In one of my first games ever, back in 3rd edition, I had a Tau FW team assaulted by a Dark Angels Master (? The captain type character), who they had just rapid fired into and dropped to one wound. He wiped almost everything in his kill zone except one FW who was exactly 2 inches away. One rock throw later and he was short an HQ.

(Incidentally, this game I had 3 Broadsides pumping rail gun after rail gun into his Land Raider. It was immobilized, and lascannons were gone, and I just kept shaking and stunning it after that. This started my amazing streak where I've never killed a Land Raider with a rail gun).

More recently, my first game of 6th edition saw my Vulkan and his squad of TH/SS terminators assault into a plague marine squad with attached lord (prior chaos codex). Realizing his lord was going to do bad things with the squad, and that he didn't have an aspiring champion to sacrifice to it, I challenge with my terminator sergeant. Suffice to say, the end of the challenge saw his lord go down....to his own daemon weapon.

Tyranid vs Dark Angels

Deathleaper come out of reserves to take control of an unmanned quad gun and proceeds to score a penatrating hit on the rear armor of a Venerable Dreadnought, blowing it up.

Really it was just the image of Deathleaper, the close combat shredder, manning a quad gun ala Han Solo that I just found too funny.

Death to Mephiston!

Mephiston has one wound remaining after getting pummeled by amassed special weapons. He boards an empty Land Raider and heads to the fray at mid-board. My trusty MM/HF speeder perches itself on top of a single story building, fires its MM over the ensuing melee and into the Land Raider. The Land Raider is penetrated by the blast, explodes (!), and Mephiston fails his 2+ armor save!

Not quite the carnage as most peoples stories but still amazing...

I had 1 tact marine with a heavy bolter holding an objective and my opponent had 2 tact holding an objective. I had to move to get into range and snap fired. 2 hits, 2 wounds, 2 failed saves. He lost the game by one objective as he had no other scoring units their holding it!

Won 2 objectives to 1.

Space Marines vs. Dark Eldar

My friend's razorwing jetfighter fired his splinter cannon at my bikers with artificer armour / storm shield captain in the front. He hit with 5 shots, wounded with all 5 of them and I rolled 6 ones in a row failing all my look out sir and 2+ save rolls.
Though I recovered nicely and the game ended with a tie I don't trust 2+ saves anymore.

A guardsman in my CCS finished off an Avatar in close combat once. Marneus Calgar eat your heart out.

Stupid guardsman throws a krak grenade at my full hp Nightwing. 6 to hit, 5 to pen, 6 to explode, 1 on my 2+ jink save....

DAMMIT! You beat me to it! I was watching that one and was amazed to see that Deathleaper take out the Dread! The visual of the scenario was awesome!

My most ridiculous kill was a slug out with an avatar of khaine vs. 7 plaguebearers. Nothing too exciting except for the fact that 5 plaguebearers remained after 3 rounds of duking it out with the beast.

Watched a tournament game a few weeks ago were a Tesla arc came off a unit of flamers and killed Fateweaver.

one of my first 6th ed. games

I played a SM - guard infantry spam list just for fun, against CSM(5th codex)

his demon prince flies forward and is having lots of fun with the squishy guards in my army.
next turn ALL my units fire at the demon prince, missile launchers, snipers, plasma cannons, plasma guns and pistols and lots and lots of bolters doing ZERO damage. nothing.

then a lone vox-caster of my platoon command squad picks up his lasgun, fires some pot shots - and gone was the demon threat.
the guardsman is now promoted to meatshield - a great honor for him

also i've seen a tau gundrone kill a demon prince in CC, quite impressive..

trying to shoot at Kharn with plasma stuff blowing up all but Kharn.. overheat madness

playing a friendly game against a friend (CSM) for the first time with the boon table. he kills my sarge and i grant him his boon, but at equal initive i managed to kill him too

oh and the funniest moment must've been when I deepstriked my Deathleaper to shoot a [Eldar tank, dont know what one] in the rear, fail horribly, next turn the tank turn 180 degrees and instafries my Deathleaper. my turn, his rear armor is open for my entire army - small mistake for the eldar player - and some hive guard clear up the tank

gotta love those moments

5e doubles game, we had Nids+Ig VS Orks and Orks. Turn 4 of the game 3 KillKans take out a Chimera and most of the IG inside when it goes boom leaving 3 luck guards behind. On our turn figuring they are dead any way IG charge Kans. 2 phases later, 2 IG walk away from 3 exploded Kans. The one dead IG was to an explosion.

