Subject: Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God!

I was 450 pages into my bloated necromunda project thread, when something Tookish woke up inside me, and I longed to see the mountains.
I saw the new Hobbit film "An unexpected journey" twice now in the theatres, did a Lord of the Rings Extended edition movie Marathon, and gathered some reference materials for my quest.
"You will have to manage without pocket-handkerchiefs, and a good many other things, before you get to the journey's end." ~ Dwalin
However, paint is not something I am starting with in short supply

I'm gonna subscribe to this! I'm doing the same as you, working my way through the Hobbit models (I've got practically all of them apart from the Eagles and the Trolls)
What do you think of the iPad app?
Looking forward to seeing some of your finished stuff

Looking very much forward to this, used to be into the LoTR Strategy Battle Game in a big way. Hopefully this is not going to force me to buy a Hobbit force though

Thanks guys!
@Stubacca- The trolls are the most expensive GW models ever I think, but it is marketed specifically to me. I lhave loved the story of the trolls since I was a kid. In fact, Tolkien wrote the Hobbit for his own children, and the trolls were their favorite scene as well. I still need warg riders, and eagles..and they haven't released an Azog mini yet, I'll look forward to that release. I never got into any of the previous games, but The Hobbit was actually the first miniature wargame I played 25+ years ago also, so it's a nostalgia thing I think. The ipad painting app is expensive @ $25, it's full of typos, and p. 63 has the wrong color names labelled..but it IS very thorough otherwise, not really 'Eavy Metal or Golden Demon standard, but better than average tabletop standard I'd guess.
@Vit -No actually, think of this as the 3rd edition LOTR Strategy Battle game. Hobbits don't have an army (yet- rumor is that one of the next two Hobbit movies will have a flashback scene about Bilbo and Frodo's ancestrial Hobbits, and tell the story of the historic Battle of Greenfields, specifically Bilbo's Great Grand-Uncle Brandobras "Bullrorarer" Took, who was so huge (for a hobbit) that he could ride a horse
Otherwise, it's completely compatible with all existing models and army books. I cannot sit down and just read through the 40k or WFB books for some reason, but this big rulebook is different somehow.

Yeh, I noticed that. For the price I would've liked it to be at least proof read, but it helped a lot knowing what colours to use etc
The price of the trolls is putting me off, but I suppose if you consider they're three dreadnought sized models, I'm kinda tempted. The Warg riders are really nice models, easily painted too. I'm struggling with how to paint orc skin though haha these are my first ever ones
