Subject: Re:AdeptiCon 2015: Andy Chambers will be Special Guest! Fantasy Model Revealed!
By now everyone should know that we got a massive amount of Deadzone sprues this year to work on and with the help of Mel Bose at the Terrain Tutor we have a game plan for getting all of these Mantic Mantic Games Deadzone buildings on the table. It almost goes without saying that you get a major amount of terrain out of just one Battlezone box, but you get a truly astonishing amount out of 1,100+ sprues!
Spoiler:
We also have some Chemical Tank designs from Alex Landing of Ironheart Artizans ! You have to heck these things out. Based on our “crazy, over-the-top” AdeptiCon Titancius tanks from last year, these kits are brought down to scale for the average gaming table and provide a great centerpiece to battle over.
And just wait till you see these Necropolis terrain pieces that the Brush for Hire guys have provided us. These are going to be a welcome addition to our Necron themed tables for eons to come.
Finally, Flying Tricycle, who has contributed some of the first and longest-used AdeptiCon laser terrain kits has produced some flexible Wrecked Hulk designs that we are putting to good use. Look for these to show up on a terrain table near you!
Some very nice terrain options there. Is the plasticard sandwiched inbetween levels of the battlezone mantic kits for added durability? Obviously that would affect the ability to change the terrain at a latter date via the clips if glued like that but I'd guess it would make them tougher and more likely to survive handling by the unwashed masses.

@warboss - We glued all the Mantic buildings so they are fixed. Just was going to work out better for our long term terrain needs, durability and repair.
What you see in the photo is two sizes of plastic rod that we have on some of the vertical or horizontal panel seams just to break it up.
Also, to be clear this is just updates to some of our table sets. Our terrain guys try to address some every year but it is a long never ending process.

The FAQ update (with the new Necron codex stuff) is now up on the Adepticon site. Make sure you clear your download cache (usually shift+click or alt+click depending on the browser type) if you're still seeing the old document when you click on the link.

Does anyone know if legacies of glory are allowed in the 40k tournaments? I see a rule clarification in the TT about them(that makes them allowed), so I figure that they are in the classic, highlander, and champs?

I see it but the void shield ruling is vague enough to stop Gauss from even hurting void shields. Meaning my entire army could be stopped by void shields as I run a gauss overload list.

I know it sucks for you in that case, but yes, that would be the ruling as it currently stands. Until GW specifies otherwise Void Shields/Power Fields say they are hit 'instead' of the vehicle and therefore it seems as though things that affect vehicle armor penetration rolls would not apply when rolling penetration against them.
I'm actually curious on the ruling of the Decurion and whether it's going to be allowed in all it's glory. Meaning you could take a Reclamation Legion and 2 of the Same formation as it is allowed in the Decurion.
If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

If you were gonna go this route RAW melta don't work on buildings either since they are for armor penetration but only against vehicles.

Asked for clarification and got it:
Brett,
That is covered in the new FAQ document:
Abilities that specify they affect a vehicle/building, such as Tank Hunters, Graviton, etc, have no effect when rolling armor penetration against a Power Field/Void Shield.

So my necron list just got nullified by a fortification 3 weeks out... tough pill to swallow. Will have to rethink my list or run another one of my armies.

Except that the building rules specifically say: "When determining if a building can be targeted by a shooting attack or psychic power, charged and fought in close combat, or affected by a special rule, treat the building as a vehicle unless specifically stated otherwise."
Or did you already spot this and that's why you're saying to ignore you for being dumb?
Tomb King wrote:So my necron list just got nullified by a fortification 3 weeks out... tough pill to swallow. Will have to rethink my list or run another one of my armies.
It does totally suck, but anytime you make an army that spams one particular special rule/ability you run that risk.
I'm sure you totally disagree with the ruling, but its not like the ruling that was made is completely outside of the rules or something. The truth is, if you say that fields/shields are treated like a vehicle, then you get a bunch of issues that aren't answered by the rules, like what do Graviton weapons do when you roll a '6' against a field/shield? Sure you can then go beyond and start FAQ'ing further to say these types of abilities (that cause auto-pens/glances) instead take down a field/shield, but in that case we would most certainly be adding additional house rules to have to cover a ruling that could be made either way.
Because I'd put the odds on how GW would rule on this at about 50/50, if they ever did so. They've shown a propensity in the past to not care if their rules totally lock out certain weapon types from hurting certain targets. Hell, if you think about it, the *entire* vehicle AV rules are a system designed to lock out low strength weapons. So I could totally see GW coming out with a FAQ ruling exactly as we have, or I could also see them going the other way, which would then likely require FAQing each individual special ability that might affect fields/shields in a strange way.
So if you think about it, your situation is analogous to taking an army that doesn't contain any S8+ weapons and running into a Land Raider spam enemy, except that of course it is a lot easier to have a Void Field Generator than it is an army full of Land Raiders.
Second I predict at least a few people showing up with 5-6 detachments cause they can and doing pretty well
Average will probably be 2-3.
I made one with 7.
It's comedy gold.
It requires me to have 10 books.
My plan is to drop all the books on the table and go to my opponent "So, how long do you really want to be here"

This will vary by event.
For the championships it is considered a single detachment consisting of multiple formations. Each formation remains unique within the Decurion.
This means you may take a Decurion but may only include one of each "add on" option.

Not playing Necrons but isn't this a little over the top? The detachment itself is unique, why does each thing in it need to be unique?

Every other formation in the championships is considered unique. This keeps things straight forward. If a player decides they would like to include multiple units that would be limited in a Decurion they may always choose to instead utilize a CAD, allied detachment and/or supplement with specific formations.

Legendary game designer and author, Andy Chambers, speaks with Adam “Loopy” Fasoldt in this week’s episode of AdeptiCon Talks. They cover a little about his storied past (Battlefleet Gothic), but A LOT about some upcoming projects, including his new spaceship combat game for Hawk Wargames. Andy discusses some design theory and what we might expect from this new game set in the Dropzone Commander universe. Andy also talks a little about his work with Warlord Games, a little teaser with regard to All Quiet on the Martian Front and, finally, what he has planned for AdeptiCon weekend!

Listened through and the "Dropfleet" info is from 7:30 - 15:00. Well worth it! I just wish I was the kind of person who could figure out what a game would be like from talking about the mechanics, but it certainly sounds like he's going for it and making a unique new game, not a BFG re-make.
