I have 60-70 of the 16mm dice in various colours and styles. From blue with white spots, to green with white, red/blue marbled, green/black marbled GW bullethole dice, etc They roll well enough for WHFB. When I need that double-6 on 3 dice, or when I need that number for a needed charge. The smaller 12mm dice roll badly and fall all over the place. I gave them away (but kept the scatter and artillery dice). But I also have a set of 36mm d6 that get used for various things. 3 green, 3 black and a single marble blue with the "Age of Strife - WHW 2009" on them (swapped some bits with another forum member and he sent me one of the dice they get made for their annual WHW meetups).

For 40k/WHFB I have a cube of 27 regular blue dice which are used for everything, unfortunately over the years, 4 or so have gone missing.
For Warmachine (due to the OCD colour matching) I got some large chessex marble green dice with gold pips and a couple of ivory-coloured CanCon convention dice to throw in for deviation.
Then there's the d20s for Infinity which are just a bunch of speckled, half-half or marble dice because they were the best ones on hand in the store when I started.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Have three blocks of dice that I travel with. 12 gold and blue dice that match my Cal Bears colors that I use for all my big weapons and then 63 12mm green dice for all my lasgun shots. This way I can roll my entire IG blob shots at the same time. I believe that if you are playing IG and you aren’t throwing handful of dice during your shooting phase then you are playing them wrong.

Until recently, I've used 3 GW cubes of mixed colors. One of my early birthday gifts to myself have been dice to match my army. That means gold flecked, solid cobalt blue dice and green transparent dice for my Necrons. Still using the GW scatter dice, though. For flames of war, I'm using the dice from the starters, but I'm sure I'll get some army specific dice there too. All my D&D/Pathfinder dice are yellow, either transparent or solid. It goes back to a superstition I had about my dice cup and Mt. Dew glass. Don't ask...

I bought the Gamer's Edition of 40K 6E when it came out. I really like the dice that came with it so much that I bought two more sets of the black version from the dice bundles they were selling. It's also super convenient they came with the lasgun cartridge tin that fits in my GE satchel.
They are a little big for mass rolling, but they are light, they feel and look really good, and they seem to roll pretty evenly. I use the red GE ones for special weapons and the like, and the black ones for mass rolls.
I hate a lot of things GW does, but those dice are really nice.

My quirk is that I have to have a separate set of dice for every army. If I use the dice for any other army, they will underperform. I also feel the driving need to have a set of custom dice for each army I play, since they're relatively cheap compared to the army itself.
Specifically, I've got a set of Ork dice (green/bronze with an Ork skull & crossbones as the "6" - with wrenches instead of skulls) and a set of Space Wolf dice (blue/gray with a wolf head as the "6"). I don't know what it is, but I always seem to do better when I'm using the proper dice for the proper army.
As soon as I get the money to buy some custom Tau dice, my Tau will be truly unstoppable.

Observing a dice which rolls higher or lower in a particular situation isn't "luck" it is observing bias. If the bias is undocumented and anonymous, then the results can average out.
Also, specific types of dice need a bank or a dice cup to be randomized or else they can be influenced by the rolling technique. Usually larger, square edged dice rolled in smaller numbers are easier to influence by technique. So using a crappy small round edged dice for most rolls but swapping for a square edge die which requires a dice cup or bank to be actually randomized gives the impression of so doing so to influence the outcome via technique.
So using loaded dice or controlling the outcome with rolling techniques is cheating. Observing bias and segmenting lucky die or using larger or easier to influence die for special important rolls is emulating cheating behavior or you may find yourself unintentionally in a situation where your results are not statistically fair.
Any die on the table needs to be available for any roll for it to be fair.
Well, everyone has their views for stuff like these. I just find it a little far fetched that most people would go to such lengths just to roll better.
It's really not that far a length to go, and a lot of people do it without consciously realizing that it's cheating. "These are my lucky dice for LD checks." It's an easy mental trap to fall into if you believe that Chessex/ GW/Crystal Caste dice are actually 100% random (they're not even close).

These are what I use for big rolls and LD tests. I don't think they roll high particularly better than anything else but it's a great feeling to need a six and up rolls DAKKA DAKKA. Other than that I have 20 years worth of GW die including some unerringly accurate scatter dice. Handy for an IG player. I have recently come into possession of a pair od 25mm die with EPIC FAIL as the 1. I am not sure whether to use these.
