Subject: Nostalgia time! Your first favorite game!
So I am assuming most of us played video games when we were kids, what was is the first game you can remember playing over and over?
Mine was an old knock-off/bootleg of mario, I have no idea what it was called, but the whole thing was black and white, "koopa" shells still dropped when you jumped on a them, but they killed you if you touched them, bower was a replaced by a sphinx that would only jump up and down and shoot fire balls, and you defeated it by ground pounding a stake chaining his in place behind him, he would them run off, still loved it though, even though now I realize how broken it was.
Upon some research this game appears to be modeled after super mario land for gameboy, but this was something different, the first level is completely flat, nothing to jump over but enemies, and there is a ground pound.

Diablo 1 as a monk. Thats right the monk with graphics so bad everything was grey with dial-up internet and a computer so slow I could leave to get food during loading between levels. So many good times in that game
Forest hunter sept ~3500 guardians of the covenant 4th company ~ 6000

Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, in 2003. Yes, almost ten years and two whole console generations later. I won it at a school competition. It took a while to set up and the picture was sort of fuzzy, but it was amazing nonetheless. I wish I kept this thing, looking back on it now. I would have had an amazing console collection considering I won an N64 the year after and bought an Atari Jaguar the year after that at a school sale.

Ratchet and Clank on the PS2. I remember it as not only was it the first PS2 game I ever played, but it was the first that I really wanted to play to completion even after the storyline had finished. Even today after games like Skyrim, Civ5, Dragon Age etc it still stands out as one of my gaming highlights

Some helicopter game on the Apple II. Can't remember the name, but I can picture it in my mind.
Edit: I think it was probably Choplifter.

Age of Empires / Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun. Might be something before that, but can't remember... Might have been Commander Keen.
Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Played it ever since I was a wee tacker and still do regularly. The best game of the Civ series without a doubt. Far as I'm concerned it's still one of the best computer games ever made.

I remember battlefront too, they really need to get around to making another one. Good times were had.

First game I can remember really grabbing me was a game called Starglider on the Sinclair Spectrum. Reading about it now it was piggybacking off the success of Elite, and was a very similar type of game. Remember being frightened by some of the giant ships you would encounter!
Spent hours and hours with my friends on Dizzy as well, both the original and Treasure Island. Remember the one game you only had a single life - single slip into a puddle of water (or, usually you would die encountering things for the first time, then spend ages getting back to the same point again).
Console wise, there was a brilliant Atari 2600 game of Star Wars (indestructible Darth Vader would occasionally come through), and also one where you piloted a helicopter through a stage with undulating hills and through caverns. Can't remember the name sadly, although I remember once you got to the end you had to fly back all the way to the start again!

Total Annihilation. I had other good games before that, but that was my first absolute mind-blowing favorite that made me drop everything else in gaming for a long time.
First *favorite* console game was probably... hrm. Gak, I don't know if I can honestly remember that far back, that's something like eighteen years ago.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Banjo-Kazooie. I literally had no idea what on earth I was supposed to be doing in that game so I mostly just wandered about aimlessly looking at the pretty and colorful graphics. This went on for about a year or two, and then I found out that video games have goals and ever since, I've been trying to beat it. I got Banjo-Tooie at the same time and that one was even better. Come to think of it, it's been roughy 11 years and I still haven't beaten either of those games yet.

Back when games still came in boxes with 50+ page manuals containing a cool short story.
Back when real heroes didn't need shields in their starfighters.
Back when the Empire could just park a Star Destroyer in a system plagued by civil war and be like "stop fighting you morons or we're bombing y'all back into the stone age"
Good times. <3

Final Fantasy Tactics. Easily my favourite game. I'm pretty sure I maxed out the time played counter on my original file.

The Third age Mod is the absolute best strategy game I have played, so much love and care has gone into that mod that it brings a tear to a lone gamers eye sometimes
