Are any of the other Dwarf kits out yet? I thought there were bronze beards or iron beards or something like that. Are they any good?

The plastic berserkers are some of my favorite models ever. I'm sorry to hear they weren't successful. As much as I hate restic, Felix's decision seems more reasonable with that information.

That is a shame. I wasn't interested in the kit on its own, but I was hoping for a pirate-themed upgrade sprue at one point.

It was put up as it's own thread, but I think it's worth having in here

And can't wait to hear more about this later in the month, which resulted from Adder Ant's efforts last page:

Avatars of War IndieGoGo Update wrote:After many petitions received, despite the intial plan was it to be the "culminating" miniature of the Dwarf army, Felix will sculpt the Army Standard Bearer during October instead of doing it as the last model of the army.
Hope you find it to be good news!

Crossbowmen are up... October is over so I hope to hear something about the army standard sculpt soon, given the quote at the bottom of my post above?

Crossbowmen are also a bit pricey, 12 for 39 euros, compared to previous offerings. Listed as Warcast, not plastic.

They look pretty bad ass, but as was stated the price is less than desirable. I'm sure there will still be buyers as the scuplts look top notch.

I could have sworn he said no more warcast.....And now we get another unit in Warcast....oh well. Looking forward to my standard bearer and likely building a dwarf army off the plastic/restic models already released.

Makes sense, imo- it will probably be a less popular unit, looks to have less options... just make it limited and try to get the other units actually available that they've been having so much trouble producing.

Some of the later sculpts should be very popular, imo, and I hope make their way to plastic- the bear disguised dwarfs, for one and the bear riders.

AoW have a new Corrupter set available for pre-order which includes another exclusive model.

This will probably be a pretty unpopular opinion, but after the Dwarf standard bearer model has been sculpted and sent out i really think that Avatar of War should attempt to launch an actual proper Kickstarter. Nothing big or fancy, just a small KS campaign to help raise the funds to produce the remaining dwarf units/characters and to pay for the old Warcast units to be transferred into the new easier to cast plastic. Because at this point its been almost 16 months since the IndieGoGo campaign first launched and i just can't see Avatar of War having a single cent of that money left.

The alternative to running a Kickstarter is that we're stuck in the current 3-4 month release cycle for the Dwarfs, along with Felix and Sergio having to waste their precious sculpting time producing an 'Exclusive' model for each new box set release as an incentive to pre-order directly from AoW. And at this point the longer it takes AoW to complete the IGG Dwarf campaign the more its going to hold them back as a company. Which really sucks as AoW has shown off some amazing concept art recently for a few different Warthrone armies, but they won't be able to truly devote their best sculptor to any of those models/units until the dwarf campaign is 100% finished.

I think any attempt to run a KS (or any other crowd funding campaign) would not go down well with the backers waiting for their stuff

I'm pretty sure if they did try it they'd end up with a whole bunch of demands for refunds

Well, looks like I've got another lizard to add to the pile.

I would be pleased as punch to get a lizard army done up in the style AoW have done these lizards in, but I worry that I'd ever see it finished in my lifetime.

Shame really.

Hope they gets those dwarves wrapped up so we can move on to taller and more interesting things!

I agree with this. Those prices are no better than GW prices, and GW's prices are what have driven me to look at third party miniature manufacturers.

While I really like the miniatures, I am glad AoW refunded me when I supported their IGG campaign. No, I don't see launching another IGG campaign will fare very well.

I just want to reiterate that i did in fact back the AoW Indiegogo campaign, and when i suggested they should try launching a new KS/IGG i wasn't thinking about a massive 1m+ campaign that over promises on all the bells and whistles. I really just wanted to see an almost complete rehash of the original dwarf campaign, with a few of the Warcast units that still need to be transferred to plastic thrown in as stretch goals. I'm certain that the online community in general would try their very best at crucifying AoW if they launched another campaign, but as an IGG backer if my choices are stuck between waiting another 16-24 months for all the dwarf options to be finished, or having AoW launch another campaign to help secure some additional funding. Then i would gladly choose the option that helps reduce the time it takes for my Dwarfs to arrive.

(It wouldn't hurt either if AoW maybe threw in an extra 10-20 or so free plastic models to help calm down the IGG backers.)

In other actual news it looks like the plastic 'Corruptors of Apoc with great weapons' kit has been delayed until at least January, I pre-ordered a box of them and was sent this e-mail back on the 10th of Dec. by AoW.
Hello,

I would like to inform you about the state of your Corrupters of the Apocalypse,

Another company placed an impressive order for 40 molds to the same mold provider that does the tooling of our injection molds (one of two options: a kickstarter’s new millionaire or a new miniatures company hiding in the shadows planning to make its appearance in the market releasing 40 new plastic regiments in one go! J).

Thing is, even though we send our originals for tooling with time more than enough for meeting the December release date, that big order has pushed back our Corrupters tooling. We are doing our best for the delay to be as small as possible, but that big order is much bigger business for our provider than we are (at least in the short run), so some delay is now certain.

We have been told the Corrupters of the Apocalypse with great weapons will be ready for production on January (instead of December as was expected). Once productions starts, all preordered boxes will be shipped in a few days (that’s the great thing about plastic injection, once you have the mold ready, production is super reliable and super fast).

We are really sorry about the delay, and we really hope you’ll find it worth to wait a bit more than expected for this excellent limited preorder bundle (which contains the exclusive miniature and 8 extra corrupters).

Yes - from what I understand, Palladium just sent the order for tooling to the same company for Robotech - over 40 new tools, bumped AoW's single tool back by a month.

People pre-order from AOW? Still? Or heck, even order directly from them?

Who in their right mind pre-orders from them. This has all the hallmarks of a company going through a cash death spiral where current obligations are draining cash quicker than new products can be made and sold to bring cash in because older obligations are draining time and capital to produce new products to be sold for cash ... repeat ad infinitum.

AOW produce shockingly good miniatures but they don't have the appearence of being well run or financed despite crowd sourcing success.

I would love to purchase their minis, but unless I see them in a store it just aint happen coz I actually want to receive relatively close to when I order them.

I really WANT that lizardman. Desperately. And that is that sad thing about AOW. Amazing looking product but no way I am giving them money directly. There are probably many people like me.

Has that standard bearer been finished - wasn't Nov the finish date?

This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 2013/12/13 17:14:41

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

I'd tend to agree with you but they've just released several new kits to retail - the Dwarf pathfinder plastic kit, Dwarf thunderers plastic kit, and about a dozen metal figures, all in the past few months.
