Two sets of goodies for the Roguie Trooper Kickstarter today!

First up, as you will already know if you have been keeping an eye on our Comments page, we have made some tweaks to our stretch goals and rewards, following suggestions made by, well, all of you. To summarise;

1. Venus Bluegenes is now a free model to Kapitan level pledges as well!
2. If we unlock the Lazooka teams, Kapitans will receive one team free, Majors wil receive two teams free.
3. Also, if the Lazookas are unlocked, we will be sending a Sister Sledge model to every backer of Sergeant level or higher!
4. Snipers are still free to Kapitans and Majors.
5. We have added the Hammerfire Pillboxes as a stretch goal and, if achieved, a Pillbox will be sent free to every backer of Leutnant level and higher.

Second, we have just updated the Rogue Trooper rulebook and have added a whole new chapter! During the Judge Dredd Kickstarter, we became aware that more than a few of you were pretty much intending to refight the Apocalypse War - it was pretty obvious by the number of Sov Judges, Citi-Def and Mega-City One's finest you were asking for!

We have been toying with the idea of making this kind of epic fight 'official,' and finally broke down today and added the ideas we have been working on - you can now fight the Apocalypse War using the Rogue Trooper miniatures game, as we have added Mega-City One and East Meg force lists! For a truly bizarre game, you might even consider fighting Mega-City One Judges vs. Norts, or East Meg Judges vs. Southers!

We have also added new rules on city fighting, intended to reflect how truly vicious this kind of warfare is. Perfect for the Apocalypse War but, of course, there is plenty of fighting in built up areas of Nu-Earth as well, so feel free to use those rules for Nort vs. Souther confrontations too!

Now, we predict that the first response to the MC-1 force lists will be 'where are the rules for Med-Judges/Anderson/Sky Surfing Chimps?' (closely followed by 'where are the Sov Rad Sweepers?...').

As with the rest of the rules revolving aroudn this Kickstarter, we want to give you chaps enough to play with (you already have the rules to match Holocaust Judges against Sentenoids, which can only ever be an interesting match up!), and then continue to add and tweak following your comments and suggestions. So, if there is much interest shown in this side of the game, more will be added.

As to the second response, well, perhaps we will look at another Kickstarter in the future for Rad Sweepers, as that is a BIG model!

If anyone is looking to get into the Apocalypse War in any half-serious way, we have also added a small selection of Judge Dredd sets to this Kickstarter which you would be welcome to add and combine with the Rogue Trooper sets on offer.

It has occured to us that, maybe next year, we should perhaps look at doing some sort of combined '2000AD miniatures game' that will feature both skirmish and battle level gaming, and cover both Rogue Trooper and Judge Dredd (and, who knows, maybe some other comic strips as well!). However, that is just an idea scribbled on the back of an envelope at the moment, and we need to get the individual components of such a project sorted first.

So, you have our open invitation to come on in and get involved with some tasty 2000AD gaming, and let us know what changes and/or additions you would like to see, to the skirmish rules and those covering battles, to Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper.

One way or another, the future looks bright for 2000AD miniatures gaming!

I have a firm belief that if you partnered with Wargames Factory to do CAD-designed multipart plastic miniatures of Citi-def, East-Meg Sovs, and MC-1 Judges (say $10,000 per 5-man sprue to manufacture) you would have them funded within the first day of a Kickstarter. Stretch goals could include CAD-designed plastic vehicles, plastic MC-1 civilians/gangers, and perhaps plastic MC-1 zombie set (for Judgement Day/etc).

I look forward to playing the Apocalypse War rules, as SST is my favorite system of all time and I love Judge Dredd. I hope you're prepared for a whole lot of feedback as I aim to test this system and push it to it's limits

Oh heck, I'd be in for a truck load of those plastics! I really like the Citi-def models, though we're still waiting for the Sov sets to arrive to compare (or kill) them.

Also... the RT kickstarter just breached £18k, so we're past the Lazooker teams and moving towards the Nort snipers.

That is an interesting idea, though I am not sure it would be as easy to fund as you suggest Certainly something worthy of consideration in the future though.

Easy to fund as in, getting the backers, or easy to fund as in the price points are too low? (how about 15mm plastics?! that would pretty much be amazing; and resin Radsweepers and such would be far more affordable)

And yeah, I'd be playing this weekend if it wasn't for my lady's birthday celebrations. But in the next 10 days you'll have a ton of feedback rolling your way.. Apocalypse War needs to be perfect!

