Yeah, 12 hour shifts are only surpassed in taking up an entire day by split shifts, such as 9-6, 3-12. I've done both in a pub and done nothing else with my time at the time.
Didn't get long weekends in the pub trade though (didn't get weekends at all). Good to hear things are going well. Enjoy your weekend.

So.....the new PLASTIC FETHING STORMTROOPERS have me a bit excited I have to admit. The Taurox needs Zinge front wheels and a scratchbuilt front axle no doubt. The question is...should it be a typical front axle with crossbar, or a modern LAV-type independant drive/suspension thing?

Everyone on the entire internet hates the front treads on that thing universally. I don't get it. There's no way that was a good idea. Otherwise it looks like the kit has a lot of potential.
I know we don't care if GW stuff would really work...but theoretically, would independant front suspension work with the fixed rear treads of a halftrack?

I'm thinking the front fenders may need cut off and remade to fit the wheels though. Not sure until I see them together in person. GW's site has a good detailed pic of the sprue from the bottom of the chassis. It appears that there is plenty of room down there to do stuff....fairly flat.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I don't think the Militarum Tempestus codex is replacing the entire Imperial Guard. I think the Internet has it all wrong here.
Why do I think that?
Well the Codex is
1. Only 72 pages
2. an online-only exclusive
3. and the descripton says this:
retailerId2ec90ff8localeen_USviewproductIdprod2430050astoreIden_USexcludeDefaultStoretrue
Codex: Militarum TempestusFor the first time, the Scions of the Schola Progenium grace the pages of their very own Codex - exclusively available here!
The Ordo Tempestus commands the finest human soldiers in the galaxy. It’s disciplined ranks boast not only the elite Scions of the Militarum Tempestus but also brutal Commissars.
Within the 72 pages of this hardback, full-colour book you will find:
- A definitive guide to the Militarum Tempestus, including the structures of the Officio Prefectus and a record of many of the legendary deeds enacted by this brotherhood of warriors.
- The story of how Scions and Commissars are trained by the Schola Progenium to best the best human warriors.
- A stunning showcase of the Ordo Tempestus Citadel miniatures, presenting the uniforms, regimental names and insignias of the Imperium’s elite.
- A full description of each unit, the rules for its use, and an army list that enables you to organise and collect an army worthy of the most discerning Lord Commissar.
So these are Guard Officer orphans, raised in the Scola Progenium, i.e. Storm Troopers and Commissars. This isn't replacing the regular fluff of raising Guard Regiments.

Rip of the front fenders, extend the rear tracks a little and stick some suspension in for the front wheels Dave

It means if you want to use Stormtroopers and Commissars in your IG Army, you have to buy two codexes.

Yes, agreed. Don't really like the rest of it though. I think It can make a lovely truck or halftrack.
I look forward to this being done. But do something to the track units that you do use. Or even better use different ones. The details on the side, I know are there to match the other army-formally-known-as- IG vehicles, and that's fine. It's the overall shape of the units I don't like. I think it's mainly the angle (or lack thereof) of the front and rear that makes them too square. They are also too tall by themselves. And the way these are attached to the vehicle... Individual tracks like this, as far as I know, are used to give them the ability to move independently and rotate on their axles to aid in crossing rough terrain. It's even described as being good for all terrain. So why does it not have any suspension travel The ride in that thing would be hideous with the square tracks bumping up and over every little lump in the terrain... The turret and weapon positioning could also be better... And then the worst part, for me, is the painted examples... the ones shown on the GW website... where they hope to attract customers to buy one or 12... where they should be being shown off in the best light, with the best paint job etc... seem to be warped and bent.... If the official examples are not cast right, I don't have much hope of buying one that's straight. I'll build my own thanks GW. It's a shame really Here endeth my opinion.

If you wanted to make an armored truck like transport companies use for moving money around, that kit would contain some useful stuff.
Poorly painted for a poster model, badly lined and sloppily dry-brushed. Poorly assembled, the hatch, you can see where it was cut from the sprue and too much was cut. You can see a seam line on the turret. Et cetera. Amateurish.
The people at GW have no clue about what tracks are for. Nor any clue about good vehicle design anymore. Turn it all over to ForgeWorld, I say.

Where I have all the confidence in the world for your skills dave, ...........this thing may take all your ninja modeling skills to make look good .
Also I heard that the thing has grav plates underneath it to help it move swiftly across the battlefield. That made me wonder why? We're they trying to explain that its a half-grav vehicle? Next they will have an upgrade sprue to make this into a hovercraft and call it the water buffalox .
Either way excited to see dave back in the modeling saddle.
