Hello, my name Joseph Frymire; I actually don't play Warhammer 40k or am familiar with the universe but I have played Space Marine before.
Here is my review http://www.southtexannews.com/entertainment/warhammer-40k-space-marine-%E2%80%93-brutally-boring/
Space Marine was an enjoyable game, but it was BORING. The game tries too hard; its the equivalent of the uncool nerd that tried to fit in with the cool kids in High School but always failed because, well. they're nerds. Space Marine really wants attention, its like virgin nerd with no friends. That is what Space Marine is, a game that is desperately trying hard to be cool with all these stupid gimmicks like Chain swords and Orks(which was taken from Warcraft, but lets ignore that for now); the game thinks its unique when it lifts aspects from other better games such as Warcraft, Starcraft and Gears of War. Its like a bad girl friend that really wants to impress you but can't.
Also, the game itself is a cartoony mess; you get stupid weapons like the "blasta gun" or the boltmetal gun or something stupid like that and it looks like it came from a looneytunes cartoon. Also the game itself is boring and generic.
Overrall, Relic and Gamesworkshop needs to stop trying so hard. The game wasn't bad but it was like Jersey shore, but worse where its fun, but you forget about it because it was actually mediocre. While looking up Warhammer 40k, I noticed that they made a miniature game based around Space Marine of which GamesWorkshop is making. The Miniatures themselves are very expensive and I don't know why people would buy them considering that they're isn't a very big fanbase for Space Marine. Relic needs to stop makin games and Games Workshop should instead make miniatures for better IP's such as Starcraft or Warcraft.

There was more variety in Space Marine than there is in any modern military shooter these days.
There were different enemies, different guns, different melee weapons, combo attacks, ect ect. The multi-player was amazing as well, a good fresh breath into the scene.
You are welcome to your own option, but if you're factually wrong, then your wrong.

Other way round, the video game is based on the tabletop game.
The Miniatures themselves are very expensive
Can't argue with you there
and I don't know why people would buy them considering that they're isn't a very big fanbase for Space Marine.
However, there is quite a big fan base for Warhammer 40,000 and WHFB. In fact they are one of, if not the largest tabletop wargame franchises in the world.
Relic needs to stop makin games and Games Workshop should instead make miniatures for better IP's such as Starcraft or Warcraft.

Well......I have to give it to you. You are very good at being wrong, a quick search would tell you that Warhammer came out in 87 while Sc came out some years later on. And Space Marines not having a fan base. I assume you have not noticed that all DoW games has had Sm in the lead roles, with the exception of Winter assault. And if you look at Gears Of War its the other way around more likely when it comes to taking inspiration from Warhammer 40k.

5/10. Nice effort and the style isn't bad. Mixing in some truth ( Spess Muhreen wasn't that great ) is a relatively advanced technique too. Yet ultimately your are trying too hard.
Next time try a bit more restraint and you will receive much more rage.

Okay, I just found out that Warhammer 40k is indeed older then the other IP's but that alone does not make it better then say, Starcraft or Warcraft. Also, just because the IP itself came first, doesn't mean a game based on that IP didn't take aspects from various other games such Gears of War with the hack and slash gameplay.
Overrall, the game isn't horrible, but mediocre.

Since when has Gears of War been in the 'hack-and-slash' genre? I don't play many newer video games. Did things get shifted around? Is Halo 4 now a dating sim? Cortana seems clingy enough in those trailers.

I completely disagree. It wasn't the greatest game but it was easily one of the best 40k video games available at the time. It was also a very passable 3rd person shooter.

Mediocre yes.
The Game's ip gameplay mechanics have been around FOR longer than the entire gears of war series.
To be honest every video game reviewer reviews games according to a biased place, especially for third person shooters. Third Person shooters are often compared to the successful gears of war series, when in reality some of the best third person shooters and inheritly better games such as Spec Ops the Line or Resident Evil 4. The Storylines are even better than the entire gears of war stories due to unknown plot twists, and things that make you creeped out. Gears of War does not accomplish this. Space Marine does in some manner, If you happen to gather all of the audio logs you will find surprisingly awesome voice acting, instead of a gruff voice acting that is very apparent in gears of war.
To be honest I disliked it due to its health system, but loved it for being creative with how to obtain health, and weapons options actually felt different, not a simple aawesome this gun can shoot faster because it has this. The guns felt different and handled different, that is what i liked about the game. Very few of the guns in Gears can say that. Oh but Asherian what about the Lancer and the Hammerburst. So what! They are two different guns with alternate settings, one can fire rapidly and the other... fires semi automatic. which isn't too special. The guns may look different but they all function the same in gears of war. Space Marines the guns and close combat weapons made a very big difference in your play style. ARe you a sniper with a melta gun with a chainsword. Or are you a thunder hammer guy that says feth the police and kills people with a fething jetpack? What makes this game inheritly better is also the multiplayer and the survival modes, which are extremely fun. Unlike Gears of Wars REALLY REALLY bad multiplayer where I just sat in the back with a longshot rifle and boom the round was ended.
Calling it a clone is preposterous
Everything is mentioned in the history of 40k. Please before commentating and saying anything on the matter, please, become more well acquainted and read up with the history of the IP and of the story of 40k before reviewing. I also review games for the hell of it. And I commonly look at games due to the following criteria. Was it worth playing? Was it enjoyable? Was it Interesting? Was there any story? How was the voice acting? Was there any type of character progression, other than his voice getting gruffer?
That is how you compile a good review is through listing examples of parts you enjoyed, THEN talking about the things you hated. Its not like the Video Game 'Amy' where there IS NOTHING redeemable about the game.
It is also good to not LOOK at any other reviewers for the game to avoid biasedness so you are not having high expectations as a game reviewer and jump on the band wagon that is known as IGN.
It needs work and it needs revisions once you follow these you will become a pretty good game reviewer hopefully the likening of Zero Punctuation.
