@Camkierhi: Thanks, Cam. Hectic. Yes, indeed. Good word, too. Old Chinese curse about living in interesting times and all... @Gits: Thank you! Will try to stay back this time! @Graven: A little behind with old projects, but will try to give a shot. Great theme, BTW! @Vik: Hey, Vik! Glad you like them! @Dr H: Thanks, Doc! Sorry to have missed your Comp round (Nice reference pics in there ) @insaniak: Thank you. Wanted to try some more lively colour choices on the DZ rather than the usual grimdarkness, glad it seems to be coming through. I managed to put some more colour on the Delaques today, and started with the longcoats' red lining. It already adds a good contrast to what I had so far, pics to come soon. Cheers! Edit: Erased tripled post, guessing due to poor connection/over-refreshing issues

It's been too long since I chopped some plastic, so put the brushes away today and got started on a new batch of custom Grot tanks.
Just the basic hull shapes for now:
And for scale:
That last one might be too wide, might have to redo it...
Some grinding, sanding and gap-filling to do now.
Cheers.

@All: Thanks a lot, good to be around!
Little to show for today's work, two of the to-be hulls did turn out too wide, one got replaced by a new, trimmed one (saved the wider chassis for future use); the other one stays, I´ll rework the track design to keep it from overgrowing sidewise.
And, Sunday and all, no painting today either...
Weather forecast for the week is quite grim, there's even a chance of rain over the next day or two, so maybe - work is mostly outdoors - I'll even get a chance to get some more done before the next weekend.
Thank you for stopping by.

Complaining about the weather? Let's see, yesterday in DC, it was 36.6C with 40+% relative humidity and today, 34C with 45+% relative humidity. Mmm. balmy. Oh and rain? Hereabouts, thunderstorms practically every night. Could be worse though. The massive drought in California for example.
Quite the grot tank collection. That is packing foam-- not styrofoam?-- of some sort, which you are using as filler. Never found a use for it myself. But that is a good idea.

No, no complaining, quite the contrary. It doesn't rain more than a dozen times a year around here, so it was more of a hope... Did not come through, though...

Yes, packing foam (as in extruded polystyrene). Cut to the basic shape for the hull, and used as a frame/support for mounting the chassis' pieces. Holds everything together while the glue dries, and makes - specially odd or angled joints - easier.
As said, little time, so little progress... First turret WIP:
Welded, not riveted, but what do Grots know about the true underlying facts of the Universe?

Well, it is indeed a small tank, for a small Grot... I guess a big bomb would only be fair...

Just one more for the time being, they seem to come in threes. And no idea yet, not much of a plan, these are somewhat just growing for themselves...
Only requirement was the weapons loadout: one rokkit launcha (check), two kustom mega blastas (coming up next); and not too obnoxiously big weapons. Might have missed the mark on that one.

Ah, so you are in the rain shadow of the Andes? ( Sombra de Lluvia? No idea what the term is in Castellano.)
Crude welding? So, Soviet Grots? Grotskys!
I think some sort of bed/channel/ramp for the rocket would be a nice touch.

the mono track tanky is a crazy idea....how would grots be able to steer them? probably be getting out and shoving them back in the right direction, then getin drive onwards and redo from start
the turret (even tho it is welded^^) looks very grotty^^

Like a sled maybe... with bars on the sides that can dig into the ground and create resistance that drags the tank in one direction or the other.

@Red H: Hadn't heard it like that, but definitively yes, most of the rain stops at the other side of the Andes! Makes weather forecasting easier, too
And agreed, some launching ramp is needed there, will do.
@Magos: Thank you, glad you approve!
@Vik: Not a specialist, but from what I hear, Grots know only two directions: forwards if prodded, reverse if not
Speaking of possible (over)compesating, the other gun:
And the last one, this one in a more "reasonable" (if such applies to the topic at hand) scale:
Both very WIP kustom mega blastas.
Thoughts?
Thanks for stopping by.

Methinkst with a bit of tweaking... you could make the second one look like the giant plasma phallic symbol on that one IG tank. Not that I really want it to look like a penis, but copying the look of that gun on the plasma tank seems to be a very grotty thing.

interesting idea Git....that could work...although of course considering grots this might be too much high tech in a way it is like steering a canoe... Automatically Appended Next Post: and...plasma in the hands of grots.... be afraid...be verrrrry afraid...