I think this has to go to one of my mates. he has three Guardsmen, one MeltaVet, one PlasmaVet and one standard Flashlight Infantryman.

The PlasmaVet has blew my Night Scythe out of the sky. two Snap Shots, one six one one. He saves the wound, and the Plasma Bolt penetrates, and I fail my Jink. Explodes.

The MeltaVet has, singularly, killed my DLord twice and my Foot Overlord three times, with overwatch fire.

And the Flashlight guy is best.

Killed Abaddon in CC.

In a sixth edition game, me and a mate were playing against, the chaos marines had 2 daemon princes, one of which was giving my mate a hard time, the other of which was winging towards my gunline. I fired at it, but it wasn't my only target, as my mate has an almost all deepstrike/outflank list, and I was alone for the first few turns.

I manage to reduce him to 2 wounds with some lucky shooting from a HWT, but he was just in range to assault. He tried assaulting, rolled short, and ended up an inch or two in front of a squad of guardsmen. So I pour every shot I can into the prince at this point, because I didn't feel like having my army shredded in CC. Nothing happens. I miss most of my shots, and those that hit, were easily ignored by the prince.

I was just about ready to resign the HWT and several others to painful death when my mate leaned over and reminded me I still had a sergeant who hadn't shot.
So I rolled to hit.

The daemon prince then failed his check to see if he falls down to the ground, and received an additional wound, which he failed to save. A single guard sergeant finished off the half-ton slab of anger that was about to murder them all.

I was playing a game with a kid who was really bad and had really bad sportsmanship. He kept saying all game how he was going to destroy all my tanks with a Hive Tyrant. I ran it over.

Taking out a Tau Tiger Shark with a single round of shooting from a single Deathwing Terminator's assault cannon in 5th Ed. Five sixes in a row.

Not a kill, but rather a tale of survival.

DE vs Chaos Marines.

The relevant part of the lists:

DE had 2 Raiders loaded with 10 Kabalite Warriors each - all stripped down splinter rifles; and a Venom with 4 Blaster TrueBorn with the dual splinter cannons.

That was up against 5 Chaos marines. The sergeant had rolled on the boon table and got a 2+ invulnerable save. They were strung out in a line with the sergeant up front.

Raiders moved up slowly and shot both DL: saved. They were within 12", so the Warriors opened up with twin linked poison shots. That would be 40: all saved. Venom, 12 shots: saved. Blaster Born: 4 shots: saved.

All said, that one sergeant, rolling one little die at a time dodged 52 splinter shots, 2 DL and 4 blasters. Amazingly about 80% of my shots actually made it to the point that he needed to make saves.

That game didn't go well for the DE; they were certainly schooled in the power of position.

My scouts are sitting in a forest full of razorwings. Suddenly, they see Abaddon coming at them! So, they fire their snipers in an attempt to save themselve. They miss. Abaddon enters the difficult terrain.....and is promptly killed by the razorwing nest..........snipers are relieved they weren't destroyed.

Having another practice session with my brother, we both use IG.

His army had a Heavy weapons team, a vet squad (or two?) and a Leman Russ tank with Battle cannon and Pask.

I had 2 vet squads, a CCS, and a Chimera.

For most of the game, my brother just parked his tank way in the back and just used it as artillery.

The last few turns ended up with my CCS having crossed all the way across the battle field, facing the tank, heavy weapon, and a Vet squad.

My CCS, instead of assaulting the tank, used it as cover by sneaking around it and tossing 5 frag grenades. Three of them hit, and he fails his Leadership sending his full strength (well not anymore) Vet squad and Heavy Weapon squad running off the map.

His tank then proceeds to blow 3 of the 5 models, leaving the commander, and a vet Falling back. They successfully regroup the next turn, then charge the tank. With my Commanders powerfist, he scores 1 wound, reducing the tank to 2 life. The next turn, he drives his tank back and unloads of my squad, and kills my vet, and sends my commander to 1 wound left. I roll Snake Eyes on the Ld test, and I scream out something funny involving Never surrendering and have him charge. He scores 2 wounds...and stands victorious, the only man left on the table.

