A new update from Tre!

Update #29 WIPS!!! and Production News!!

Hey Guys,

Sorry this is taking so long to get updated. I have a lot of good news though! I should have a box of goodies in hand in the very near future to show off to you guys what progress we have made on the actual production. I am REALLY looking forward to this! Apparently Ed will be finalizing and testing some 7 production moulds tomorrow!

For now though I have some WIPs to show you.... I am NOT happy with Svetlanas right hand so that will be beign cut off and resculpted to get it right. And I am not sold on Guarthagust's head either. It looks a bit too big for the body, but this is the progress made thus far.

I decided to change Morgrimn's pose to make him a bit different from Conradt but I am not sure if this is better or not. What do you guys think?

Cheers!

Tre'

Looking at these, I'm incredibly glad I decided to invest in Tre's Kickstarter. I think I ended up with one of everything. Now I wish I had gotten more then one of lovely Svetlana...

Pretty sure I was in for one of everything except the Aenglish and Varp Krigare. So I'm really looking forward to getting these to turn into nice little display pieces.

After all these Kickstarters though I'm going to have to invest in some seriously large cabinets / shelving lol.

They're coming along nicely, and I'm glad for the updates. It's pretty obvious that these won't be up to the shipping stage in October, but that's the nice thing about seeing updates - you feel informed on progress and kept in the loop, so you're more understanding about the delays.

They are things of beauty

Tre also said 7 sulpts were in Trollforged's hands for test casts so we should see them soon

I'm already picking up a few bits of scenery to use with them

We are still on track for delivery within the month of October....well delivery to the PO in LATE OCtober. That is a very big priority for me. It will be tight and if it does slip it won't slip very far into November. ED just me the pics of the test casts and they are looking GREAT! I am reservedly expecting to have most of the production castings for what he has moulded right now by the end of the week next week. He also informs me that he will begin making the moulds for the rest of the stuff he has in hand ( which is quite a lot anyway ) next week or the following. By that time I should have the Horsemen done and that is going to be the real test of our capacity. Just seeing how long it will take to get them moulded and all producction castings spun. We can still make October. I will be shipping what orders I am able as the stuff comes in so there will be some people who will get theirs ahead of others.

Remember that the bulk of the rank and file stuff is already sculpted. Aside from what we're seeing WIPs on I think we have the wolves, Helriders, Olga, and the character Varp forms still to see updates on or started. Very doable to have at the caster in a month I'd imagine.

Also, I just got my first metal Red Box Games minis in the mail yesterday. There was a shipping snafu but Tre was generous enough to add three free minis to the re-ship!

Well as I'm in for pretty much everything, especially horses and wolves I guess I'm looking at being one of the last to ship

but that's no problem, I suspect the Reaper paint isn't going to arrive septeber anyway and I'll need to play with it a bit before tckling the Horde

What I'm getting at is that I'd rather get the models a couple of weeks late than have a rushed sculpt. I know Tre' takes great care in his work, but sometimes you have to cut corners and call something "close enough" to make a deadline or simply extend the deadline. I'm saying that if it comes to it, I'd prefer the latter as long as we're kept in the loop as we have so far.

Well, it's the 20th of September now, and the Pledge Manager stlll isn't up and Bryan said somewhere that it'd be open for about a month. That makes September for Reaper deliveries ...unlikely.

Not to worry Scipio. I will NOT err on the side of timing. I will ALWAYS err on the side of perfection.

Great news Tre - have to admit I was wondering given the sheer speed you seem to be churn these out. I couldn't imagine how you can do it and still keep such impressive detail. My forays into greenstuff and sculpy etc take weeks for a simple conversion, let alone full minis like these.

Well the only part of the effort i am a little intimidated by is the Horsemen. I know I can do it, btu they are big projects and are probably the most highly anticipated set of my entire range........... No pressure.

Another look at Tre's progress

Update # 31 Wolves WIP

Nearly there! I just need to get the first head finished and make sure that all of the bodies are fitted properly to fit that one foot print and then the other two heads are easy peasy. Then just a little clean up on the fur to get the softness shaped up and hHhHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWwwww!! Hamish bar the gates...tis devil's Wolves a-prowl tonight!

Nice doggies, why are you looking at me like that

Nooooooooo

So Tre I read over on Frothers that you're planning on launching another Kickstarter in a few weeks to retool your existing range, are you going to wait until all of the models from this KS are ready and posted before starting that campaign?

Just wondering as i don't want to see you potentially receive a negative reception like Avatars of War did when they launched their dwarf Indigogo campaign, despite already having a large backlog of 4 month old Warriors of Apoc pre-orders that only a very small percentage of paying customers had actually received at that point.

