Aha! Casting problems! That was part of my huge and lost reply. I was wondering if ther was any evidence of this? I've just seen a tiny rumbling but no pictures or anything.

Agreed it is such a useful thread, have got some really good ideas from it!

Prices for the Spartan stuff definitely seems reasonable - and glad to see we are finally getting some competition in terms of pricing!

Those miniatures also seem quite cool, might be useful for some kind of defence force/army garrison?

I'm glad so many people enjoy the thread! Funnily enough I just created it to coerce people into increased traffic so we could prove that we deserve our own sub forum...

Point proven.

And SG's new terrain continues to get a rough response over at news and rumours. Clearly CB just attracts more optimistic, positive people.

Maybe someone here can help me out and I think this is the right place to ask.

I have just started building up my board with a transit stop and a vending machine so far (they are painted though)

I have been reading through the Infinity books I bought and I read in one of them that on the Nomad Bakunin ship there is an entertainment town. Like Las Vegas kind of with vice, dreams, wealth, parties etc. It had a name that I cant recall at the moment and the book is no handy.

I am wanting to build my board like this with billboards, a night club, casino, plastic surgery / re-sleeving clinic, eateries and anything else that people would like to suggest here and you feel belongs in this setting.

So I would like to ask if anyone could direct me to a store that sells the type of things you would find in the bar?

Things like a jukebox, the bars themselves, little alcohol bottles and other bar nightclub stuff. I have been googling hard and yet to find some good stuff and any help would be appreciated.

I will post up pictures if you like as I complete the building over time

Vaudeville is the place you are talking about. It's a really rich environment and I think it's probably the place we know most about in the universe. Las Vegas is a good comparison although I hadn't made it before, I always think of the hijacked holo bands from Caprica. You should definitely read through all three Nomad sections in the Infinity books a few times and also the extra fluff sections before the rules. These areas are packed with information and give a really clear feel for the area and why it's there.

Hmm, that's a tough one, especially considering Infinity aesthetics. There might be some modern styled scale modelling pieces that could be restyled but I haven't seen them. Your best bet would actually be to scratchbuild, and cast if you need lots of something. I can't really direct you to a complete source of information on those things but I recently read RSJake and dsteingass's blogs which are full of tips. If you have time to read them it'd be a good start to making your own terrain. Also Pacific's blog has amazing terrain specific to Infinity which will help.
So yeah, personally I don't think there is a source of what you need but you can probably make a lot of it and combine it with stuff from Sarissa, Warmill, MAS, Spartan, etc.
 Necro wrote:

That's a great idea and if you do decide to scratchbuild then it'll be easier for us to help you. You can also start a blog so we can follow your progress easily and give advice if you need it.

Hmmm... I think I need to come up with a proper OP with a tonne of links. Another job added to the list!

Wow that's a really nice piece of terrain! Is that something you've got from a kit, or is it scratch built?

I may have to steal the idea!

I think it might be one of the piggies (Blind Pig/BP laser) pieces.

They've been doing magic with curves recently.

That is a kit from BPlaser. They have some amazing stuff and I plan to build a lot of Vaudeville city using their kits. The acrylic bends and the seats are made from wood and the wood bends as well.

Between scratch building, BPlaser and Antenocitis I should be able to come up with some good stuff. Going to keep checking on this thread though as I have seen so amazing things so far.

Here is the web address www.bplaser.com

That's a great piece mate. Just to be clear, I did believe you it's just that Dakka loves a picture!

BP look like they might be players, I'll be interested to see how they develop.

I'm going to be doing an inner city styled board eventually so I've been gathering ideas which might be useful to you, if you have any questions feel free to ask us and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks for that Casey and I might just take you up on that over the coming months

Got an medical operation thats going to put me out of action for the next month, but after that I am going to be working on this project big time.

I will add the finished pieces to this thread once completed.

That's a fantastic little stop! Lovely curves! I wouldn't have guessed MDF at all until I saw the sign supports! Good luck with the operation! hope it isn't anything too serious.

Still in reserve.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but Dust Tactics released these neat huts a little while ago (These are comparison shots by another member on the official Infinity forums):

They run at $20 for 6 huts (I buy my stuff from Miniature Market so they're only $13 from them. Or $16 at the War Store).

Apart from that these should have been (And probably were) posted already:

http://www.toposolitario.com/workshop/ikube.html - Modular print-and-fold shipping crates! 30-40 of these and a couple of gym mats and bam: You got yourself a full-on table. Literally costs only pennies to make, too: The PDFs are free and if you don't own a color printer, your library does!

