Built the pavements, now I need to go outside and set up the sawhorses to cut a base of hardboard to fit. It's an odd size.

I like the bump out over the front door, reminds me of old castles and how they would greet guests with boiling oil, could make a nice sniper perch as well.

Running to the library, my daughter had a book on hold, maybe they will have 12 monkeys as well.

Usually those castles had their abort built like that...covered from eyes inside to look like a wardrobe... So rather poo to be expected there that hot tar...
And my wife said the same about how good-looking the "bump"is...

Not quite sure why, but the primer is taking an extra long time to dry today

It's only 44% humidity and 70 degrees, quite nice out, I even have the back door to the shop open

It must be intelligent primer. It knows you want it to dry so it is doing the exact opposite. It mas manufactured to be like a women....or small children.

It will be the resin. Looking nice, pavement work brilliant.

And I don't see the point why resin would make primer take longer to dry... Its speak as steel or plastic... So no point...

Well, I suppose it has to bond with the surface, since that is it's purpose...

Well if it's proper primer it's going to want to chemically bond to the surface. Change the surface = change the reaction conditions = change in reaction time...

Hopefully it does eventually dry...

I think that looks brilliant.

And as to the primer. I think, plastic and even steel have a surface structure where paint will adhere to easier, where as the resin is so smooth a texture, the paint sits on it more, if that makes sense. Can't really explain it, DrH can probably get it more clear than me, but having painted just about everything with just about anything over time, I have found it's things like, if you paint stainless steel it takes forever to dry compared to normal mild steel, or filer.

Just glad it worked ok in the end and now has the makings of some beautiful red bricks.

Hmmm...so I learned something new... Does that mean by the way that smelly primer and imp primer are no real primers? They certainly don't change the surface...

The red against the white looks already amazing, even at this early stage!

Primer doesn't change the surface, the ONLY purpose of primer is to give the other layers of paint something solid to stick to. Without primer, your paint can just lift off the surface. Like my masking tape accident, sometimes it still does that anyways if the primer hasn't cured completely. All paint is comprised of three physical elements, medium, binder, and pigment. Drying and curing are two different things too. Drying is just the process of the medium evaporating, Curing is the chemical reaction that takes place when the binder changes from liquid to solid state. The presence of the medium determines when the chemical reaction takes place. That is how your paint stays liquid in the pot, the medium is still present therefore it remains in a liquid state. GW pots don't seal properly, allowing air to slowly evaporate the medium.

I believe smelly primer was an alcohol-based medium, or some other chemical similar, not sure. I AM sure that Devlan Mud used liquid-ass as the medium, hence the smell

I do know that I used to prime with Chaos Black, and I am not as happy with Abaddon Black, though it's probably exactly the blooming same stuff. And Ceramite White is just annoying the heck out of me because the pots dry up before I can use them. And if I water it down it's useless, and smelly primer did exactly what it said on the tin. i.e. Prime. Why do they mess with stuff.

Chaos Black used to have the properties of a brushed on primer as well as smelly primer. I am unsure about this abbaddon black.

Oh don't be emabarrassed Cam, no harm, no foul Bro! Actually, I have been working on this thing all damn day, and it was a little too much into my head when I typed all that. An outing of pizza and beer helped me chill out a bit
