I suspect that they're busy readjusting their stretch goal spacing at the moment.

The core game apparently weighs over 4 kg (9+ pounds), not including stretch goals. Welcome to costly shipping via courier air

So we back the project with the pledge we want plus the amount of money the calculator gives?
The way they have it in their site is like you can order it directly from there and not through the Kickstarter.
I think I understand something wrongly.

I have a feeling they don't want the pledge to have shipping as that artifically inflates the KS funding. Probably a post-KS pledge manager thing to pay shipping. I wouldn't worry about it at this moment as I'm sure they'll clarify soon.

How can they have nothing about licensing in their "Risks and Challenges" section? And they're using the commercial produced by GW and / or Milton Bradley in the pitch video!?

"What has been leaked in the Spanish forum, and OBVIOUSLY is still UNCONFIRMED is that the shipping cost calculator is just to get an idea of the future shipping cost.
***At this moment*** it SEEMS that backers just have to pledge the amount listed and the shipping thing will be resolved afterwards.
They are not dealing with the Amazon Payment System, they are using direct Credit Card paying method, so it is posible to "arrange" the final amount of payment once the KS campaign ends."

So again just do your normal pledge and worry about shipping later.

Wow! Remember that TV advert! Can't believe it is 25 years ago...

Think this is going to be massive. Really.. early days, but the far reaching appeal of this game makes me think that it is probably going to hit at least £1 million.

 Forar wrote:

Enthusiastic as I am about the project, given that I already have a boxed copy sitting at home there's a chance they'll only get a $1 tip from me when all is said and done

I'm not being critical of the original when I say that undoubtedly this game will contain miniatures that are substantially better than those found in the earlier version.

In fact, from the last few seconds of that video some of the concepts/renders already look really cool.

They're aware that the USD may come under fire again once another round of "so, are we sure we should pay all our bills?" fires up again in the next month or so? I mean, not to get too political, and I'm aware the actual battleground may be fought in mid January or February, but it could be a factor.

Also, considering how often I get reamed for shipping things from the US to Canada, on Ebay and Kickstarter alike, I'm not shedding any tears about US backers finally having to deal with their S&H costs not being simply included in the tier price. Welcome to how the rest of the world lives! :-P

Okay, the schadenfreude isn't THAT strong...

I don't doubt it.

Whether or not it's worth $200 to get nicer minis, new hero classes/characters and a new quest pack, however, remains to be seen.

I'm not poo-poo'ing the campaign or trying to start anything. Merely recognizing that I may or may not have just dumped "$Macross" into Kickstarter campaigns in the last 12 months, and should probably rein it in a little.

Yeah I don't think I'm actually going to back this... Sure it has a ton of nostalgia but I've already got most of the stuff for the original game.

I can't say why but I get a bad feeling about this game. I'd need an explanation and a good one about the use of Canadian $'s.

The shipping amount certainly pushes this further into the "Maybe not..." category for me.

Combined with proximity to Christmas...

Still, I can be convinced otherwise!

So Gamezone is a Spanish company, but they do have a US distributer in CMoN.

They go through the trouble of registering a shell company in another country but they don't pick the country which tends to fund projects better and they don't pick a country where they have an existing distributor.

The product as far as I can tell is not licensed, they list their reason for a reprint as a petition on change.org...

My stay away from this project is going crazy, not that it's going to make any difference.

I imagine they're running the KS from the country where it was easiest to get hold of the nessesary paperwork in order to run the KS

apparently the US is pretty slow and difficult, especially setting up a bank account (based on what several companies have said)

Maybe Canada was easier, (Gamezone could have a contact there that could help them out)

You could be right, but at the very least it deserves an explanation. Canada isn't really a big board game country, and in using their currency your making it difficult for your two largest countries, the US and the UK.

Something is bothering me about this project and I was very excited when I first heard about it.

Canada could have to do with the trademark issue. AFAIK, Hasbro still has the Canadian trademark registered for another year, whereas it's lapsed in the US. If they registered as a US kickstarter, it could open to challenges on IP grounds.

Whoa . I saw a few folks say €30-ish to the US... so about $40. That makes sense, but ouch!

I have backed this one . Although I am worried about what catyrpelius has said. So I did a quick google, http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/900257/heroquest-petition

If Hasbro owns the rights can they and will they cause issue? I hope not.

Sad to already see such negativity about this already :(

I mean.. it's Heroquest! Gamezone have got some fantastically talented sculptors, from the description it sounded like they have drawn in a lot of talent, and if the gameplay follows the same pattern as the original we have nothing to worry about on that score.

The concerns are the shipping, and the Canadian dollar (although I'm not sure why?) The positives are that we are going to have an enhanced remake of a game that I'm sure introduced a good many of us here to wargaming - surely I can't be the only one excited (to possibly unhealthy levels) about this?

I'm not familiar with Gamezone and honestly don't know much about Heroquest other than it is a dungeon crawl type game. I happen to be wanting a dungeon crawl type game.

With Gamezone being a Spanish company, how good do you folks expect an English version of whatever they produce out of this project to be? Should I expect funky translations?

You're clearly not the only one Pacific, there were at least 1000 other folks just waiting to jump on this! And surely lots more, like myself, who have checked it out and are just waiting to see more.

The shipping is a deterrent, but not a dealbreaker imo. The sweetspot is low enough to allow for it.

I find the lack of earlybird slots a bit worrying...

Oh? Why is that?

After watching the gakstorm over the Shadows of Brimstone early birds, I'm glad they're not bothering.

I mean, a couple hundred slots at $5-10 off to boost the initial day wouldn't bother me, but the top tier is reportedly $150, so as long as the S&H are reasonable I can't see it breaking the bank.

The problem with the SoB early birds was that they never stopped adding them and just kept adding $25 to each level...

Early Bird slots preform a purpose, pulling in money on your opening day. The more money you bring in the longer you stay at the top of the page, the longer you stay at the top of the page the more money you bring in. Just so long as the early bird slots are limited you shouldn't hear anyone crying foul.

I just hope they did the work to be able to run the campaign in US $.

Looks like nearly $200k in less than the first hour open seems to call into question the need for early bird pledges.

Good on Gamezone.

That's a decent point, as folks who are rabid enough to be ready to check the first day are often going to pledge regardless! And sometimes with early birds folks just pledge to hold it, not necessarily planning to stay in the whole campaign. This campaign certainly didn't need any to fuel the initial day

Hmmmm. High shipping. Funny money. Sort of a high $$ amount for the stretch goals.....

It's been starred, but Brimstone has set a pretty high bar for for the $150 sweet spot price point.

This is something I get annoyed at - the stretch goals are either never going to be worth $40, or they're going to have to awkwardly throw in stretches that don't make sense considering the totals, since the pledging for this will certainly slow down.

So far for $200k, we've added monster cards, blank spell cards, 2 minis and a boulder, which could either be sculpted or a token. For the price to makes sense, there going to have to be a bunch of duplicates of the monsters and terrain added. If they add that, along with extra quests in an expansion, etc.., then it'll definitely be worth paying for the stretches.

Clearly sarcasm. Well missed.

As far as stretches... I guess I'm of th opinion that it shouldn't cost you that much more than the base product to access the stretch goals. Your basic product that is being funded level should include stretches.
