The whole new name for the army does my head in too.

I mean, I can actually except the 'we need to trademark our names' argument. Sure, it's crazy, but, it's like, typical Games Workshop crazy.

I just genuinely can't imagine a conversation from new players a couple of years down the line going.

"Yeah, I collect astra mili-tar-um. The astra temp-est-us sky-eee-ons are my favourite unit. They go perfectly with my astra telepathica psychic choir."

I mean, they got away with it with Codex: Adepta Sorioritas just because only vets tend to play them, and they just call them Sisters anyway.

Everyone should know by now that GW stopped releasing main Codex in first week.
So an online only Stormtrooper Codex is not the same as a general release IG Codex.
But the confusion certainly helps to sell these 2 pages of rules for full codex price

Chaosed up IK? I can believe they'd run a new model converted up to go with an army it can't be fielded alongside on the cover.

Are you serious?

You think GW made a $50, 72 page codex, for an elites choice? At least the IKs can be an army, or ally, and the $41 IK ARMY codex has more info then a 72 page codex could for a stormtrooper (elite) choice....

The IK codex definitely sets up the possibility of other codexes following a similar vein.

So yes, I could see a 'codex' just for Stormtroopers, with a unit and a command squad, and rules for fielding them either as allies or as an 'all stormtrooper, all the time' army by themselves.

The allies and detachment rules have destroyed the single-codex FOC anyway. Clearly the way of the future is just to release a separate codex for each new unit, and let people piece their armies together from whatever they want.

As an ork player I'd like to say that I like that new transport a lot. It allready looks like a shiny new battlewagon, without changing a single bit. Honestly, 10 bucks say, this thing got started as an ork model in the first place.

Who really needs to have a good look at a model or full look at rules when they can just call it crap and whine and moan. Saves time. I'm waiting for this place to implode and form Murph'ei, Chaos god of pessimism.

The Stormtrooper book looks like it will have at least the Stormtrooper Command squad, basic Scions squad, and the Taurox as a transport. If Stormtroopers are not in the guard codex, that will be annoying. But having their own Stormtrooper book as well opens up a lot of options for various armies- run Knights and Stormtroopers as Skitarii. Inquisition and Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. Add them as Rogue Trader forces, Naval Armsmen, Chapter Cultists, Adeptus Arbites to other Imperial books. I plan to wait and get the IG codex first with my limited funds, but I plan to get the Stormtrooper book as well.

Guard are missing kits for the Griffon, Medusa, Colossus, a complete Basilisk kit, and still have ancient Rough Riders and FineCost Ratlings and Stormies, all their characters as well as Ogryn.

So... GW gives us a butt-ugly ice trucker thingy.

At 5 for $35, I don't really care that these have *more options* or extra weapons compared to the old metal stormtroopers. If you wanted, you could buy extra bits meltas & plasmas ($10 for 5), and STILL be cheaper using a more expensive set of materials (Metal units, Finecast weapon).

If switching to finecast & plastic was cheaper, that'd be cool. When it stays the same cost/gets more expensive, it just makes GW look like the profit-grubbing tools we call them.

Time to order the oldschool troopers while you can boys!

Erm guys, just done a bit of temporal maths. Those pics say preorders for 29th March, release 5th april. So, in assumption next week preorders the rumours are for more chaos. I think the week after could be the first release of them, ala the dwarf release schedule with maybe the ogryns in first week with something else. That would make sense. And also, the name sounds a bit silly, i hope they have a good reason for it.

Who needs Grey Knights when you've got Deathwing Terminators!

Terminators don't kill people, people controlling the terminators do!

How are they planning to sell those kits in FLGS:s, without rules to use them?

At least Dwarf-stuff had an older codex to use them with.

That's great Kan. We know you have a giant hate-boner for anything you personally don't approve of, but stop picking on the Rough Riders. There are people out there who do like them, and who very much want to keep using them.

Am I the only one on this forum that likes the look of the transport? It's a tracked MRAP.

I think it would look great ploughing across the ice fields of Antarctica, or perhaps ferrying a group of Arbites across the Ash Wastes of Necromunda.

In a Guard army though... sorry... Astra Militarum army though? No.

The Astra Militarum will almost definitely still have the Tempestum units still in the primary book. You just have to buy the "Direct Only" book to field a formation of just those guys.

Why do you keep saying that this is THE Imperial Guard codex? With the confirmation of only two products, I doubt very sincerely that this is it. The fact that Rough Riders are no longer in the online could also just mean that a kit made of new material is coming, or that the IG codex is coming out after this. As for the kit not fitting the IG, I don't think it's supposed to considering THIS IS NOT AN IG BOOK.

That vehicle. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed it but it looks a little like a squashed Dreamforge APC which wishes it were a tank.

I can't make out the stormtroopers but the fact that there are only 5 to a box tells me I won't be getting them. I'm sure the models are nice enough but I think I may just get some more Kasrkin instead...

I reckon the name is bad ass. The prices, errrr well I cant see 5 guard are gonna be as good as 5 grey knights and even though you could just sell the bits left over on ebay or something to get a bit of money back, £21 for 5 guard? I dunno maaaan.

Stormtroopers are guard.

And the kit is listed as being for both Tempestus and Astra armies.

They are also Inquisition. Also, note that they are not listed as Storm Troopers. I sincerely doubt that Storm Troopers are the only humans fighting for the Imperium thay have Carapace armour.

Have you looked at the name of the thing?

Militarum Tempestus Taurox Prime/Astra Militarum Taurox

Storm Trooper Taurox Prime/Imperial Guard Taurox. It's a Guard unit, for the upcoming Guard Codex, which would be about a week after these come out.

Which doesn't change the second point, which was that the Taurox is dual listed as being for both armies...
