Heh, yea Alph, I scrolled through a few pages of that, giggled at the fact I was mentioned, then proceeded to throw up a little in my mouth at the discussion before deciding it wasn't worth commenting on. Obviously Reaper is is the right hand of THE LORD and could never have had a subcontractor make a mistake in a few production batches. In light of this new revelation I have mended my ways, and after a brief and glorious castration have set about to spread the good news to all!

Actually, I am watching the Avengers with my wife and just waiting to see what Reaper says. Also contemplating making/buying a set of armor for my cat to be posed in, as apparently I am becoming an interwebz phenomenon. Those theoretical royalty checks should start coming in any second!

When I find my camera I will take a few short videos of some of the worst bits, which are less rigid than the paint brushes I would use to paint them :(

Eh? I read through that same thread, and think you're being waaaay over dramatic about it - 99% of posts are just normal people trying to get to grips with the issue. Buglips is about the only over the top one, he's a bit of a fanataic, but he's also done a whole bunch of paint and durability tests for bones (which I've been following since the kickstarter began). I never saw anyone say it couldn't possibly be a manufacturing problem, or that it shouldn't be taken seriously.

At any rate, I'm betting the Kaladrax and Chuthlu heads are just made softer so they can be molded as single pieces - springiness to get them out of the molds - though it could well be some were made far softer again by mistake. I'll be very interested in seeing the video - bones that are too soft to paint will be an issue, and one I've heard of in relation to some of the early bones figures.

Eh, perhaps I am more sensitive about people making uninformed statements and questioning the motives/sanity of people who think they might have gotten a bad product by mistake. Too many posts came across as attacking the people saying they had a problem, or just straight saying they did not in fact have a problem, despite any evidence to the contrary. Might just be me though.

I'll definitely post the link to the video when I get it done today though. Assuming I can find that bloody camera...

When I started that thread on the reaper forum, I didn't expect quite how fanatical a few of the fans would be. They did raise a few good points, but it did seem to be alot redirecting the issue to make it a matter of folks not understanding the Bones material, and basically asking folks not to bother Reaper with it right now. I found it mildly offensive have it suggested that the onus was on the customer, and not the retailer, but it should be noted that this was from FANS, not from Reaper. Reaper hasn't responded to the issue. A bit odd, but I have every confidence they will address it after the products have shipped.

Just to be clear, since I was probably writing the auto-appended post while Maddermax was writing his reply:

PS: I do really like and respect Reaper as a company, and have had some lovely chats with some of their staff. One of whom owes me one silver medal from a few years back; I have yet to call it in because a post it note with 'I owe you one silver medal" in a wooden case is too awesome to lose. Nothing but love for the company and their people, and I am sure everything will be fine.

The fan boys on the forums however... wow. It makes me weep a little for humanity.

It wasn't anything Reaper was saying, or possibly even the majority of the posters. Just seemed like for every person saying "Hey, I think I have that problem too. Is this normal?" there was at least one guy immediately saying his models were actually fine and perfectly consistent across the board, and possibly questioning his heritage and whether his parents were married upon his birth. That's all.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok, as promised. Apologies in advance for the slight blurriness and length.

I learned 2 things today...
1) I've been pronouncing wehrkind incorrectly for what... 2 years?
2) He owns calipers... I haven't seen calipers used for something other than measuring fat D:

Edit: As someone that played with Bones last year, the "rubbery" factor seems to be what I experienced at GenCon with one of the gnoll models, but I'm not an expert and would defer to Wehr in such casting matters.

Hehe you and pretty much everyone else I have ever met have been surprised at the pronunciation Good thing I didn't go with Owguimut as my online persona so many years ago

I am definitely no casting expert when it comes to this Bones stuff, just was tossing out ideas as to what could be causing it to be like that. I was quite surprised to find it actually was a little more rigid today than it was before, and it reminded me of my own work pouring stuff too soon.

Thanks for posting that, Wehr*! Lots of good info. And, yeah, I read that Reaper thread as more than a bit hyper defensive and denialist from some of the posters, but at least there were others who were more rational.

