Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Hmmm... may have to keep an eye on this... the wife and I love Firefly and I am sure I could get her to play a game based on the series/'Verse.

Now I just need to hunt down a copy of GTM 162.

After hitting the two local shops without any luck, this may prove more difficult than anticipated.

It is available from the Paizo store but postage can be a bit of a pain if shipping internationally (although if you can do a bulk order for a couple of friends it works out okay as postage costs don't increase much per additional copy ordered).

No it's not.

It's available as what will most likely be a very sizable back order.

Ah, it wasn't on back order when I ordered it earlier. They haven't sent mine yet so I might be stuck in the back order as well now.

Don't really see any necessity for myself, thanks to kickstarting Xia.

Also, 'Verse astrography makes my head hurt at the improbability.

The funny thing is FFG can both be Fantasy Flight Games and Flying Frog Games. Both of which are entirely relevant in my case.

I should have known Fortune & Glory would never hit the table. Why did I sucker myself into getting it?

That's a shame. Fortune and Glory is a big hit with my crew.

If anything, I find it a bit annoying they never want to play cooperatively, usually 2 vs 2 teams, and the board has won its fair share (and perhaps then some).

But unlike Arkham Horror, I'm convinced it is possible to win F&G. Much as I enjoy playing it, that game can be 8 hours leading to the board's inevitable victory. Apparently they used to win it all the time, then they started choosing 'harder' old ones and adding expansions. In 2-3 years and across maybe a dozen games I've never seen it won.

My group has never won Arkham Horror, as the few times we've pulled it out we've either been bored to death by turn 4 or have been put in an unwinnable situation through bad card draws.

I really should think about selling it off as Mansions of Madness does the same theme a hundred times better.

Right now the games that regularly hit the table for our group are Zombicide, Smallworld, Survive! and Quarriors. Trying to get Archipelago and Wiz-war added to the mix.

Two board games I've rather enjoyed recently are Tzolk'in and Trajan.

My game trader order from the Paizo website was shipped today and as of writing they are back in stock (seems to fluctuate quite a lot) so they should have more copies available there if anyone is having trouble tracking it down.

Yay!

*rushes off to order 4 copies for himself and his friends*

Err, $14 S&H on an $8 order for 4 magazines.

Back to the drawing board.

Like, I'd love to have the promo figure, but not for $16 on a $2 magazine.

There is a big difference between ignoring a license because it makes you no money and trying to bury it.

That, and it's not like the cast has been precisely jobless the entire time to come back and do more episodes even if it were financially viable. Castle is doing rather well still AFAIK, and I could swear I remember reading something about Tudyk's movie career doing fairly well.

Jewel Staite also just got finished wrapping up a bit part on season 2 of AMC's the Killing (Holder's girlfriend).

She also writes a very touching chapter in the book Finding Serenity. Not every essay is gold, but overall I enjoyed the various topics of discussion, particularly her comments and shared experiences on the topic of a cherished series.

Also, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin and Nathan Fillion will be at Fan Expo (Toronto convention) this year. Hopefully I'll get a moment to mention how much I've enjoyed their works during one of the days I'm working there.

Funny story...

Scroll down to the "Tranquility crew".

Spoiler:

Sadly the campaign has ended, but they're supposed to be shipping out soon, so it might be worth asking around, checking secondary markets, or contacting them to see if they plan to go retail with these. I didn't pay particularly close attention, to be honest, and just snagged a pair of dice because I supported the endeavor, but if they'd had a Zoe in there, I totally might've bought in (and told them as much).

There is also the 'Calamity Crew' from the Sedition Wars
Kickstarter which I believe will be shipping soon. Different mix of characters then the 'Tranquility Crew' but may also be a slightly larger scale.

The blackwater gulch Tranquility crew are due to go to regular retail

(probably not to far away as the KS is due to ship after gamesalute get back from gencon)

the sedition wars Calamity crew were KS exclusive so you'd need to hit the secondary market for them. Again they should be shipping pretty soon, as some of this wave had already been airfreighted in to CMON

The rules are now available online -

Definitely has my interest.

For those attending Gencon, limited copies of the game will be available and they will also come with a free exclusive resin alliance ship (don't believe it has rules, just a higher detail model compared to the standard one)

Even at a cursory glance, that is one classy manual, and ties nicely into the series with pictures, examples of mechanics and whatnot.

Also, the game has a Dinosaur Marker.

That it, I'm calling it now, game of 2013.

I'm really hoping that the general perceived failure of Sedition Wars will mean that the Tranquility Crew will be available at reasonable prices. I had decided to opt out of Sedition Wars before their inclusion, and didn't lean about them until the KS was over.

Good news about the Blackwater Gulch models being available at retail. They will be a viable plan B if I can't bankroll a Tranquility Crew off of Ebay.

The Wild West Exodus KS also featured a KS exclusive 'not firefly crew' called the Merc Crew in their 32-35mm scale

Spoiler:

but I'm not sure how far along this one is as I didn't back it, but worth keeping an eye out

Rules sound good in spirit. Some sections are more vague than even Super Dungeon Explore's though.

Someone on BGG already pointed out the issues with "On the Job" (Whether crew are still On The Job when flying from Pickup to Delivery, what happens if enough crew are killed or sent back to the ship during a Job that the prerequisite skills are no longer filled.)

I would add that the costs for Full Burn need to be clarified (Do you spend one fuel per sector or just one fuel to activate Full Burn? Same for Nav Card draws), and I could do with some clarification on whether you do all the Pickup, Misbehave, etc. for a Job as a single work action.

Did anyone demo the game at GenCon? Would be interested in people's thoughts on the game

My group is highly interested in this too, so if there are any with demo experience, it'd be awesome to hear their thoughts.