For me1; Cadian hvy wep team clubbed a lone wolf in tda to death with the mortar tube after surviving the charge. i lol'd..

Just because I cant think of a kill in a game of warhammer 40K here's on from Dawn of war 1, Ig Vs Chaos, used cure of the machine spirit on a predator, then blew it up with an assassin in one shot, repeated with a defiler.
Hers another one in the campaign, the tau mission where you have to kill the ethreal (might have spelled it wrong) managed to do it with an assassin because he walked into range.

i've got a few stories...

the first, in a 5th ed game my DE Vs chaos, (1750pts i think...) my incubi go on the rampage and kill half the chaos army on ther own - 10 plague mariens 5 termies, 10 odd other marines and other stuff i can't remember- it hurt to say the least, and they were still near their full starting strength at the end of the game!

in a multiplayer match (5th) a cheeky plague marien blew my baneblade up with one meltagun shot (Jammy )


a 6th ed one- last week i got roped into a intro game- me and another club member facing 3 potnetial new recruits to our club (we had 1500 each (GK and Necrons ) they had 1k each for 3k per side (tau, chaos marines and blood angels) )

they got first turn (apparently as we were supposed to play "nice" cough ) turn 2 arrives, dante and 5 sanguinary guard drop behind my GK, toast one of my rifleman dreads (here we go...). Our turn my GK move into shooting positions, mr necron brings his flyer on and drops 15 necorn immortals out as an insurance policy anyway after the sanguinary got killed by my GK (20 odd GKs and a landraider plus the remaning rifleman dread...) the immortals opened- up bye bye Mr dante

it was ridiclous as when said player elected to deploy them there we did point out (to be nice... ) that it wasn't a good idea to place them there we go the 2+ save cocky reply, despite the tau player knowing what he was doing (decent palyer in the making there) and he said the same thing... as that player pointed out 500 or so points out the window to 135...

This was back in 5th.

I recently started playing my Blood Angels and had a Librarian with jumppack as my HQ choice.
The 2 powers I took from the codex were "Fear of the Darkness" (24" leadership -2 modifier) and "Shield of Sanguinus" (5+ coversave).

The game was against a friend of mine who brought his Necrons.

In my first turn of shooting I shot my Fear against a group of warriors (20) and they fail their leadership, 2D6 roll and run of the table, hilarious.

He than took his revenge with his Overlord on a barge, he had a psychic power that can take over a vehicle within 18".
My vindicator came under his control and he shot at a 10 man Assault Squad, hit all, killed all

Never run a vindicator behind my troops again after that

Plague Zombie Aspiring Champ beat a Noise Marine Aspiring Champ in a duel. Then next round, the same Plague Zombie Champ beat the fully tooled up Slaanesh Sorcerer those Noise Marines were toting around in a duel.

Best bit? Anrakyr's power isn't psionic. He just does it on a 4+.

I love Necrons.

An amusing story; my brother brings on his Razorwings again. "Hey, I have a full rack of missiles left!" he declares in frustration at the end of that turn.

"Not any more. Anrakyr uses Mind in the Machine on the Razorwing! Three Monoscythes at the Guard blob!"

(this was 5th, when you could still fire all your missiles at once, obviously).

Plasma Cannon taking out basically all the Chaos units in the Dark Vengeance box set every time my girlfriend and I play. -_-

1st edition.

All that is left is 1 squad of 10 guardsmen with lasguns & 1 shot (unused) auxilary krak grenade launchers vs a squad of 5 eldar rangers plus an avatar ready to charge next turn.

Declare split fire, 5 on rangers & 5 on avatar. Rangers behind cover (5's to hit), need 6's to wound avatar.

Guess how that went

Best kill i had was by my Marshall and his command squad against my friends Tau.

Drop pod assault my Marshal(combi plas) and his command squad (2plasma guns) to alpha strike his eldar allies manning a quad gun, which fails horribly as i only hit with 2 plasma shots and had to roll gets hot with the others which kill one initiate.

On his turn, the squad barely survives all his shooting with only my marshall and the remaining plasma gunner left alive. He decides to charge me with 2 crisis suit teams (one of which was his 2nd HQ crisis suit cmdr).

Combat resolves, I save all his attacks while my initiate kills a drone. He then rolls 10s on his ld check on both squads, one of which falls back off the board and the other one getting killed by sweeping advance.

Was my first decisive win with my templars this edition.