I just got my UPS shipping notice today... 16.9 pounds, vampire +21, expected delivery July 11th!

*I've mentally mispronounced it forever, too.

Edit - correct line count after getting reaper mail with items listed.

Hmmm, good to know that 'spongy' did not mean what I feared it meant - I was picturing some foaming problems. This... I can live with.

Strange... I seem to have been pronouncing Wehrkind properly.... I think that I was assuming German consonants.

Got notice that my order is on its way as well!

Thanks for the video. Your cat, at 4:33, was clearly not impressed.

I, however, will continue to pronounce it "Where-Kind" in my head.

It's also interesting that some of them are getting more rigid over time. As RiTides asks, has the dragon gotten better?

Any news on ROW shipping? I feel like an update is overdue if they still aren't sending any...

They need USPS to send a truck for them the pack ROW into and nothing has shown up yet

If they finish the US stuff they will pack & store ROW (as there will then be space to do so) so it can be trucked out as soon as one show

from what's been posted by those close to reaper (but important to note not any reaper staff) it sounds as if USPS might reject a huge load of international packages even if Reaper hired a truck to 'dump' it on them, as has been pointed out they've had massive jobcuts recently due to sequestration (that failure to sign off on the budget)

so we wait and hope, and as Reaper have publicly stated they're not selling or distributing bones until all KS orders have gone out be certain to DO want to ship it all as fast as possible

I'll check when I get home, my Kaladrax has been assembled since the night I got my box, the same with Cthulhu. Whose head did seem firmer last night, though his tentacles still have give, which I'm okay with.

Wehrkind has a soothing, authoritative voice, like a Morgan Freeman for miniature wargaming. I look forward to his next video.

The tip of my bone dragon also seems to be firming up... Uh, I mean Kaladrax's head. Not too much, but his floppiness seems less pronounced.

Have to agree with the rubbery qualities of Kaladrax and how they are getting to be less, just a bit. It might be that fresh out of the box, he was far warmer being in the box and is now properly cooled? I mean, it feels almost exactly like a latex rubber, as far as texture and flexibility is concerned. I'll be emailing Reaper once fulfillment is over about this, and the single missing mini from one of my vampire boxes (I was missing Berkeley from the Zombie Hunter set, the girl with the chainsaw. I ended up getting two of the sheriffs )

High Chancellor Pudding cup was actually yelling at a fly that had the audacity to fly around and not land in his mouth. Unfortunately, said fly landed in my iced coffee and died of caffeine overdose. I discovered that on the last swig. Had to gargle with like a gallon of Listerine :( Still, the auditory version of a photobomb

And yea... people have been assuming it is Where-kind for a long time. Also "Weird-Kind", but I think that was just that one girl in my WoW guild. I used to get a little punchy waiting for raids to start
And I am not even going to pretend I can say 'Gymnogyps' or 'Alfandrate' correctly. Or even spell them so.

As to the dragon head, it might be a little stiffer now. I sort of poked it a bit at the beginning, thought "Hey, that's odd," made a note of it then moved on to counting the rest of the pile. I don't have anything directly comparable size wise other then other parts of the model. The legs are a bit too bendy I think too, and yet the body is rock solid with just a tiny bit of flex on the dorsal ridges/vertebra. So go figure.

Next time you swing by RiTides I will show you. It's a pretty cool model, even if roughly cat sized. The next video might involve new challengers appearing.

EFT fixed the pronunciation of my name, there is a character named Alfindrate, and the spelling for him is closer to the phonetic spelling of my name. Though it's more like Alf-in-dreight (like crate or weight or wait)

The origin of 'WSF':

 Wehrkind wrote:
Anyone have issues with REALLY spongy models? My Kaladrax's head and tail spike are super soft, like kitchen sink sponge soft. His legs are less than load bearing as well. Some other models are like that too, with others the same size and volume etc being much more rigid.

Tales from a Lazy Gamer: The Vampire kickstarter box is super convenient right now. We played a quick D&D game on Sunday and I just left it next to my DM stuff and grabbed minis out as we went. Had the players grab PCs at the start of the game. And I don't feel bad about throwing them in after they die.
