Ah, having only seen the original film I wouldn't know. I guess they're going for the whole SG-1 line up based on all the military squad models that they've been producing?

To be fair, Daniel Jackson is in the first movie. He plays the nerdy guy who wants to save the planet. Just the actor changed between the movie and the series, same with Jack O'Neil (who my gerbil is named after)

There is also a General Hammond model who was recently shown, again big from the TV show. Nice thing about the SG-1 themed characters, is they also make good generic modern troopers

I'm really excited for the ogre skeleton. I've always enjoyed throwing down odd skeletons for my players to fight.

The Dwartist Painter apparently painted up their new female Sci-fi trooper.

I'd prefer an army of these, this style, than McVey's Sedition Wars stuff.

Is there a large enough variety of female and male poses for them already?

Or are they planned?

Urr... I'm not sure about that figure at all. I know it's leaning back and to the side but that spine looks horribly twisted. And I'm not sure how it could stand up straight with those padded bits up the torso.

Seems like they're planned. There's a second one, male I believe, currently in the works with photos posted on their facebook page.

I don't see the problem. The spine doesn't look out of place to me, though perhaps the upper body armor is misleading. The torso plates should be fine too, so long as they are not hard riveted to each other or a solid backing. You can get a lot of play with plates riveted to a flexible backing.

Whats my name?

This lovely lady needs a name. Fire away with your best shot and if your name is chosen then you get a free metal copy of her in your next order once she is cast.

Some updates with final versions of some of the WIPs we've been seeing.

I believe that's sort of the point. Though Ellie's figure looks a little off for some reason... the hair perhaps?
EDIT: Mind, these are still WIPs, no? So it will probably be resolved.

UNNAMED BUSY MOM!!!!

I need that model for my wife! And another for me!

So, what is the deal with this contest? Will more than one of these models eventually go up for sale? Because, ifit's only the single highest-voted model, then it will just be another unimaginative Busty McThongjob. I guess Hasslefree needs to add another of those to their catalog..?

The top three of each category will be chosen, that's all I know. And by the way, these are not done by Kev, but by forum members. I can only hope that the steampunk gal and the Fallout themed raider win.

Damn. Sure would have been nice to own that mini. I don't suppose it would be possible to find out who sculpted it and buy it from him or her, would it?

Damn.

......

But I'm glad Hasslefree is getting this opportunity to add 18 more butt cheeks to their line-up. Apparently those are good for business.

It's not Hasslefree that bothers me. It's the way voting works on the internet that bothers me.

I guess I'm saying that I'm cynical. I do not believe that the most interesting or creative sculpts will win over the most titillating. That's okay. It isn't ideal for me, but it will probably make Kev money, so it's great. I hope it does really well for him. Then he can finally get around to sculpting Stargate Atlantis...

EDIT: For a good analogy, we all know that FLGS make more money off of Magic cards than they do off of wargaming miniatures. We know that it's good that the stores carry a lot of Magic cards. It's good for them, so it's good for us. But it would still hurt to see your FLGS' manager consistently bring in more Magic cards instead of new wargaming figures, no matter how much we know it's good for business.

I voted for the three that I found to be the best sculpted. After all, there's already plenty of buttcheeks available for viewing online...

It very well may be worth waiting to see the results before condemning the contest.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone have some shots of the modern troopers side-by-side with some other models? Particularly next to Infinity models?

Looking all over for some Chasseur models and these would be perfect if their proportions are similar.

Theres an image of one of them beside a boarding shotgun SAS model down in the Community Pledging thread right now

I hear that the user who took that picture is incredibly handsome as well. But he doesn't have any chasseur models sadly, so he can't help you with direct comparisons.

Thanks for the pic, was just about to ask for a link.

Beautiful models, sadly I think too big for my Chasseur needs.
