And now time for some terrain.

This is the Space Elf Command Module from brush4hire. The kit feels pretty good, all the pieces fit together tightly, so while I used glue to hold it together and you will for some parts, some of the other parts that slot together do so that tightly that they're fine to be left as is instead. The design also feels pretty good, it's actually really really solid.

Not where I should be

Love the look of it, really suits your ascetic. How much will be white with the flower. Seems to ask for more than the units. Also how did it take paint. Did it soak up alot, did you seal it first?

Thanks

I just primed it with some gw black primer I had around. I don't think it's been soaking up the paint. It's just been going on like normal basically.

Those two large black areas will be white, the other side is identical to this side. The gems I've decided on OSL blue, so more white will come in that way and really I don't think I should do much more than those four blocks because of it.

I think I forgot to mention it before, but that doubles tournament I had been painting up for; I came second in.

Used the gift certificate prize today to get a new wraithlord.

Also cut and moved the guns on the other so they'll both have arm mounted scatter lasers later. Instead of a second wraithknight, I figured I'll take the originally planned two wraithlords with scatter lasers. This puts me over a little, but I can knock the crimson hunter to standard from an exarch and it fits perfectly again.

I actually really like the look of it despite knowing that those are shoulder mounted flamethrowers. But then they literally only exist on a wraithlord for overwatch.
I tried to make a pointing hand for the outstretched arm but failed, so went with the open hand I have a bunch of cause I always use the fist. However I intend to try it again because when I finally get to making a wraithseer, the idea is to have a Iyanna Arienal stand in on the base if possible (or not if it's too crowded really), but the wraithseer should be pointing and obviously look better than a standard wraithlord.

I have two more scatters coming in the mail for the first wraithlord. Going to see how they look in its current leaning forward pose. Should be able to move the arms around a bit until it looks better if not.

Well team tourney so was allied with a wych cult in venoms (basically direct enemy from lore I've thrown together for myself for this craftworld ).

First was CSM and Tzeentch Daemons. Pink horrors everywhere and a tzeentch prince who ended up flying into our defense line and was ripped apart by three venoms and a wave serpent.
Second was Space Wolves and Necrons. Wolves everywhere with a trio of thunderwolf calvary running behind them, a squad of tacticals around. Necrons were just a bunch of warriors, the long transport thing and the barge I think.
Third was Dark Angels (basically ravenwing with a squad of normal terminators and some devistators around) and Tyranids, hormagaunts, termagaunts, swarmlord, deathleaper and a mawloc.

First place if I remember right was a small GK strike force of from what I could see a dk, land raider and some terminators with some DE, not sure what but I think I saw three raiders.

Anyway in total that day I lost 5 wraithguard and the wave serpent. The pink squad (I have markers on the back of the base rim to show squads) was basically the anvil, it got hit hard in assaults at times (against thunderwolf calvery) and other times it tarpitted as needed (remaining gaunts for ages). The blue squad however spent most of the day waiting in the serpent with the seer, and showed why they could be lazy.
The mawloc showed up in the final game, taking out a bunch of the wyches. It mishapped and I got to place it, so did in the space behind the ruins the pink squad were in. They were charged by the gaunts. The blue squad stepped out of the wave serpent and marched over to it, executing the mawloc. The last battle was the best I've played in a while, the opponents I had hear talking about how tough my Eldar seemed and how they didn't want to fight them. They were tough, but not the stomp they seemed to think from the wraithknight.
It started somewhat onesided, but mostly it was because the tyranid didn't use cover and wanted to take the open ground. The deathleaper came scuttling into a forest for my defense line, the wyches met up with it and after a pretty cool combat it was shot and gone. Venoms and the wave serpent killed the swarmlord before it could do much, making it pay a bunch for that mistake of not staying in cover. The gaunts got mowed down a bunch, but still made it to combat and held on for a while not doing much. The Dark Angels had more success taking shots with plasma cannons (the DE had deployed with 3 venoms close enough together that one shot hit all of them and imobilised one at the very start ).

Back to working on the webway assembly, up to doing the second last layer of pink. But, only on one side at the moment.
Get to work on the white soon then the OSL, freehanding then it's done.

Well the Webway Assembly is finally finished.

It's nice to finally have a nice piece of terrain for them. I should work on a board, but I've been looking at finding a bigger white shelf so I can fit in more for a picture.

I was also happy with how the OSL came out, seemed a bit off for a bit but I got the look I was after in the end.

I'll be working on finishing those 5 wraithguard with scythes next, but first the scatters arrived for the other wraithlord so the two are ready to prime.

This set up is basically the Ork set up for Eldar.
I'm also planning on adding a Wraithseer to this now that I've found out Forgeworld actually takes paypal now.
These lords would probably make some nice looking bodyguard for it.

Agreed.

I think the finished webway assembly looks fantastic. Good ratio of pink to white and with just enough blue to accent it.

Finished this squad now. Haven't assigned them a squad colour yet cause not sure how I'm going to do it with the Scythes yet. (If I'll overlap the colours with the normal wraithguard squads or not).

Also ordered the Wraithseer.
Anyways I have two seers and two wraithlords primed to paint and an unopened box of wraithguard. I'm considering building them as standard as well. Wraithblades I'm considering as well though...

