As we refer to it in the Uk. Officially known as Shrove Tuesday or, if one is of a certain age, "Jif Lemon day" .... .....

So Tv shows, papers etc etc are full of recipes and ideas etc etc.

In recent years however t'would seem there is a distressing trend towards the sin and heresy of the savoury pancake !

Further proof , if any was needed, that civilisation is in terminal decline and any day now cats will mate with dogs, the dead will walk the earth and the the Cubs will win a World Series.

... well..alright, we all know the latter ain't ever happening but anyway...

so then denizens of the OT board, where do you slump displaying bad posture stand on this issue ?

Is it sweet, sweet goodness all the way or do you venture into the darkside and indulge in the savoury side ? And if so .. why ?

Was eating pancakes with maple syrup and bacon when I came across this thread. I eat them all the time.

I'll eat my american style with bacon, eggs, hash browns and maple syrup,
I'll eat my british style with lemon and sugar (or sometimes ice-cream, and possibly Nutella,
I'll eat my savoury crepes (cheese and ham, although I've just had a brainwave to have chilli con carne in a pancake),
I'll eat my 'pikelets' (scotch pancakes) they way nature intended, warm and slathered in so much butter the pancake starts to dissolve.

A quick and dirty guide:
Crepe - Pretty self explanatory
'English' Pancakes - Like crepes, smaller, usually made with currants/raisins in the batter, bit smaller and sweeter
'American' Pancakes - The thicker spongy ones you get in your country
'Scotch' Pancakes/Pikelets - Small, thicker, sweeter pancakes, again usually with fruit in the batter, but essentially mini-english-pancakes.

And, just to confuse everyone:
DORAYAKI!!!!!

Probably work

I am apparently not nearly European enough to understand which definition of pancake you guys are using, so I will default to assuming that you are referring to the "fake 40k 6th edition" version of pancake. 40k is British, and Britian is in Europe, so it tracks, right?

In which case, do you prefer winter savoury or summer savoury? What manner of paper do you generally print the rules on prior to consumption?

For the style more common in the UK I always go sweet - lemon and honey.
For the US style I prefer syrup and a side of (what passes for) bacon.
The only savoury pancake I've ever eaten was a Vietnamese one and I was delicious.

But just to be difficult I'm trying some Pączki with apple, lemon and prune fillings (obviously not all in the same one )

I have absolutely no idea why, but that conjoured up an image of a Space Marine eating crepes...

Back to the point:
I like crepes, with butter, sugar and lemon juice, or golden syrup. We have 2 different sized pans in my house, so me and my brother take it in turns to have the larger one. I have this OCD thing where if I get a larger one, I slather it with syrup and then fold it into a triangle, and if I get a small one I add aforementioned butter, sugar and lemon then roll it up. I have never, ever disobeyed my OCD for pancakes. Ever.

Currently attempting to put together a homebrew non-canon Space Marine chapter. If I can be bothered to getting around to painting the models and putting the things together of course...
