Subject: Game of Thrones Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

Spoiler:
That they are really setting the Viper's death up to be a kick in the balls for viewers this season. He is being portrayed as very likeable to the audience (cool, confident, reasonable, etc), which almost guarantees that his death goes down as intended.
Of course, my other thought was that they could really punch book readers in the nuts by excising the whole Mountain is a zombie thread and having the Viper win/live.
That would be cooler. It would be a twist and preferable.
Spoiler:
I mean Oberyn is everyone's favorite character in the books.
Pretty much the reason I loved the books was someone introducing me to the fight. Also, the actor they picked is doing a great job.

Besides, his death is one of the reasons that Oberyn is such a good character. Much like Ned Stark he is a man who is very aware of who he is and what he wants which, while it is interesting for one season, doesn't leave much room for long term character development. He arrives on the scene, does his thing and then has a dramatic exit with a satisfying conclusion and some serious repercussions for almost every character.

I really hope that they keep Tyrion's escape and Tywin's death faithful to how its portrayed in the books.
-Shortly before the Trial by Combat, the Red Viper meets with Tywin and drinks/eats a meal with him. -Trial by combat, Red Viper dies.
-less than a day later, Varys and Jaime break Tyrion from jail prior to his execution.
-Jaime tells Tyrion the truth about Tysha - that she was not a whore after all and genuinely loved Tyrion - and Tyrion, angrily and spitefully tells Jaime that he killed Jaime's son after all. (
-Tyrion finds Tywin in the privy, doubled up in pain. -Later on at Tywin's funeral his corpse is all rotten and smelly. -Also, I want The Mountain to be poisoned and screaming in agony for days. And dear old Qyburn to be "treating" him.
I want all the hints and implications in the book that the Red Viper poisoned Tywin to be brought over to the show.
Hinting that Oberyn Martell poisoned Tywin Lannister would be a good way to inform viewers on where House Martell's loyalties and intentions lie, and help foreshadow the Dorne storylines for next Season.

So they have that bastard surrounded, and his back is turned to them as he's opening the cage to the dogs. So...why doesn't Asha just bury her axe into his head and be done with it? I mean, the cockbite tortured her brother into insanity. Also, why didn't they just knock Theon out? The Ironborn are not known to be gentle. Did it happen like this in the book? I can't remember

In the book, Asha Greyjoy did not attempt to rescue Theon.
Spoiler:
Balon dies when he falls from a bridge during a storm. IIRC its implied that a Faceless Man killed him.
Asha (Yara) returns to the Iron Islands to attend the Kingsmoot and press her own claim to the throne but loses out to her uncle Euron (not yet cast for the show).
Then she rejoins her men at Deepwood Motte, but is captured by Stannis Baratheon when he retakes the castle with the aid of some northern lords and the mountain clans.
So far, they've either cut the Iron Island Kingsmoot arc completely, or they're delaying it to Season 5 and using this raid on the Dreadfort as filler. I hope thats the case as some of the Iron Born are quite interesting.

I feel sorry for him, to the extent that I think he deserved a quick, clean beheading at Robb's hands rather than being tortured and mutilated at the hands of Ramsay Snow.

Spoiler:
I don't think They'll cut it as there's potentially a Dragon Rider involved there (With the Horn brought back from Old Valayria) or if not a Rider itself but the means to fight them: this is all unveiled at the King's Moot by which point Asha iirc had disowned Theon already so perhaps the raid was to demonstrate that's now her belief
Quite possible the death of her father will be broken at a meeting of the Small Council although I'll admit when i read it I didn't get the implication of a faceless man but it did imply (To me at least) that Prophecies Can come true with Magic seeping back into the world.
In conclusion I believe that the Ironborn is meerly being delayed a bit not being scrapped altogether
Currently debating whether to study for my exams or paint some Deathwing

That is one thing I do like about the books. Good guys turn bad, bad guys turn good, and some guys who are donkey-caves get so much given back to them that you just wish that they would just get put out of their misery...

I really wanna see Balon's death, even if just in silhouette . Make it ambiguous, with a shadowy figure glimpsed for a brief moment behind him as a nod to the Faceless Man assassination theory.

Would you? You are staring at the man you love and saying. "He did this, he also did this. I am a whore." That is mentally traumatizing to say the least.

So, etiquette wise, can we stop using spoiler tags here or what? Because the thread title, after all, does say [SPOILERS] pretty prominently in it, and I'd have to think that anyone who didn't want something spoiled wouldn't be 14 pages in.
What is the consensus on this?
Also, on a side note: one of the things I think the show did better than the book was develop Theon's motivations. In the books, I feel like when Theon betrayed Robb and the other Starks, it was kind of like... random, and out of the blue. On the show, however, I think they laid a pretty solid groundwork of the Starks kind of being a dick to Theon, repeatedly, which then built up to his betrayal.
Also also, check this out.
You can see some interesting things to come if you watch it carefully, like Oberyn in a fight and a certain duo running down a dungeon hallway.

Well. GRRM is somewhat off the reservation and we're pretty much matching what's in the book to the TV show. I say use spoiler tags for "shock and awe"