Four new ships have just been released for the Star Fleet range, and Klingon players are going to have a good day with the coming of the E5 Battle Corvette, F5W War Destroyer, and F6 Frignaut, a clutch of smaller ships that will terrorise much larger enemies!

To combat this, the Federation have launched the Star Tiger Light Raiding Dreadnought, a Fast ship that packs a great deal of firepower!

You can find all of these ships at;

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniatures/ctastarfleet.html?dir=desc&order=position&p=1

Rules for the E5 and F5W can already be found in the (free-to-download!) Fleet Update #1, which can be found at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniatures/ctastarfleet/rulebooks/a-call-to-arms-star-fleet.html

The F6 and Light Raiding Dreadnought will be covered in the soon to be released (and still free!) Fleet Update #2.

The Sov Invasion force, complete with Satellats and Sentenoids is now available for mail order!

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniatures/judge-dredd/perps-and-mercenaries.html?dir=desc&order=position

After years of meticulous planning, Supreme Judge Bulgarin of East Meg One launched the Apocalypse War against Mega-City One. Through the use of nukes, the Apocalypse Shield and a full scale invasion under Warmarshal Kazan, Mega-City One was subjugated quickly, with half of its 800 million citizens killed. Through the heroic actions of a handful of judges, Mega-City One was able to finally win the war, destroying East Meg One in the process. However, there are many in East Meg Two who plan revenge against the west…

A Sov Judge Invasion Force is designed to eradicate all resistance in Mega-City One. With well-equipped and well-trained judges, not to mention the dreaded Sentenoids, it is very much an ‘elite’ force.

This set contains a complete starter set for the Judge Dredd miniatures game and includes, three Sov Judges, a Senior Sov Judge, a Sov Officer, a Satellat and a Sentenoid.

We have just uploaded a new revision of the Rogue Trooper rulebook. As always, you can grab it from here;

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/rtrooper.pdf

Many thanks to all of you who mailed in or posted suggestions and changes - we have incorporated a lot of those into the rulebook, making the game run smoother and giving you more options.

In addition, we have add two whole new chapters.

Battlefields of Nu-Earth introduces several new terrain types unique to the war zones Rogue fought across, bringing new hazards and tactical opportunities to contend with.

Second, we have added Skirmishes on Nu-Earth, providing all the rules you need to combine Rogue Trooper forces with the Judge Dredd miniatures game, allowing you to build campaign forces and new heroes! We know there are a great manyof you who have been waiting for this chapter!

This means you can now combine the two games, across both Mega-City One and Nu-Earth, to play games where a small, elite force is sent on dangerous missions that may tilt the balance of the whole war, before launching a major assault on enemy lines that could win it!

There is still a lot for us to do on this rulebook, but we believe it is now a nice, tight system which wil have some great models for it, offering a gateway into more 2000AD gaming goodness for years to come!

I'm still concerned about the model count of a full sized game though. But maybe the rules really shine at 30-40 models a side where the wait between turns and reactions wouldn't be as long.

I played Starship Troopers several times per week for several years, up to games with 400 models on a side. The longest game took maybe 4 hours.

Oof, Starship Troopers, don't remind me. That game was an exercise in heartbreak and why I don't fully trust Mongoose that much. Armageddon 2089 was average as well. Someone brought it up in the first few pages of this thread; not everything has to be the biggest most luxurious product ever, it's better to start small and create a few quality products, then add to a range than go all-out and screw it up.

I passed on the Judge Dredd kickstarter, and it's likely I'll pass on Rogue Trooper as well. i have no connection to the character and the figs are average at best. The tanks look nice though, might grab one of them.

I agree, I had a very long rant about it - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/60/474984.page#4757434. (SST was my biggest gaming heartbreak ever; it had as damn near perfect rules as I've ever played)

But Matt was very nice to talk to (that whole thread that I linked is a good read about some stuff), so I went in for the Dredd KS and was not disappointed. I love the Citi-Def and Sov Judges, which is what I wanted; and the Rogue Trooper rulebook has the Apocalypse War rules in it (based on SST ruleset), so I am a very happy camper. I can fulfill a 20-year wargaming dream to fight battles during the Apocalypse War

Geez, the Rogue Trooper Kickstarter has really taken a pounding over the past week. Its lost a total of almost £3,000 from pledgers either backing out or lowering their pledge, and its currently just under £16k with only 5 hours left in the campaign.

Its a shame really as the campaign had such a good start, but the lack of completed new sculpts definitely helped damage the campaign. (Showing off that Rogue 'Nipple' Trooper sculpt probably didn't help too much either...)

