This looks like some kind of movie creation never mind a kit conversion , I tried to work out what you had used and where but the madness got to much.

All I can say is I am unbelievably impressed

Thank you, that means a lot .

I'm still working on the Tau Titan, but I've been officially distracted by my Christmas present.

I've already started working on it, and yes it will be heavily converted .

May I dare ask what you have in mind for this as to converting it ?

Well, I wanted to do something different, so I came up with the idea for an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Knight.
It would form part of an exploration team, lead by an Explorator Tech Priest, as they search distant worlds for lost technology.

As for the model itself, I plan on magnetizing three of the main weapon choice's for use on its right side. On it's left I want to build three of four large mechanical arms,
each one fitted with a different tool, much like a Tech Priests Servo Arms.

But before any of that, I've started work on reposing the legs, which can be tricky, as you first need to cut them apart.

Which is what I've done here, as well as add a new ankle ball joint made from a plastic bead. I still need to build a moving knee joint, and rebuild two of the ankle pistions,
and then repeat for the other leg.

@ lone dirty dog: I bet you wish you hadn't asked now

Sounds like an interesting vision for the Knight.

Looking forward to see how it progresses.

No still glad I asked I can't wait to see this start to come together, mind you looks like you got your work cut out for you or not in this case

How do you intend to make the servo arm scratch or conversion ?

The ball joint idea is an interesting one does that mean there will be some movement involved or will it be static ?

The Servo arms will be mostly scratch built, but I'll also be using odds and ends form various kits I have lying around.

When it's finished the knight will be standing on a detailed scenic base (which I need to build). The ball Joints will allow me to position the legs exactly where I want, before their glued into place.

First Stage of the Knights Servo Arms is done. Although this is just the basic frame work, as I've been focused mainly on getting the joints built and working.
Each joint has a 360 Degree rotation, and can pivot to a positive or negative 75 Degree angle (ish).

All the arms will have three pieces to them, each one ending in a tool, claw or weapon of some description. Very much like what you'd find on a Tech Priest or Tech Marine.

You see that's why we love you, you go out and buy a really expensive kit, and where most people would be scared to even think of alterations you just plunge in and flat out improve everything.

Looking great, like the movable parts, they staying like that? The only trouble I have is when things start to weigh too much and things go all saggy.

Hm. I may steal the ankle bead idea and use brass rod for mine to do a static repose. Would you say that would be a lot easier than what you are currently doing?

Also the arm idea is ossum possum.

Oh, dont be jealous of my creativity, it has a mind of it's own and takes way to much time off. Sometimes in can be weeks before I see it again .

Thank you very much, and yeah the scary thing about trying to improve a model, is that first I have to break it. Which doesn't always work out well.

As for the arms, yes they will be staying fully poseable. But your right, to much weight on the arms could be a problem, which is why I'm constantly testing the friction strength on the joints.
If there's not enough friction they'll collapse like you said. To much friction, and the amount of force needed to move the arm could break the joint. So it's a bit of a balancing act between the two.

Yeah, it's the only Knight in existence known to use windmill power to recharge its battery .

Yes, your idea is probably a lot easier than mine, as I do tend to over complicate many of my projects .

The basic structure of the servo arms is just about done. I now have to wait for an order of Mechanicus kit's to arrive, so I can start adding detail.

In the meantime I might start work on the Knights scenic base, as that needs to be finished before I can start work on posing the legs.

You must have gotten ahold of some unreleased Lego technic pieces, because those are too perfect to be scratch built.

lol, Yeah its amazing what you can do with a few bits of plastic card, and some left over sprue . But I promise you it looks more complicated than it actually is.

Made a start on the Knights base, going for a kind of industrial ruin factory look, with a large sealed bunker hatch blocked by debris.

I've also used some plastic card to block out the interior of the Knight, where a Servitor/Pilot will sit, along with some kind of engine block detail in the back.

Most of whats in the new skitarii box set I'll be using for conversions, especially the Dunecrawler, which I'll be using to detail the servo arms on my Mechanicus Knight.

The Tech Priest Dominus however is one of favorite GW models. I like it so much in fact that I've assembled it, and have actually started painting it.
So far all I've done is undercoat it, picked out all the metal areas, and given them a black wash.

No telling how far I'll get with this, but I'll give it my best shot .

Lol, Yeah it is unusually to see me paint anything, but I think this one is worth it.

I will get back to the Dominus at some point, but now it's time for a Knight update.

I've done a lot more work on the Knights base, and I think I might have gone over the top a little on detail.

The legs have also been partly assembled, as you'll see in the slightly blurry image below.
I,ll have some better shots, and go into more detail on what I've done with the legs in my next post.

You've got some major plastic-fu hk-san, I bow to your skills.

Over the top or not, but this one is definitely a beautifully and precisely crafted base. I like it a lot
I would actually add a bit more details to the black base itself - like sand, rubble or even some water effects. Too much is never enough
