Dem faces doe.

Especially Mikey's.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

They look all kinds of awful. Curran hit it right on the head, disturbing uncanny valley territory.

I don't hold much nostalgia for the franchise, but this just looks bad. Honestly, TMNT (and all the nostalgic cartoon fare) is best kept to Saturday morning cartoons.

Edit: And a weird fixation on eyewear. Donatello has a bandana, glasses AND goggles.

Honestly, while Shredder looks pretty cool, and I like the turtle outfits/costuming generally, but the faces of them just look... wrong somehow. Which is a strange thing to say about mutant turtle-men, of course, but they're just not right, in a way that the 1990 movies avoided somehow. Uncanny Valley territory is right.

I'm stoked!

From gritty, black-n-white comics turtles, to the zany, 80's cartoon turtles, to the grungy 90's film turtles, back to the more-realistic-in-character-while-being-drawn-like-Cubism-meets-CGI modern cartoon turtles, I have loved every incarnation of this franchise. I can totally overlook weird retcons in the name of a good time if need be.

Then again, I'm a Highlander fan, so I've gotten really good at selectively pretending I didn't hear the word 'alien.'

Welcome to the Freakshow!

I think... I think I can tell which ethnicity each turtle is supposed to be.

It's a Michael Bay film. Expect racial stereotypes (anyone else ever notice Sentinel Prime became Fu Man Chu in Transformers 3)?.

IIRC the turtles will be mostly CGI, "drawn" over the motion capture suits worn by the actors.

Man those faces are creeping me out something fierce and making me feeling sick all at the same time!

I take it these are just models so that bay remembers what each one looks like, rather than being stop motion?

Not outright horrible, just yeah, the faces are a bit odd. Really making sure you know Don is the nerd of the bunch though, complete with surgical tape on the nose bridge of his glasses.

Yeah, I like everything except the faces...

...but they may well grow on me.

Kind of irrelevant though, because Michael Bay has not made an enjoyable film since The Rock (which kind of got ruined when I actually went to Alcatraz and realised that an underground mine cart chase is physically impossible).

Why exactly would a news organization hire a reporter with Megan Fox's voice?

This again?

Bay is constantly being misquoted here. The TMNT are created by an alien mutagen which comes from the Utroms (which incidentally also created Daredevil whist we're here). This is from their original comics. Sadly, a good percentage of people in this world only remember the first animated series (or think that it was the only one that existed). It was never really touched on in the 1987 series; but was covered in the 2003 series, which is FAR FAR closer to the original comics and criminally forgotten IMO.

Nicely played

Don't like the faces, probably for the uncanny valley reason mentioned earlier in the thread. It's Bay though, so I'm sure it will be a soulless 2 hr explosion with Megan Fox running in slow motion--and make millions--encouraging him in his quest to murder my childhood.

Exalted!

Like most; I dislike the faces; and I'm not totally sold on the turtles but don't mind them too much.

I agree that Shredder looks like a BAMF.

You think they'd wanna use something a bit closer to the current Turtles designs. It seems to be pretty damn popular these days. What they've gone with here is just too weird to appeal to the nostalgia crowd or the kids, since it doesn't look anything like what either set is familiar with.

Because Michael Bay insists on destroying childhoods one icon at a time.

Sorry, but the movie trilogy that came out nearly a quarter of a century prior did that for a lot of people.

But it didn't have baysplosions and slow-mo bewbs.

I don't know how Mr Bay can take such a winning combination and make it suck.
