Update, morning of the 15/1/2013

Did some more to the symbol, some green , blue and highlights done.
I think that some red lights in the eyes would look good in the carnival.

[Thumb - photo12.JPG]
Here is a part of the symbol now complete.

Yes, I am planning on having a about a 4ft x 18in banner on top to make it look taller and draw more attention at the carnival, this was covered earlier in the thread, please look above.

I have contacted gamesworkshop and asked them if I can have permision to use their music and help with any stickers etc in the carnival, They were not interested and just pointed me to thier IP page on the website. I dont think they understand what i am doing. This project will be seen by thousands on people, so its good advetisement for them. This will be the only walking costume of its type ever made to date as far as I know.

Yep, like trying to get blood from a stone or turn water into wine [/cliche]...

What music did you ask to use, wasn't aware they held any copyright on original music?

The sarcophagus is looking might fine - that skull is the icing on the cake imho, I must admit that I had my doubts initially, but am totally glad to be proven wrong

For audio and such from the games you probably need to contact THQ / Relic for legal stuff.
Or just use it and no one will care. xD

Update 17/1/2013

Today I started on making the cables for front of the dreadnought, so here is some pictures
on how I am going to make them.

Poppys power sword came today for her costume, she is 8yrs old and is going to be an Assault marine.

[Thumb - 6.JPG]
Here is Poppys power sword, it glows up and makes some sounds, she will love it

[Thumb - 1.JPG]
Tops from milk cartons saved up over a few months.

[Thumb - 4.JPG]
cut a hole so the pond hose can fit inside.

[Thumb - 3.JPG]
cut pond hose so it fits between the plates on the front 120mm

[Thumb - 5.JPG]
When put together it looks like this.

[Thumb - 2.JPG]
Now it will be painted red and hose will be drybrushed. then bobs your uncle, job done.

This just gets better every time I check up on it! I think maybe the skull symbol is a little bit too low though? Maybe it'll look better to my eye when the vision slit is on there.

The view slit will be one of the last things to do to the main body because, I have to line up the slit with my vision when my legs are made so
the bottom of the main body looks right with my legs on. As I am 6ft tall not 8ft tall the view slit will be a bit lower than you see on the models.
This gives me the advantage of raising the main body so that it makes the dreadnought taller and more to scale with the space marines with me
in the carnival. So that answers the question of why the symbol is a bit lower. In this postion the symbol should be about 5ft high so people in the
carnival will see it at a good height. I plan to put red L.E.D lights in the eyes of the skull, giving a good effect at that height.

Update 19/1/2013

Today I carried on working with the cables and wanted to finish them. I also did the two longer ones at the bottom.
Some head way was made with the missile launcher as well.

[Thumb - photo10.JPG]
Cables were painted and drybrushed. Red for high voltage,I like how they have turned out.

[Thumb - photo14.JPG]
Cables now have been added to the main body.

[Thumb - photo13.JPG]
So this is how the main body looks now.

Ha ha , he of little faith . I worked out how wide the costume will be today, about 81 inches and 7-8ft high then add the 4ft banner on top = 11-12ft of pure terror.

I think people will notice me in the carnival. I am aiming to get first prize in my class at bridgwater.
