It also strikes me as odd that only ships & captains seem to have a points system. All the upgrades are off the wall with points. Such as Romulan Officer & Scotty. Romulan Officer is an action + requires cloak and a discard for +2 attacks, where as Scotty is an action for either +2 attacks or repair a shield. Scotty isn't even a disable, but both cards are 5 points. Just doesn't make sense.

Idk, I never really liked Scotty BECAUSE he takes my action for the turn, Feds need all their actions. lol

I think he was over looked early on for that very reason. I saw him creep into a lot of lists during the admirals orders and now that everyone uses Picard/Dukat/Flagship, scotty has more usefulness. He is great on Enterprise D and makes the Dorsal weapons array lethal.

I guess that makes sense, but Going faction pure stops ducat from abusing that.

Idk, I just never liked using scotty, even with picard, I always felt I needed the points elsewhere. Or needed more than one scotty (impossible)

Am I the only person underwhelmed by the borg tac cube. I was expecting a 200-300 monster.
Don't get me wrong it's still by far the best ship out there, but I feel it will be almost too powerful in 100 games.
If it was even more powerful but cost 300 points it would have been kept out of "normal" sized games and made it feel like an event to face one.
I think the feds are best kitted out to face it. I find the equinox with data/ransom and mines can soak up a stupid amount of attack dice, and should last a turn or two of shooting while still being able to do damage, especially with romulan mines.
Other than that Voyager looks pretty much designed to take on the borg with it's upgrades.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

TBH I was ok with borg, sure they are strong, and get 360 and the best movement dial for free, but at least I figured they would have low captain skills... but seeing the queen at skill 8, I know locutus will be 8 or more, just throws that one disadvantage out the window.

even with my lists tailored to beat borg, I have had brand new players beat me, despite me outplaying them by a large margin (read, I correctly predicted every single move they made, and made ever right choice, and had at least average rolls, and 15 alpha strike attacks, all with rerolls and BS's, I still wont reliably one shot a sphere or take it out of action for a turn)

not having to get a feth about movement or arcs is just too much to get for free... wizkids needs to cost those things... 6 attacks on a 90 degree arc ship with a horrid movement dial like the battle ship should not be the same as on a 360 with the best movement in game.

Personally, I think the Borg should be limited to One ship fleets, not to exceed 100 points, no access to Fleet Resources, and no mixing factions.

The Borg are just too powerful.

Do any of you think we may see TOs outright ban the Borg from OPs? I have heard whispers of it but not seen it happen yet. I have seen that some places banned cloaked mines rather than risk player drop off.

I have already seen TO's ban borg, but not at any of my personal OP's yet.

I have noticed player drop off however :(

Hopefully some balancing stuff comes out to ease a bit of the frustration.

Really where have you seen them banned at? It doesn't surprise me, they take all of the tactics out of the game. I could see one place I play doing it though, the store owner is all about having fun first. I saw a few places on line ban all wave 4 ships from the tholian web because it was supposed to be outnin April.

As for drop offs I can't say about that, we had a good turn out in April for a non OP event, but all of my OPs are at the end of the month. I have my first in a month this weekend, going through OP withdrawal.

Hey guys some release date news.

Waves 7, 8, & 9 are being pushed back a month. Before there was no November release. Pushing these dates back gives them a November release but none for August. No official word as to why, but it might be for better 3rd quarter sales during the Christmas shopping season. But who knows.

So far Collective OPs appear to be on time, but it looks like the Enterprise E will not be making it to the Battle of Sector 001 On the plus side it delays the scout cube and keeps new goodies out of the borgs hands

There's a Gorn ship now?? EWill it be available for retail purchase or is it just a promo?

Also, what other non-Star Trek Tactics ships have come out? Is the Scimitar out yet?

I'm hoping it's a Borg crusher. If any Romulan ship can stand up to the Borg, it should be that one.

I don't think my current Romulans have a chance. A Valdore is in the in mail, that should help.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)

There isn't a retail date for the Gorn yet, but it will come eventually. Earlier this year we got squads of Federation & Dominion fighters as participation prizes, both were new sculpts for attack wing only. It was just announced that they will now be available for retail by the end of the year. So its just a matter of time for most ships.

As for attack wing only sculps we have:
Federation Fighter
Cardasian Hadeki Fighters
Romulan TOS Bird of prey
Species 8472 Bio Ship
Romulan Scimitar announced
Harogen Hunter announced
Vadian announced
Chang's bird of prey from Star TrekmVI (wings up) announced
Romulan Drone ship announced

That is about all i can think of right now but the current release schedule goes through December

I wonder if the fighters will remain OP resources if they're switching to retail... Maybe we'll see them as being able to take multiple fighters in a build, that oughta take the borg down a notch.

I could see them becoming a non resource, but I hope that they are still limited to 1 per 100 points. Using more than one in a standard game would be great against the borg but terrible for everyone else, they are crazy good.

I would like it if the stayed a resource but came with a 3-4 different squadron cards and you just pick the best one to fit you play style.

At this point, we need something to combat the Borg in something OTHER than Klingons.

BTW, December release has some weird purple ship, the Regency Flagship, and the Hideki Class Attack Fighters.

January features the Federation attack fighters, Hirogen Warship, and the Romulan Drone ship (Which, BTW, what is the drone ship from? It looks very awkward for a TNG era design, I really want to know where it appeared)

Either way, I hope we eventually get another Nebula class, U.S.S. Farragut is wanting an expansion. lol

I think the Drone ship was from Enterprise. It was an unmanned remote controlled ship used for nefarious purposes.

I really wish that they will eventually release the OP prize ships for retail but I have this feeling that they won't. Especially when people start complaining because they won it at a tournament or vastly overpaid for it via eBay.

I still wish that Wizkids had the foresight to release the prize ships with alternative paint schemes or as 'cloaked' variants and then re-release them (many months later) for retail in 'regular' paint schemes. That way everyone is more or less happy; tourney players get to show off their unique ships while everyone else gets access to them eventually.

The Drone ship was a remote-controlled ship used by the Romulans in Enterprise. It could make itself look like any other ship and then went around attacking other ships, stirring up trouble between the Andorians and Tellarites. It was also very, very nimble, could be a candidate for Agility 4

The weird purple ship is the Vidiians

I think you just need to be patient. Remember the game has not even been out for a year. At GAMA a Wizkids rep told Tom Vassel they "have enough content for like 30 waves". In an interview before the game was released, Andrew Parks said Wizkids started with 4 year business model. 3 ships a month for the next 3 years plus what we already have is over 100 ships not counting prizes.

We have already seen that the fighters will be released and it's a good bet that Chang's BoP will be a B'Rel. So we may not get the exact prize ship but it looks like all of the classes will be released eventually.

Me too. I really hope the next OP after the borg is some kind of "welcome to the delta quadrant" series.

Ehh, I don't like the idea of a Voyager themed OP, it gives them free license to make more Broken Borg Ships...

I'm not concerned about all of the classes being released; they'd be really stupid not to do that. I just wish there is confirmation that we can get the actual prize ships too. Yes, the cards and ships are not game-breaking but I would still like a reasonable chance of getting them.

I'm also curious as to what they have in-store for Romulans. There doesn't really seem like a lot of stuff out there for them so are we just going to see different named D'deridex ships then? Wouldn't be so bad if their attack were higher.
