 categories for different skill levels will mitigate that to an extent. Plus I'll be inviting more people directly so participation shouldn't be an issue.

Also for everyone I'm subbed to- I might not be visiting your thread again until the startup for this contest is ready and running. Just wanted to say that for some reason.

Not taken that way at all. I completely agree that things will quiet down a bit for a while. I expect there to be at least some daily banter, and if necessary I'll post a daily inspirational quote such as

Also, if anyone can help me by compiling current contestants w/ assigned categories from the last few pages of this thread and PM / post here it will save me some time tonight.

I'm off to work shortly myself and tomorrow have meetings and uh, but might be able to compile on Friday. I say everyone involved must post in the thread a progress update weekly. No WIP pics, or anything along those lines just little FYI like "parts collected and dry fit, or primered and waiting painting, or painted and ready for judging, or I'm so far behind" this may help with keeping people on track. Also if ou wanted here could be a nominal point deduction for no updates, which might help break ties at the end. Just a suggestion.

Seems like a new thread would make it easier to follow, and to retroactively update the front page with winners etc... without hijacking your own lovely thread further. Sounds like a good idea in that case.

Put me down for whatever you see fit, exalted and above sounds like thats where the competition is at.

Question: Is it ok to use parts from previous projects that didn't work out right and/or were junked? Only i've got a fair few bits lying around that are only suitable for basing or throwing.

Phew, I just got back from the States and remembered your PM Stalky so here I am!

I should probably be able to whip a base up soonish. Unfortunately you caught me at a bad time what with midterms, finals and a heap of projects so I'll probably end up starting it around the 10th of December or something..

Would I be able to add a broken down drone to the base or would that be considered as a miniature if I made it the focal point of the scene?

EDIT: Oh, and for ranking, I dunno. I would probably place myself as an Aspiring Champion? While I can pull off some awesome stuff from time to time my general ability is somewhat lacking due to my tendency to rush stuff.