Those Dust Tactics pieces are pretty nice, a bit small imho but a couple of boxes of them could make a pretty decent start to an old fashioned barracks. They are very modern in my mind though which means I can only really see them as Ariadna terrain.

Not a fan of paper terrain and I've seen far to many paper crates at this stage but you can't argue with the results. A paper crate yard is the fastest and cheapest way to go from no terrain to a full table.

Thanks for posting!

The Dusk Tactics pieces could benefit from an added strip of plasticard to raise the buildling up a couple of inches I think, but that wouldn't be hard to do.

Good idea D, that might bring the scale in. I'd also be tempted to make the doors wider and put some futuristic detail on the outside. Keypad lock on the door frame maybe.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but there is a new company out there doing some stuff that will look great for Infinity.

Thanks for posting! Do you work for Maki or are you just a fan?

I have mixed feelings on this. At first I thought it was more MDF terrain and I was pretty disappointed but then I saw the delicate structures and shapes which looked like plastic so I checked out the video.

I'm pretty damn happy to see some nice plastic terrain but I'm more than a little worried about scale. The 35mm 'miniature' in the pictures is rather misleading and even at that the stuff is huge by comparison. It seems that next to Infinity miniatures this terrain is going to look like it was built for giants. I really would like to see some real scale pictures at this stage.

I would consider this stuff for 40k but the jury is out at the moment.

I was pretty excited at first when i saw the makitainer KS posted elsewhere as i thought it would be a good way to get cheap plastic containers rather than trawling e-bay and waitting for AT43 containers to come up. But unless you splurge on some of the higher pledge levels you are still looking at over $10 per container (plus the extras like stairs etc). So if i was looking for containers or table coverage i think i would probably still go for some of the mdf/ hdf terrain that is out there. But having said that the modularity of the kits does look really interesting. You can build them into some interesting layouts and even just breaking a building down into a floor and a couple of walls lets you make the most of the amount of LOF blocking terrain you can get. The other downside is that you have to wait until christmas before you get the loot! I could build a table out of the foamcore i have lying around in that time! (Hmm, theres an idea for a pledge in there somewhere )

Casey did you think they were too big or too small? I thought the dimensions seemed about right for containers and if anything maybe a bit small for buildings. Although once you combine a couple together they are probably about right for building 'modules'.

I really like that style, especially the armored walkway, reminds me of Hyperion-built tech from Borderlands 2

I think the stuff looks too big, honestly. I think truescale 30mm is going to look tiny next to it. I'd like to be wrong though, better scale shots will be helpful.

To be fair, every time I see it it seems a little smaller but I'm not sure yet.

The dimensions are 140mm x 70 x 70 so they will be about twice the height of a normal infinity model and probably bigger than most TAGs (although some of the newer ones might be a bit taller).

I think the problem is I'm more interested in realism than gaming, these are actually pretty standard sizes.

@Casey's Law

I see your concerns and will try to explain below:

Our terrain was built to suit both 28 and 32mm scales. Doors will have different size depending on the type of building. For example the sci-fi doors are 50mm tall; Our doors are between 32mm and 38mm wide thus allowing the actual 25 or 30mm miniature to go through the door. We wanted you to be able to actually position a miniature under the door. Our terrain was built not for gaming, heights were studied to give the player the option to reach inside the building and position a miniature inside it.

A standard human is 6” tall 30mm to the top of the head, our building have an internal space of 60mm 12” that is a normal house ceiling and will allow you to place your 28mm miniatures inside it.
A door in a realistic scale would be 36 mm tall and about 12 mm wide, which would look pretty small. Although the miniatures are 30mm tall, they stand on a base which is 3mm thick, more if you use decorated bases. If you look at other scenery already in the market it is not uncommon to see a miniature taller than a door when standing next to it. Many make the doors the correct height but considerably larger to match the bases turning the door almost into a square. We wanted to do something different and more suitable to play, while keeping appealing proportions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide more details RJ. You have been very helpful and that has quelled any fears I had about scale. You've clearly put a lot of thought into this and I'm sure these kits will go far.

New information in mind, I think the fact that the terrain is so modular, plastic and reasonably priced has just made Infinity players terrain choice a little harder.

I would love to see some scale photographs with prototypes and miniatures from well known ranges next. Just so we can get a better feel of it on the table. Hopefully that isn't too far off.

But we may have a solution, I hope we can show you something by tomorrow.
