It's also worth noting that the cheaper (first class rather than tracked) shipping service is back for non-US shoppers which is a big deal as it moves prices back to 'just about affordable' from 'nope, can't do that'

no word as to whether last time was a glitch or a deliberate policy though

I guess i find it strange that printing cards is holding back the project, rather than production of the models (which would be affected by "new models").

Maybe an organisational issue then (doing the printing after having produced all the minis rather than the other way around).

It's a big shame for the new shipping charges too, and how they are not allowing separate orders to join onto the Kickstarters shipment. (Buy some new releases and add to the KS parcel that is coming anyway...)

Don't forget they've been doing playtesting while the tools and models were being made- theyre being done last because they were the most likely to need changes. The fact that they're printing must mean the rules are complete.

Also most of the new releases have been resin- completely different process to the HIPS the kickstarter stuff is being made from. Only complaint there is that he has released some models in HIPS, but that could be explained away by gaps in the production schedule(such as waiting on a sculptor, test model, etc. allowing time for a new quick release.

Ah, i see. Well it sort of excuses the prices (barely), but then the entire range is "Private Party for the Rich with no +1s and very strict dress code"... lol

The "they're doing a pile of other things without finishing the KS still stands though....

With the game at print for $2+M worth of product, that's going to take a while to finish printing. It's a lot of paper that needs proper drying, pressing, cutting. Adam compounded things by adding more and more content to the game, while choosing not to break out The Game (only) as a standalone initial shipment.

I'm just glad to think that the models and such will actually deliver, hopefully, sometime this summer.

According to Adam it was a software error.

Good to know, I emailed him about it at the time but didn't get a response (fair enough as he is crazy busy)

Wow - looking through some of the comments here I saw mention of a "visionary" - and thought, "huh, I don't remember that one."

I looked through their store in the sold out section - there's been like 10 releases (white knights, thief, visionaries, fighter, etc ) I've never even caught wind of. Sold out and hidden away before their existence was ever even made public apparently!

That's the story of Kingdom Death. One moment life seems fine and then the veil lifts and you look back to see the formerly pristine path littered with corpses and wailing masses surrounding you. As panic takes hold, horror surges up from the dark places of your heart as you realize that the chilling cries of despair are not entirely foreign.

Even with email notifications, I've missed out on plenty of releases.

Pretty easy to do when you only make 100 of something to sell.

To be fair, it's usually 500 units per release which is still a small amount. Just have to hope you make it on the next wave containing the models you missed.

This particular KD business practice is why I purchased as much as I could from the kickstarter.

Personally, I'd be very happy if they allowed monthly/quarterly pre-orders of miniatures kind of like batch processing to increase the general availability of models and decrease the wait time for obtaining them.

As Dentry said, 500. Still takes a while, and builds up hype for an encore several months later.

What usually happens he encores it until stock sits for a few days. Of course this process takes a couple months/years.

This was a major factor for me as well, adding on that the game itself sounds like a crazy good time, and that was what sealed the deal. I'm also afraid of resin, so the figures being available in plastic was another huge plus for me.

God, between my fiancee, my cousin, and myself (all on my pledge), we got damn near everything except for some of the pinups/promos, the Lion God, and the tree. The only one I kind of regret not getting was Survivor Candy, because we've since become huge fans of SDE.

Between myself and myself, I ended up with everything except the pinups and a survivor pledge.

Wish I got the survivor box for the extra pieces, but I think between everything else I'll be good.

I like that new White Speaker Sword Mistress or whatever she's called. Looks cool. If they didn't sell out instantly, and I could paint decent enough, I'd love to try my hand at one.

Maybe I should give that Restic Twilight Knight a try...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

It's not bad, but it's kinda meh. If you have the patience it is one of the models he regularly encores.

Or get the Pinups of Death box and get it in HIPS.

I've got an experiment in death, which included a restic version of the twilight knight. She's just sitting around unbuilt and unpainted.

That new sword mistress though. I'm loving all those straps all over her. Looks cool.

Same here, it looks sweet.

Did anyone else think the proportions were off a bit on the Fighter, even compared to other KD minis?

It's fluffy apparently ...

the Fighter is a host to parasitic worms that regenerate her body. They make her near-immortal, pale, and her eyes yellow. The worms feed off the water and salt in her body and thus she must consume copious amounts of both to stay alive but the resulting diet keeps her body swollen, obscuring her muscular frame. Her fighting style is sloppy and agressive, unhindered by fear of harm.

Though I think these parasites must be pretty common in the realm of Kingdom Death ... at least among the women.

Yes, the Fighter was curvy even in the realm of Kingdom Death. But she's one of my favorite models so far and I'm sad I wasn't in time to procure one because she's got a lot of character - not a euphemism for boobs - and I'm a fan of axes.

Of this latest batch I was quite tempted by the White Knight, he was pretty badass, but the others didn't do much for me. But with shipping (+$15) and taxes (+$20), I just can't justify making a purchase for a single mini. And then of course a few days later, when the Knight is long gone, the Flower Witch shows up... If a lot of stuff was available simultaneously, I would splurge for a big order, but I just can't afford to buy them piecemeal like this. Frustrated!

That might be one of my favorite things I've read on Dakka. I'm looking forward to seeing the other "generic classes", because the thief and fighter are freaking awesome. I wish I had been able to snag that thief model.

Edit: Hm, I don't remember the Flower Witch, I really like her! Would love to see her as a future Monster expansion, would have to give her the same (horribly painted) scheme that I'm going to give my Flower Knight. The Flower Knight and Alison the Twilight Knight continue to be my two favorite things Kingdom Death have done. I have a thing for knights, apparently.

That's a good philosophy here - and elsewhere - I think.

Now that you mention it, I've suspended all Otherworld Miniatures until that hellaciously ate Indiegogo campaign finally finishes delivering...

I've not bought anything in a while from the shop. I'm currently on a 'No game content? No sale' hiatus and will most likely stick with that. So, my only recent purchases were the plastic pin ups box and Xmas special, both came with game addons. Saved me money and frustration in the long run.

Chances are, any resin releases meant for gameplay will be redone in plastic anyway and bundled with appropriate rules. So, this way, I won't be paying twice for the same model!
