The problem with lists like yours is that even with allies most armies can't get enough skyfire units into a list to make it anywhere near a fair fight.

WTF is wrong with all ya'll, if i'm going to a tourny i'm going to go for the win, i wouldnt care how much cheese my list has in it as long as i know i have enough scoring units. Sportsmanship is something you get from the players attitude. You can totally rape a guy and both guys sit back and b laughing their asses of having fun. If someones gonna get butt hurt cuz they cant deal with anothers list they more than likely arent gonna b winning the tournament anyways and are just gonna use the "its a cheese list" as an excuse.

Flyer list are the same as leaf blower or space wolves missile list. They are just made to win

That all being said, playing a list that you know is a total cheese list against newbs or just fun games can make you into the store douche. Know when to play the list to win and when to have fun playing 40k

There is a difference between competition players and fluff players. Competition players get their ass's kicked and step back after the game and say "ok how can i adapt my army to not let this happen again". Fluff players will just use excuses. And PS to the guy who said some armies cant take anti flyer,..... what the frak dude everyone has options to take ADL and those rape flyers. read your "interceptor" special rules.

So 19 games since 6th dropped which was what? 7-8 weeks back? so 2-3 games a week solidly since release? Barely sees the table huh?

Back on topic:
As people say, the lack of skyfire is unbalancing things a little at the moment, but 2-3 flyers are relatively easy to deal with using massed S6 fire or with a bit of luck and Divination or Telekinesis. Failing that they will fire maybe half the game turns and can be ignored in favour of his troops choices. Some of the AV12 flyers really do require skyfire to balance and the AV11 Necron ones are just so spammable that it will simply overwhelm most friendly lists.

GW is raking it in from people who are going out and buying stacks of flyers because of the absence of skyfire in core lists, expect them not to shed a tear when over the coming year they make Skyfire cheap and plentiful and leave the WAAC cash cow scrambling for the next big thing...

Edit: In other words, don't run over three fliers outside of a tournament. In a tournament it's fine as long as you're nice about it

Combined with your "Highest win, lowest sportsmanship score" in your signature and your TFG avatar, it didn't look kindly in favour of sarcasm. Honestly just use some kind of sarcasm indicator, like </sarcasm> after a sarcastic post, or typing sarcastic stuff in italics. Also, there are a lot of dicks, and if someone says they are a dick with no sign of sarcasm, than who am I to assume they are kidding?

Very well executed. Very well executed indeed. Although The Captain is simply proving a point I have been stating for decades (Read: about 3 weeks) that no one has as much cheese potential as the IG.

Should 9 flyers in an IG list be a bit of a detriment at 2000 points . That's 1270 points, you only have 730 points on the table turn 1 in a 2000 point game.

Um. My Avatar says TFG in bold letters, and my sig is bragging about being a poor sportsman. You're telling me that doesn't come of at all as a joke? Sounds like that's more of a problem with your interpreting abilities. I really don't see why I need to point out my sarcasm so blatantly in an effort to quell widespread ignorance. Does Stephen Colbert say "That was sarcasm" after every politically outrageous bit? How many flyers is too many?
That depends, how much are you willing to pay?
Considering how each flyer is about 50 bucks and at least 100 points each, you probably are not going to field that many anyway.

I don't think there's a strait up, black & white answer.

If you're practicing a new tourny list for an upcoming competition at the local store, 4-6+ flyers is probably to be expected since they're so advantageous right now. If you're playing to a themed list like say Orky speed freeks or air cav, then sure, 3-4+ flyers is likely appropriate. If you just love airplanes or FMC's screaming through air blowing crap up, who's to say you're playing the game wrong?!

I think it really comes down to proper respect & ettiquet towards your opponent. Basically, we all know 3+ flyers are likely too powerful for most standard all-comers/non-competitive lists to handel. Thus, don't be a donkeycave and at least have the good grace to inform your opponent in friendly pick-up games!
Some people might want to take up the challenge and jump at the chance to play such a powerful list. Most people would likely at least like the chance to change-up their list a bit and put some decent AA options into their list so it's still a game!

Showing up at the local store, with a brutal 6-9 flyer list and then curbstomping everyone else's lists that never stood a chance isn't proving you're a genious, just that you're a butthole TFG who can only play the game if you have advantage +1,000,000 in your favour!

It depends on the points, but more than 3 fliers is stupid.

More than 2 doomscythes is stupid, stupid better than a railgun line...

I think that ultimately, 2-4 Flyers is a sensible max, just logically I mean.

I mean, with HS options I think more than 2 is a bit pointless ultimately due to the manouverability of it.

Throw in a couple of transports to drop stuff off, but then you're still looking at something that's ultimately going to only be on the field half the time with a valid target at best, and only 1-2 in 5 turns at worst... Yes they're harder to hit than regular tanks, but weight of fire still brings them down.

I've already clarified that I don't ACTUALLY do this on a regular basis, contrary to popular assumptions; but how does doing so prove anything? If someone fields a flyer list, they're both a butthole (which is a huge assumption to make based on someone's gaming habits) and they aren't good at the game otherwise? (Which also is a huge assumption to make. Anyone can field flyers; even the best player in the world can do it, but if they did, does this make them insta-bad?)

Nobody complained when I played Elysians in 5th Ed as many opponents saw it as an easy win for them.

I take a single dakkajet for the fun of it, and it looks cool on the table. But now one guy I play against always has some fortification, whether an aegis or a bastion (or a fortess of redemption once)

Just played a handful of games in a tournament and there was one guy with three vendettas. The turn they outflanked onto the field they wiped out a squadron of leman russ', medusa, and a chimera. Probably half of our forces. Even with our bastion trying to quad gun it out of the sky on arrival, only managed a single glance. 41 str 6 shots (we had been worried about flyers) still didn't do anything. He was able to stay out of range of half of it, and the other half he ended up evading.

I feel like necron flyers you can take a handful of more fairly then the AV 12 flyers the Imperium has. At least with AV 11 there is a chance that torrenting fire bring it down. Unfortunately the rest of the army then eats you alive since you couldn't shoot it.

I'm sure as codex and Errata releases come out to give everyone an option it will become less of a deal.
