I meant in game terms there will be no 40mm base they are still supplied with the resins both the Brimstone and Grendlr come with 40mm bases but the game versions come with 50mm bases as will the THI suits and Gnosis suits.

@ Andrew - I'm quite sure the bases will be available separately at some point. Haven't thought that far ahead to be honest
Not sure if the Infection and Deflection markers will be though - I'll have to think about that. The way the plastic tools are set-up might make that complex, but I'll certainly give it some thought.
When the THI Carapaces are eventually integrated into the game, they will go on 50mm bases - there won't be any 40mm bases in the game. 'Normal' sized models will go on 25mm bases (one square) and 'large' creatures will go on 50mm bases (4 squares).

Yet another poor decision then. Seeing as the THI suits look tiny on 50mm bases (they almost fit on 25mm bases). Sorry that I missed that. Not that it matters since the expansion doesn't seem to be focusing on Firebrand at all.

I'm under the impression that they decided to push back the firebrand vs. bounty hunters release until the second expansion

Dave, since you're generally in the know, any chance you know if 40mm bases will ever be on sale? I might want to mount the medium-large models on those... I like the look of that scale better...

No other than as part of a set of resin bases like these (these are the same base the Resin THI, Brimstone and Grendlr are on there is only 1 40mm base a bit like the 1 50mm base really need more 50mm designs)
http://studiomcvey.highwire.com/product/swb2001-firbrand-bases
£7.50 is expensive for 1 40mm base though

Given 40mm bases are being phased for out Sedition Wars I wouldn't expect to see anymore. It's hard enough getting Mike to sell the BfA bases separately!

Mike hasn't got back to me about the factions for AoS yet but from what I've seen I wouldn't expect Firebrand or Bounty Hunters this time around.

I bought lots of those bases, they were extremely nice at the time if more overpriced than anything on the market. I did it to give Studio McVey some support and base my SedWars stuff on their bases. Good to see they're planning to phase out the overly expensive product many of us wasted money on. Another +1

This thread is actually quite interesting and informative when you use the ignore button on all the people who insist on smashing down everyone else's opinions.

I love the new strain models. .not so sure on the vanguard with shields and swords remind me of the old void figures.

Considering Gnosis Armor Kara is also on a 50mm base in spite of being resin, it does seem they're phasing out the 40mm bases.

hrmm, not so sure if phasing out the 40mm bases is a good idea.

Seems like some units are better suited for the 40mm. That extra CM can make the difference between just the right size and too much empty space, let's fill it with corpses.

I guess if you got into SedWars after the fact not much of an issue. None of my metal or resin sedition wars minis are based and few are primed.

I understand the move, though. If Sed Wars is going to be continued to be played on a grid, a 40mm and a 50mm base do the exact same job. Some models may seem small for a 50mm base, but if they only chose to carry one size over the other, at least 50mm bases lets them continue to make larger figures like the Grendel, etc.

From a logistics perspective, its one mould less and one base size less to stock and from gameplay perspective its irrelevant.

Aesthetically its another story, but it does not show sufficiently empty to be that worrisome.

I doubt 40mm will be phased out considering that one of latest previews for AoS has one mini on a 40mm base...

you missed 1 or 2 I have them compiled here:
http://studiomcvey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/626-bfa-production-news-updates-only/

I've heard nothing more on shipping than late June early July that's a matter for CMoN as the distributor and they've never really been all that forth coming with shipping news until they have to.

I think the Vokker Dargu fig is going to be the same one that they already sell, probably just in resin or plastic though.

Vokker Dargu is a new sculpt based on Mikes own conversion of the original figure.

The original will probably turn up in the Firebrand Expansion (now confirmed to be a smaller Firebrand only set)

Bit of an update for you:

Hi Guys

Production for wave two items are on track exactly the same as we updated last time. The miniatures are in tooling and very soon, production. The cards are being printed. Unless I hear anything different from anyone on the production side, we aim to be shipping the packages out at the end of June. If I hear different I will certainly let everyone know.

The updated rulebook and cards are complete and are currently being prepared as downloadable versions. We are going to have two versions - one printable, and a smaller one that will work on screen. The same is true of the cards, but they are holding the process up a little as they have to be physically altered to work for home printing. I had hoped to have these ready for release last week - but the Kickstarter cards ran over and pushed everything else back. My plan now is to have them ready early next week. As soon as I know for sure, I will post that news here.

One thing that I have not updated on is the terrain set. That's done too, and on the same timeline as wave 2. The box went to print last week, and the pieces are looking great - very happy with how they came out. I'll upload some pictures of them as soon as I get the chance - I'll try and do that either later tonight or tomorrow, depending on how much I get done.

cheers for now,

mike

Cool. It's good to hear anything at all. Still bummed I will have to pay Office Max 25-30 bucks to print out my rulebook, but hopefully I can find a day when copies are 25 cents. Especially if I have to print out corrected cards, too.

I agree. Professionally printed cards and rulebook add a lot to my gaming satisfaction. Even an Office Max printing is not likely to make the cards as nice as the ones which came with the game.

Lots of images incoming the painted terrain set

They are going to be tooled in hard plastic, and will be almost entirely single piece casts - in fact there is only one piece that will require any assembly.

Some rules changes for v1.5 mean that some (not all) of the cards had to be re written as well.

I don't mind, material-wise. Because my cards will all be sleeved, it should be just fine to print each card face on separate pieces of cardstock, and sleeve them. Hopefully they are smart enough to do them like the card for the resin Kara black, so you can just fold the front and back together.

Printing such things myself is still the lesser quality option, unfortunately.
