Yep. I was also surprised to see them this soon. The WD must have gotten through the printing process early this month.

Some people think the leak was intentional. These pics came out just as GW's new policy undergoes changes about 3rd party retailers. Many people aren't happy about it so this 'leak' was supposed to take peoples attention away from the policy changes and towards new shiny stuff. So if no one knows/ is not paying attention to the policy change then there is nobody to complain about the policy.

Far fetched? Possibly but it is GW.

As a long time active tau player (have played them throughout 5th and 6th) I am very excited about the new dex and models.
While I would have loved more FW stuff in there…oh well, that is a rage for another time.
I am considering converting my XV9s into broadsides, and had a couple of questions;
Any better pics of the new broadside models out there?
The only ones I have seen are the big group shots, and in both of those you don’t get a very unobstructed view.
Secondly, any ideas on all their load outs? Or more specifically, is the railgun thing their only primary weapon? (I know they can still get missiles and plasma as secondary).
I thought there was the possibility of an uber-missile version.

You DO know that putting 'but it is GW' at the end does not make your crackpot theory any more valid? No? But it is Dakka...

That's the issue for me when we get into these conversations. A games company that can think ahead and use purposeful leaks as positive PR is less likely to make dumb miscalculations like the policy change in the first place.

I take it this is just the Commander kit's metal pieces recast in finecast?

We don't know yet. That's certainly a viable theory.

They have that out now. I saw yesterday, but its $13 for two heads and two guns.

If he is a squad upgrade he could be the Ion Blaster carrying guy. He looks fairly unique.

I kinda like the pathfinder kit. It looks like one of the models, possibly a shas'ui, has what looks kinda like (I'll probably get this wrong) a hakama, in my opinion. Or at least some kind of Japanese-inspired pants it seems. That's not really a bad detail.

The hakama is the big clown pants of traditional japanese clothes, AFAIK, and see, it looks more like the lower piece of a... Gabardina, sorry i dont know the name in english, the Neo`s Coat, i cant explain myself since i dont know how its called, but im possitive its not a hakama what were looking at. But anyway, that Shas`ui looks outstanding. The Pathfinders are the win-win model release of these wave imo.

Neo's coat is based on a priest's garment called a cassock in English. A long, close fitting thin coat with moderately full skirts, basically.

I'm interested in what the codex cover is like. Somebody said a suit shooting to the right? Sounds good so far!

To be fair, it's good they stopped that. Same with mini codexes.

Not because they were bad - far from it, I played the Salamanders mini codex. But because the white dwarf and mini codex lists never got updated unless they were lucky enough to be incorproated into a main codex.

It prevents people making a huge army (like those poor folk who went out and bought a Lost and the Damned army) which, after an edition, rots in a box.

Making an allies codex would at least make it a major release, which at least stands a better chance of being updated.

Did GW still do that thing they did with 'crons, where they released a video naming all the new units and their fluff?

We have seen both Finecast box models: The generic commander is in the page fold of the 2 sided battle pic, on the left (first round of pics):

So no new Ethereal character. And I never doubted that Kroot are still in the Codex. They are 50% of standard units.

Alright..I am now allowing myself to enter "slight enthusiasm mode green" for the upcoming codex...

Models look good, some of the rules rumors leaks sound good and intesting.

It seems as they are keeping the whole Tau army works as a group motif, that I have always enjoyed.

No close combat tau silliness (so far revealed)

and some interesting sounding spec characters.

I have been dreading/hoping for the Tau new codex for some time, and now I am getting a bit excited for its direction.

If they wait for a full allies codex to fully flesh out the Tau racial allies, I will be happy with that..better to have 15-20 pages in a designated codex, then 2-3 as a supporting cast member in a single race one.

I too have a huge number of unbuilt kroot models and hope for some kool krooty kraziness