I am not sure there si any need to wait to ship everything. I will be shipping what i can starting at the beginning of next week. By that time I should have the Undead, the Keeper, the Aenglish, WHistelock and Robert. So whatever I DO have in hand I will be shipping out as it comes in. Unfrotunately the Horsemen will probably be the last set to be finished so any orders with horsemen will probably be held until late October.

Don't worry, I won't drop the ball! I will be sure that the sculptign is either completely finished on all models or is nearly so. I don't want to distract myself from quality sculpting tryign to manage a KS and I also don't want to distract myself from running the KS well for the sake of tryign to wrap up a few sculptures.

I already have Dave NEedham working on the art works for the campaign and I am also in talks with 2 very well known fantasy artists about creating works specifically for the KS as well. AND I am goign to be commissioning some high end PJ's from the hobby's most well known artists to sell int he campaign as well.

Also I will be adding in a few new sculpts and new sets to this next KIckstarter as well and I would LIKE to have a few o fthem sculpted before the campaign begins.

This next one will be BIG!

Are the muscles on the one on the left... correct?

I'd also really advise getting everything fully sculpted for the prior Kickstarter before doing another, for the reasons you describe yourself.

The one on the left is a 'Warp' form, so physically changed and enhanced

(did you ever read slaine in 2000AD, sort of like the Warp Spasm in that)

so no reality needed

I'm honestly really not keen on this idea. As a consumer, I think it's a much more classy move to finish one project to completion before asking for money again. (ie - I should have the first stuff in my hands - not "sculptign is either completely finished on all models or is nearly so".) I'm not suggesting that you're in any way dubious, it's just I feel asking for money a second time before the people who pledged the first time actually have their things doesn't endear positive feelings. I've supported you and your KS on a number of forums for some time, but I doubt I'll be willing to hand out more money or support for a second lot before receiving my products from the first batch.

Those update pics are awesome!! Do you do dwarfs? AoW's latest offering was less than inspiring, so I'm wondering about alternatives again for if I start them in the coming year... my only problem figuring out how to use your range is that the non-heroic scale means they won't necessarily work with heroic scale models next to them. So more non-heroic models would be required...

But again, awesome WIPs there

Edit: I see on your site you have quite a few dwarfs! Now if you had a unit of them like in this Kickstarter, rather than just individual models... that'd be tempting. Or, even better, a few different types of units of them perhaps based loosely on the categories of everyone's favorite counts-as fantasy game.

Man I totally understand the sentiment. I wish that I was not under pressure to do it but looking forward if I don't get something up very soon I may not be able to get anythign new funded until March or April or maybe even May of next year.... IF then even.

The funding projects that I know of on the horizon are;

Kingdom Death
Cmon' s next product ( probably Wrath of Kings )
Otherworld
Impact
Hell Dorado
Mierce Miniatures ( the horrbily renamed Banelegions )

Adn I am hearing rumblings of another Mantic campaign and a Dark Sword campaign and a WorldWorks campaign.

The money is disappearing at a break neck pace. If I wait there may not BE another opportunity. People are clearly not waiting to see what RBG is doing next they are funding whatever is striking their fancy first ( which is totally reasonable ). I can deliver the product, I WILL deliver the product. I made a good bit of money on the previous KS campaign, I am NOT complaining about that. BUT I did not make enough to carry out all of my plans for the coming new year. I want RBG to be as big as Privateer Press or Reaper, and I will never get there without being aggressive int he marketplace.

Rest assured though I am NOT going to let you or anyone else down. This is the livelihood of my entire family. It is all I have and I will NOT muck it up!

The NEXT RBG KS campaign will feature the retool of the existing Dvergr ( Dwarves ) and the issue of all new Dvergr as well. The most primary goal for me in the Dvergr line are the Hjalmar ( lightly armoured troops ) Stout Bows ( Archers ) and Huscarls ( Elites ) so yes you will see them in the next campaign. I LOVE sculpting Dwarves so I cannot wait to get back to that particular faction.

No worries - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the support you continue to receive...

That is the beauty of Kickstarter/Indiegogo though - we'll see!

I don't mind. As long as people have product in hands, even if it's not all of it, is good enough for me. We can all see Tre's been working at super speed and it's STILL super quality.

I've seen enough sculpts by Tre to know that whatever he is doing, he's got my support. My only main issue is with how the new material will behave. But Tre has promised that it is awesome. And if it turns out that it isn't, well, then his entire company is basically over. The word spreads too quickly over the internet.

Yup

go for it Tre

KS won't slow down

it might be worth putting a '45 of 800 orders dispatched' or whatever in the updates when you start shipping stuff to help with confidence

I only hope I can afford to support you again

As for the material. Every test cast I have held is just absolutely gorgeous. In fact I want to retool EVERYTHING in the line in this stuff as soon as possible!

I agree w/ Orlando about casual shipping updates. Like "just sent the 109 Framst pledges" or whatever. Even if there's no individual tracking it's nice to know some shipments are on the way to someone
