The interview with Matt Holland specifically mentions "The Tau Commander's Enforcer Armor". so I would assume there's going to be a new plastic suit for the Commanders.

Enforcer armor sounds very good. very good indeed.

Quote from chromedog
and 40k was like McDonalds - you could get it anywhere - it wouldn't necessarily satisfy, but it was probably better than nothing.

I hope the commander enforcer armor has the Matt Holland high collar armor like his crisis conversions.

The bodyguards legs and torso's look slightly different from the standard suits so maybe the new crisis is a recut sprue. The arms and weapons look exactly the same though so I could be crazy.

Overall I'm excited for anything that gets another xenos on the table. It's not a great time to be a loyalist MEQ player anyway and this is only going to make it worse

I for one am ridiculously excited for the Tau update. They've always been my favorite and every time i saw my cousin get a new codex for his armies i was always so jealous! Now its our turn. Honestly im hoping its so evenly balanced that only tau players really start picking em up. i dont wanna see a bunch of bandwagon donkey-caves picking up the codex because its broken. we'll see right?

as far as the new models? i dont like the flyer but i dont really like ANY tau vehicles or any vehicles for any army for that matter actually. hopefully its not a must have.

riptide is cool. needs a better name but its not too terrible. i was always surprised tau didnt have a big walker type thing in the army.

i hope the Aun'shi rumors are true because his fluff has always been my fav. i hope hes actually useable.

the broadsides stats are kinda lame decreasing in strength. i just kind of hope it has an upgrade to either make it S9 or 10. either would make me very happy.

overall though im looking forward to this release more than ive looked forward to just about any release in anything. i hope GW doesnt destroy the best freakin army out there lol

Tyranids will consume the universe!!! There is no chance for survival!!
.........eventually anyways.........

WOW!

A new Farsight model?! Seems like the Tau flyers have drones. The Riptide's is absolutely amazing, but I wish the head was bigger.

Thanks for the update!

Thoughts:

Flyer: I like it for a bomber, not so much for a fighter. Mine will probably end up being a mildly converted Barracuda. The primary thing that kills it for me is not the rails but the profile, FIGHTER WINGS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. The sheer forces put on a modern air superiority fighter, let alone one from the 41st millenium, would snap those wings like so many pretzels. But for a bomber the stability they give is perfect.

Riptide: I fething love it. My only complaint is with the head, and even then It kinda works. The apparent ability to customize sounds awesome. Hopefully either Farsight makes Battlesuits troops, or the Riptide can be taken as an additional part of the FOC choice.

Broadside Resculpt: After having gotten a better look at it with some of the more recent pictures, I like it. My only complaint with the forge world XV-8x suits has been that they use the crisis suit torso, which looks like crap and this looks like an alternative torso for them. I would have liked to see them remain S10 AP1 and gain skyfire but we can't have everything we want.

Pathfinders: Not too much to say, apart from the new drones sound interesting.

Farsight: This is what the crisis suit re sculpts should have been if they had happened. I like his apparent posability, I like his torso and I like his arms. Most likely what I will end up doing is getting his torso and the XV-89 and doing a lil' bit of kitbashing.

Overall I definitely want a Riptide, everything else, I'm waiting to see the Codex.

I have only one complaint I hate the name Riptide. When did anyone ever think that sounds like a Tau sort of a name. really anything else could have been better.

From this point on I think I'll be calling it Supasuit, sounds better than Riptide!

I have said something like this in the thread before, but since how it looks like a mix of Gundam and Evangelion mostly to me, I was just gonna convert the heads and bodies of it maybe and just call it Tauvangelion,

Might or might not - they often mirror image shots for better compostion or other reasons.

I have seen some of the riptide shots mirrored already...

Regardless, I think that it will be cool to see how usable he is. I have been playing tau a long time (and did not retire mine, thank you very much) and have to say that I never had a lot of desire to run him - this might be a fun new build...

Sigh.. do we really need to repost the same pics EVERY page as if it were the first time and then quoting ALL the pics just to say one line of commentary? We're all obviously web savvy enough to post on the internet.. turning back one or two pages shouldn't be that difficult nor should pruning posts.

You're awfully confident about the aerodynamics and structural strength of a fictional airplane designed to fly on other planets with unknown atmospheres using technology that doesn't exist currently made out of entirely fictional materials.

Forgeworld broadsides do not use the standard torso, only the forgeworld crisis suits do that.

Also not sure if anyone noticed but the pathfinder "mystery weapon" looks like a miniature ion cannon, experimental kit for pathfinders maybe?

The Riptide is made when five Crisis suits lock together in the right configuration.

Anyone notice the twin fusion blasters on the shield?

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

Who is Tim?

I've been follwing this thread for a while, lurking in wait. My buddy plays Tau (and the gf has picked up my Eldar as her first army). Man, I'm going to have to buy the Riptide just for the model. Fething sweet. But seriously, I'm a little excited for the updated codex and I don't even PLAY Tau.
