Ok, so this isn't worth a thread, it really isn't. This thread will probably get locked.
But something weird is going on. Me and my friend have our blog
Here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/568358.page.
It has over six hundred and fifty viewers, but aside from my aforementioned friend and some one else I know, no one has commented.
At all.
Have I named it wrong?
Is my painting that bad that no one even wants to say how bad?
Am I doing something wrong?
It's very demoralising when no one posts when you ask their opinion on something like this.

Well, not to be blunt, but begging for comments and attention here is not filling me with desire to come to your link.

Though for a quick glance, I can say that it might help you to show a single project, and to improve your photography. Right now the pictures are kinda crummy, and you change subjects much that it kinda is a mess.

Feedback:

1. Your blog is all over the place. It's titled Nids and Chaos, and I think I saw a picture of a grey knight in it. Make a blog with 1 army.

2. Better pictures. Yours are a little blurry and often taken too close to the miniature. Back up.

3. Bigger pictures. They are rather small on my screen and it's hard to see details, especially when coupled with #2 above.

You do have some feedback there, so don't be discouraged. Clean up your presentation a little. Best of luck!

Ok, so should I use the edit tool to organise it more, or should I try again with a clean slate?
Thanks for the feed back kronk+ curran.
Also, the reason I had lucien's chaos was because we generally hobby together.
Oh well, I'l assist him setting up his own thread.
One last question: when I take pics, I realise I have too much contrast, will rectify, but about how far (how much "not model" )should I be from the model when taking pictures?

I am generally 2 feet from my model when I take a picture.

Also, use the macro setting on your digital camera, if it has it. That helps a lot!

I'd also start with a clean slate. 1 army per blog. Best of luck!

Put a link to your blog in your sig.

Comment on other people's blogs, they might return the favor.

I normally comment if the subject wows me and draws me in (like someone making a 1:1 scale warbike), close to my heart (Ultramarines), or if I'm talking to someone interesting about something else and notice they have a blog (such as army lists or tactics). People with low post counts, awesome ideas, or from my area are more likely to get my attention.

Dunno. It's a picture of a flower on every camera I've ever used.

Make sure the pictures are in focus. It really looks like your camera is WAY too close to take the pictures. Back off a bit and use a stand if you have one. Then crop/etc to get the pick down. Try it with and without the flash. Also change your positioning based on the lighting in the room. In other words, take about 20 pictures of the same model making minor adjustments to the camera, lighting and positioning until you find what works.

Also, it helps to have a reason for a discussion. Are you trying something new? are you asking how to get a particular effect? In short, what are you doing to engage people?

I see a few pics, most of which are blurry, done with an average paint skill. Some of the photos are badly lit to the point that I can't tell what, if any, paint is on the model (daemon prince) or appear to be just mostly primed (yarrick). Given the comments between you and your friend it appears there is paint on those models, it's just not showing up very well.

Normally I wouldn't comment at all on this as anything I have to say is probably not that flattering and it doesn't appear you've actually asked for any type of criticism. You make a statement about telling you what to do to improve; how about turning that into a specific question..

So, take Kronk's advice and work on your picture taking ability. Once you have that down then try and focus your thread onto a single subject. Most WIP threads don't really have too many comments unless the OP is either very good or has some real questions that people can help with.

note: I am not trying to brow beat you. Quite frankly I didn't know the flower thingy was for Macro either so I learned something today and my photo ability is of such crap that I decided to stop trying to post any pics myself.

On the cameras that have the macro, you can toggle it ON and OFF, just like you can toggle between flash ON, OFF, or Auto. I hope that helps.

clively had an excellent point I forgot: Camera Stand. They're cheap and made to fit nearly every camera on the market. if not, at least place the camera on a stack of books so that it is steadier than it just being in your hands.

Also: the more active you are in your thread, the more active your thread will be, if that makes sense.

Does it say "effective for taking more vivid pictures of flowers"?

When I select it, my camera says "Close Up - Use for taking pictures of objects closer than 28 inches".

There is too little detail showing in the shots to make a good opinion of the painting.

Tag your photos.
You've put in a fair few gallery votes, but no-one's voted on your models. One way to get them seen is to tag them, and they'll show up in other people's searches.
When uploading batches of photos, copy-paste the same tags, and it's hardly any effort for a big benefit.

ok, I am trying again here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/573799.page
this time I am going to use better pictures, ask more direct questions, and, to get a bit more "publicity" I am going to post everything I finish in the showcase forum with a link to the blog. I will also be changing the title with each update.