Yet another model to be a counts as spiritseer done.
Messed around with camera settings a bunch to get one I like better without flash, as the flash was cutting through the blending on it.

Moving on with the Wraithlords, I've built the 4th WG squad now, meaning if I count the Dscythes as Wraithcannons instead I have the full 1500 built already.

So here's a look at the 1500 list so far.

Also the Wraithseer has shipped, so perhaps there will be even less living in this army soon. Then again I am tempted by the other aspect warriors, although that goes against the theme of my army I could probably have some of them around for more fun really.

Thing is to think if I'll paint them as aspect with some pink, or just use the same pallet I have. Obviously with the Warpspiders (since I only got around to painting 1 of the 10 I got when I still had the blue scheme) the back could be completely white as it's a nice surface for freehand. But for now I'm probably best focusing on the wraiths.

Planning on having a game with the list for the first time on the 24th, so I'll see just how well the Crimson Hunter goes. If it's pretty disappointing I might consider adding in some more wraiths or upgrading some stuff. It's sort of awkward to transport.
But, then that would mean I would have 25 wraithguard in this 1500 point list. It sounds like it would be tough, but I feel like it could potentially open up weaknesses with anti-infanty or really since it's a default CH, some fast AT and anti-flyer support. This would be easier if the WK could be moved to elite or if I just went unbound, but trying to not go unbound just yet.
The other option is to mess around with the wraith formation and fill in the gaps leftover, may need to look at that.

Thanks, but it's alright. I actually got one for my birthday and built it, but one of the cats decided to take over from there and has hidden it somewhere.

This was almost done, but some ink stuff happened somehow, maybe it fell over or something. But need to clean that up a bit first.

The two games yesterday were a nice test for me.
Was against Dark Eldar, list was basically like: 4 splinter cannon venoms with 5 man wyche units, raider with 8 wyches and a succubus, 2 razorwings, 9 reavers, 3 reavers, 3 reavers.
The main thing I learnt was just how quickly these wraithlords can fall and how much I love the telepathy table.
The crimson hunter was alright, it felt a bit weaker than I expected but it was fine otherwise. The main issue was it's awkward to transport. The razorwing is nice cause of how flat it sits, transport is better for it this way but at least for the bag I have now the issue with the hunter are the vertical fins. Basically I don't want to break it and feel I'm probably better looking for something else with the 160 points I'll have to play with. This could be easy as upgrading 2 wraith units to D-Scythes then throwing some upgrades to the seers for utility. But I'm also looking at warp spiders and 2 hornets with pulsar lasers. More fun when the wraithseer shows up cause with the D-Cannon I'll be looking at over 200 for that so probably as an expansion to over 1500.

The issue with me and Eldar is I like all the units, but its also a good thing cause there's so many things to play around with. Thematically I think the hornets would be the best fit. Going with the painted over canopy like the other vehicles instead of having pilots in them. They would also provide the swift and strong fire support I wanted the crimson hunter for (even more of it), but perhaps be a little more fragile (unless I also free up the points for holofields ) but with twice the shots. It then opens up more of a weakness to flyers since the most reliable anti-flyer I'll have will probably be those two wraithknights. So it's all something to think about. On the other hand the warp spiders add more living models to the army, which was something I was at first limiting, but basically do the job of the hunter easy enough. As well as add anti-infantry this list has issue with too (which is mostly dealt with by the wraithlords).

As for the wraithguard they performed sort of crappily in the first game, I think this is more my fault as I played more defensively this game. The second I whittled down some stuff with shooting then used them agressively on foot with the seers' support to sweep at the remaining venoms and such. In the first game I actually sort of wished I had some wraithblades to deal with melee. The only melee unit I have really is the wraithknight, which is just the standard but that's enough for the right targets.

D-scythes however would obviously be invaluable but I don't want to tip the balance I have with ranges too far to short. With how sort of slow everything is since I'm going on foot, having too much 8" flamer fun would make it too easy to be simply avoided mostly. Sure they probably won't get charged, but that's not always as useful as it sounds.
What's everyone's opinions on this stuff?

Painted up one of the warp spiders to see what it's like since I'm going to be waiting to get some more galeforcenine snow flock instead of the crappy one I have at the moment.

FLGS doesn't seem to stock the gf9 snow, but their other products. Don't think many do snow which is the problem really. But the snowflock I have is alright, just to me it doesn't look as good. Probably better for something like 15mm scale instead.

Love it man! Looks fantastic and bloody inspiring! are you just painting or is that a legit list? I'd like to try my hand at some Eldar one day but don't like the troops! :-) something like what you've done would certainly be right in my interest one day! how many spiders have you got to do? the fluff for them and the scorpions are some of my favorite 40k stuff eva!

It's a legit list you just need a spiritseer to take wraithguard as troops. Managing to fit in about 7 spiders including the exarch if I'm remembering it right, so 6 more with the exarch.

It's surprisingly tough at times, but poison is a pretty big challenge. You could run them in wave serpents with dscythes if you want to go for the really strong optimal version of this. Could run tournaments without problems that way.

I was considering it a lot and juggled the two ideas and decided in the end if I left it to just the exarchs it would help them be distinguished a bit more. Also a neat way to have an exarch while keeping it with base equipment without having the power blades one if I wanted.