I think also a lot is to do with other KS projects starting up [Season 2 Zombicide, Dungeon Roll, and Sails of Glory]

I was one who left the Rogue KS mainly due to the cost of a set [box] was to much for me to get behind. $25GBP for 8 or so minis [which is around $45NZD per set/box]

I really wanted to do this KS but the change of currency and lack of actual greens/sculpts also changed my mind and $3,000GBP worth of other backers minds.

Also there is the fact that a lot of people are skint in the first few months of the year after their wallet has taken a pounding at the end of the last...

I had to pull out in the last week as it turns out I just don't have the funds available right now, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to this.

Will we be receiving the new stuff as it comes out? I came in on the 500 buck level and got a bunch of stuff that was the same.

I second Judgedoug's opinion,and agree. I am a pretty vocal critic of Mongoose, but the Judge Dredd KS, and the follow on of the work that they put into the project has softened my stance just a little.

I can also say for a fact that the Judge Dredd stuff is a step in the right direction. I'm not a fan of some of the other stuff or some of thier directions on others, but they seem to have learned a few lessions from some of thier past SNAFU's.

As to the KS craze, I'm just going to throw it out there that the ride is not "New lickies and chewies", anymore. With as many as thier are out there now, you are at the point that it is a preorder platform, and if you are interested, your going to get something for your trouble and pledges irregardless of how people want to think it "Should or should not" be run as.

It was funded enough to establish the core of a decent range, and I personally think it did rather well for a relatively unknown property. Once sculpted and into distribution, if they continue to sell enough to justify expending the range, I am sure Mongoose will expand the range, or even run another KS for "wave 2".

Nod. I considered this one, but it was significantly more expensive than the Dredd one per box when I did the maths. Unless I wanted to go in for 300UKP ($450). I didn't. Despite a pretty good fulfilment rate, it probably suffered a little from "too much too soon" in that the Dredd stuff isn't fully sent out yet as well. Zombicide etc I'm sure didn't help in the final days.

Good news for fans of Judge Dredd today - the Manta Prowl Tank (one of the largest vehicles in Mega-City One, and certainly the largest we have ever done) is now shipping to our Kickstarter backers and is available for pre-orders.

The Manta Prowl Tank is a mobile floating fortress of anti-crime measures, striking fear into the heart of the most desperate perp and fully capable of dealing with entire riots by itself.

Pre-orders will start shipping at the end of April.

We also have the Demonic Cabal available right now.

The Demonic Cabal is a suitable force for anyone who likes their games a little less predictable. Sometimes you will find everything works out for you and summonings go off without a hitch. During other fights, you may find your cabalists are their own worst enemy!

Meerkat Slammers on KICKSTARTER!

A madcap and chaotic card game that is fun for the whole family!

Meerkat Slammers is a fast paced, riotous, free-for-all, for 2 - 4 players (but only the quickest and most observant player will win). This is a game we have been working on for some time now, and all art, development, and playtesting is done - the game is ready to go!

What we don’t know is whether anybody wants a card game featuring some furious Meerkats! Therefore, we have created a little Kickstarter project to test the waters. We have plenty of updates planned, showcasing each of the Meerkats involved in their tribal struggle. If we reach our (very modest) goal, then the game will be sent to print the same the Kickstarter project ends, and all backers will have their Meerkat Slammers game in their hands a few short weeks after.

On Kickstarter now you can get a first look at the rules and game play, as well as some marvelous Meerkat goodies exclusive to this Kickstarter project!

You can find everything at;

How are we looking for more factions?

Any more being developed after the KS gangs?

When are we going to see these in stores?

How are we looking at getting the zombies and other stuff after the first batch? I haven't seen anything except that first push out.

There is a whole bunch going out over the next 2-3 weeks, including the Manta and the Judges of the World set (and I hear Travis and DeMarco have just been put into production moulds!).

These models will make it into stores, about 3-4 months after Kickstarter people have them in hand.

And yes, there will be new factions after this little lot and new models - we already have a new Klegg that we will be showcasing soon!

You can find everything at;

I gotta be honest, this looks awful, worse than Uno. It's a card-slapping game with some token special event cards tossed in.

If I had young kids, the last thing I would want them to do is play a free-for all card-slapping game, tossing cards down all willy nilly

As a seven-figure company, Mongoose really can't raise the fat £2,000 it would take to put this into production? They have to do a kickstarter, really?

Notice Privateer Press had no problem putting out the Bodgers card games and Level 7 Escape

Be honest, this is just a pre-order system.
