There are two things wrong with that statement....first the game was Mordheim...secondly these figs came out long before finecast.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

There's some good dubstep out there. Just got to know what to look for. Example, James Blake.

That's clearly a bolt pistol, not a las pistol, it's just a bit slimmer and more archaic as it's from Inquisitor which is 54mm models instead of 28mm

Karamazov is literally the most 40k model ever sculpted. He's huge, overwrought, laden with detail, has not one but two servitors with him, there's skulls everywhere, it's a vehicle that is in no way reasonable or logical, and he still expects to hit people with his sword from it. That model is silly as hell, and it IS 40k. If someone were to ask me to show them something that represented 40k in one model, it would be Karamazov. It's silly, stupid, and completely awesome.

I'm currently stripping one of those models to repaint for a friend. I think it's an excellent model, just because it shows the madness that is the ordo hereticus/xenos/etc to its full extent.

To explain the sword, think of it as purely symbolic (like a Judge's wig)

There are some really silly models in the old imperial guard, most of "colonel schafers last chancers" are silly, especially when you look at the names:
Colonel Schaeffer,
Grease Monkey,
Shiv,
Scope,
Warrior Woman,
Hero,
Animal,
Brains,
Fingers,
Rocket Girl,
Ox,
Demolition Man.

I always hear the benny hill theme when i look at those figures..

I used him in 2nd a bunch of times as he was the only way for IG to get a strategy rating that wasn't crap, was pretty sure I had him during my rouge trading days too but then again I could be going senile..

Yeah that Macharius model first showed up during 2nd Ed.

I kinda wish I had all the last Chancers. I’ve got about half of them (Warrior Woman, Rocketgirl, Brains, Scope, the two guys who look like Commissars/Mordian Officers). The rest are good though, and would be great for Dark Heresy...

I have the set, but only because I won them... when they were released, the local GW store ran a competition to design your own Last Chancer - build a model and give them rules. First prize was the box set.

A decade or so later I'm finally painting them up, for use as a Necromunda Van Saar gang...

Hiding in a dark alley with a sharp knife!

Guitar marines are a bad inside joke, and the sooner everyone forgets about them, the better.

Indeed.
Both the heavy metal Noise Marines and the "Goffik Rokker" Orks are from GW's "Rawk and Roll!!!111!!" era. Old timers will recall that as being the late '80s to the early '90s. All the studio staff sported mullets or "big hair", GW had their own in-house rock band, White Dwarf featured polls inquiring about the reader's taste in music, and the then rare GW stores usually had piped in too loud metal as their ambiance music. This was also when GW did some of their best work as far as fluff writting and miniature design, but as someone who has always been very straight laced" I could have done without the extras.
It was a dark time best forgotten!

As for my vote as to silliest model, how do the '93 series World Eater Assault Marines grab you?

What's up with the one bare leg?

I must not think they are too silly as I just painted up a whole squad of them with Chapterhouse "heresy era" jump packs as my "counts as Raptos" unit.
