Uhh... the plastic looks like the same plastic used in the BattleTech starter box. That's... not good.

Another assembly guide up, this time for Morgan Vade

http://studiomcvey.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/morgan-vade-assembly.html

I hope the UK/EU batch started shipping today, I can't wait to start putting at least on set together

Casting looks good on the character. We'll see how it comes out. Super excited but don't expect to see the stuff before friday depending on the order they are shipping in

Now that shipping is underway, here's a link to alternate Kara's stat card, the resin version included in Biohazard and above pledges.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/images/kickstarter-sw/ALT-Kara_Black_v3.pdf

That's a high res version suitable for printing, and the JPEG version is below.

For EU based backers, HM (no S) customs is still saying they are backlogged so we've gone ahead and shipped everything else today, and your Karas will follow once the government figures out that they're harmless. Just one of those things, please accept our apologies for the wait.

With any luck, everyone, everywhere will have their games this week, except maybe Australia / New Zealand which takes a little longer to transit.

So, EU stuff is shipped
Seems like we don't get a printed version of alt Kara with the Biohazard set? bit of a loose end... still, I have a decent printer so no worries here

It's pretty cool that they've put an alternate stat card together for us as when it was initially asked during the KS there were no plans to do one for her

Wonder if I'll get mine tomorrow if they shipped today?

I can guarantee mine will arrive on Wednesday when I'm out at the pub with the goths. Then I will have to fit the mail troll at the main post office for it.

There's one thing that ruins the Tech-Comm Kara Black fluff piece for me, which is that I absolutely hate the usual treatment of the "Murdering Twinmaker" concept, which is to say its non-treatment.

Ah, that makes sense then!
You'll get yours via parcelforce if you're in the UK, so that should be tomorrow! They said they were using "UPS or other courier" for the rest of the EU so that should mean all of us should have it in a few days - we'll actually get it faster than lots of US backers
(except of course for resin Kara, but oh well )
It's a hell of an added expense, shipping 1200 extra packages however small they might be - it might be largely offset by what it would have cost to rent the warehouse they were doing fulfillment in for several more days? still, not to the tune of 1200xGBP2ish average shipping, I'd guess

Could be wednesday guys if they went for 48 hr Parcelforce.

Decent of them to take the hit on shipping Kara separately rather than keep folks waiting.

Still have my concerns about the material, if its anything like the stuff PP used to use ill cry....

I hadn't been worried about the material through the whole KS campaign (and subsequent wait), but after seeing those guides... It looks like a version of the stuff that green plastic army-men were made of back in the day. Not liking that at all.

Yeah, I hate that stuff, too... I was hoping it would be similar to GW's or Wyrd's formulas. PP's is a real pain.

I'm the opposite. I prefer PP's plastic over Wyrd's. The Ten Thunders stuff I've gotten has much softer details than the PP plastics.

Okay, if I remember correctly the plastic was talked about early in the Kickstarter that it would be similar to PP's plastic. To bring it up now and complain, just seems well whiney to me, especially if you do not have the game in your hand currently.

Having never bought anything from PP, can someone please explain what the issue with the plastic is?

If its the same stuff its very difficult to work with, most call it restic as its a mix of resin and plastic. Knives dont cut it very easily and files tear up the material.

As for complaining if id known it was the material used would i have asked? I obviously didnt see it mentioned in the kickstarter. I still have my reservations about the material but whats done is done. Still cant wait to get my copy in the next couple of days....

I find it to be weirdly brittle feeling, unyielding to mold cleaning, slightly greasy, mixed unevenly, and round. I don't know how much of this was my personal experience (haven't gotten a ton of PP plastics) or PP's treatment of them, but I wasn't happy with them. wherever possible, I've gotten older metal sculpts instead.

Well that don't fill me with confidence, it looks like the kinda stuff kids toys are made of, though that might just be the photo. I am hoping its going to be alright, I just hope it doesn't lose all the sharp edges.

Hmm, I'm not familiar with the material but I will give it a try. This does sound like the old battletech plastic......which sucked!

you just have to use a nice sharp knife and slice the flash off rather than scrape , you can also smooth bits that have been roughened by a file or similar by scrubing that bit with a old tooth brush and some acatone .

I got mine today, and the plastic seems pretty bad, the mold lines are very hard to clear even with a knife.

In addition, some of the figures don't seem to fit together all that well.

A friend of mine got his copy of Sedition Wars today. (Not sure why his has gotten here and mine has not).

I wish I could ask for a refund. I went for this kickstarter based on the quality of Studio McVey and the dozens of sedition wars miniatures I already owned.

Seeing this? It was disappointing to say the least. I don't even think it will be easy to sell and get rid of.

I regret having 3 biohazards now.

Is it the plastic you guys have issues with (i.e. mold lines) or are the actual models not detailed enough. The photos up on the McVey Blog show some pretty nice and detailed figures. Does the box not match up?

The unique Kickstarter sculpts look fine from the previews. It's the contents of the box that is... :(

A few specific reactions upon further work...

I have never had any PP plastics, so I cannot compare these to them, but I would say that they seem just above toy quality. The bases are the greasy toy quality hard plastic, however.

The problem with parts not fitting is caused by both warping and some pieces that seems to just not fit right. I tried fitting together the Grendlr and the sides were badly warped, leaving a large gap on either the bottom or top. Its mouth piece even left gaps that were not due to warping, just the pieces not fitting well. The rifle arms on the female Vanguard troopers seem to not fit either body well, as they have 1 arm type for both when they are slightly different. The 2 different female special weapons arms can only fit on 1 type of body each, and the rifle arms don't seem to fit either pose well.

Overall, I am quite disappointed in the figures.

On the other components, the tiles are bigger than I expected, but also seem a bit thin (2mm), but this might just be because they are so large. The non-map tile cardboard components are only 1mm thick, which defiantly seems thin to me (this includes the train cars) My resin Kara's sword sheath was broken in shipping, figure seems to have a good amount of flash, but I don't have experience with this type of resin, so I don't know what to expect. Infection/shield chips seem fine, snap under the bases well.

This could end up causing a rather large backlash on Studio McVey and CMON.

We'll all have to wait and see, but so far not so good...
